personally i think the lack of appearances was intentional. too many appearances by the monster obviously moving in the protagonists' direction would give the impression to some that it was actively chasing them, or, more specifically, that the director intended to have it chase them. of course, this will look like that mostly to people who overthink things [TT and I for example, would likely think that about the movie if there were many more appearances of the monster]. it also brings up the 'survivors were hopeless where escaping was conscerned', a cliche with many horror movies where survivors have to escape anything. even if given every chance to escape, they somehow fail. any more appearances by the monster would make it seem like they were more likely running towards the monster rather than away from it, in other words. :P

I think that if you go see Cloverfield with the mindset that it is going to be a godzilla-type Kaiju movie, you will feel disappointed, and will think the movie is bad.

If you go in with an open mind, you will find it quite good in its own regard.

As for WotW...its similar to the old Godzilla movies, and the Godzilla Tristar remake. In reality, as much as it pains me to say it, the Tristar movie obliterates a great many Godzilla movies in quality. Effects, story, believable characters, etc etc.

The thing that makes the original Godzilla better is that it is a classic. People KNOW it has shitty effects and bad voice dubs, and that's partly the reason why they see it. It adds to the experience. The Tristar movie didn't have this advantage, and was seen as crap compared to other Godzilla movies.

In my opinion, the original WotW (Movie, that is) didn't have this charm. It was just...crap.

Now if we are talking about Clash of the Titans, the original and the remake, the original would take the cake with flying colors :P

Also, IK. I kinda liked how you didn't see much of the monster. Made it scarier and more tense.

I feel that the method used on showing little of the monster in Cloverfield worked best in Alien.

Original Alien was a true horror movie.

AlienS was more toward action IMO. Though I liked both.

I went hiking today with my sister and a few friends.

And we almost started a forest fire.

Playing with fire is a blast when you're not accidentally burning yourself. XD

We stamped it out before it could spread too far, thankfully. But it still almost happened, and truth is, we were laughing as we put it out. =D

Does the Ludroth armor need loyal Ludroth parts or are normal Ludroth parts all that is needed to make the armor?

Need Royal Ludroth. Had to hunt it a loooot.

Relatively easy monster, but he has kicked my *** a few times. Never fainted, but there have been close calls.

And the fact that his eyes glow in the water is really creepy.

Once I upgrade the slash axe, I'm off to hunt a Barroth for the first time.

That was the best part of Aliens. Subtle genre change. It kept the horror features but introduced a new element. Humans fight back kind of thing :P

Subtle? First it was a random long term spaceflight that accidentally brought aboard a hostile alien creature. It was ONE creature, and it almost killed everyone.

AlienS was suddenly a military operation, where both humans and aliens were being slaughtered in great supply. It was still "horror" if you want to be technical, but it was definitely different then the first.

Subtle because it involved the same monster, except now the humans are prepared somewhat, so it leans towards action, because now they can kill the aliens. But now killing them doesn't even work, there's always 2 more to replace the one you've killed, so it swings back towards horror.
