I agree. Reminds me of millenium fused with heisei.

Legendary Pictures is definetly taking the movie in the right direction with this design being faithful to the original design.

Intresting choice of director... I need to see just how good Monsters is before I can really decide if Godzilla's alright in this guy's hands...

Definitely an improvement over the last American Godzilla design.
Its different enough to be "modern" but still faithful to the franchise. I can dig it.

It looks like it has aspects of the first movie's Godzilla design as well as the Hesei and Millenium era Godzillas.

Amazin.
Though how does a building still stand after Godzilla walks through it? Architectural engineering has come a long way.

Hard to explain the radiation left behind with a earthquake and typhoon... Fukushima was bad, but not that bad...
I like the new angle they hint at with the origin story. Godzilla wasn't created by the H-bombs, and the nuke tests waking the monster up only goes so far. The fact they were trying to kill it makes that one line more poignant: the greatest mistake mankind could make is thinking it could control nature. In this, Godzilla is more than an analogy of nuclear devastation; Godzilla IS a force of nature, one turned vicious as a consequence of human error.
God dem 2001 monolith chanting goin on too.
