Thats totally fine DM, your well within your rights to snap at me and lash out. A man's gotta defend his honour.
Now, the size thing? I placed Ridley about the same size as something like a charca. In my imagination, it seemed reasonable enough. From what I've seen of the metroid games, thats what ridley generally is. What size did you think he was? (out of curiosity) Relatively similar to Grevious? (ie, around the height of an elephant?)
secondly, the leg thing. Mechanical limbs require just as much design as organic ones. a mechanical limb requires hydraulics, artificial muscles or individual motors in order to function. Generally, power will come from an internal engine rather than individual motors, with the limbs being controlled by hydraulics, like a JCB's digger arm. individual motors would never provide enough power to lift any sort of load, so you'll only find that design with very small scale low performance mechanics (such as a child's toy). As Grevious's legs are encased in armour, I'd assume the hydraulics (or however the mechanics of his legs are designed) are internal, so having a blade rammed through them would most certainly disrupt it, quite severely.
Chances are, something like Grevious would have backup systems to prevent the damage from being critical, but to say it had very little effect would be pushing it.
Thirdly, even a relatively slow character would have a chance to react against an attack like that, even if Grevious was sprinting. I'd understand if Ridley charged, and Grevious rounded him, but he was stationary. As a counter, the attack might have passed, but not as a full fledged move.
However, all of those are mere semantics, my main point was aimed not at the facts of the fight, but the style of the posts. It wasn't fair. Nothing angers me more than someone being denied a chance at reacting.
Especially from an an experienced member like you, I expected better, influencing my over the top response. Now, you said that you didn't care much about the fight, you just wanted to have fun, that's fine, but keep in mind that this is a topic for PRACTISING and improving. While it's meant to be light hearted and fun, this isn't RPGTEW.
Your expected to try your best. I don't think you did. Maybe I'm over estimating your experience, but I got the vibe you didn't really care, that you felt you could get away with anything because 'it was only a practice forum.'
Now, I regret that I insulted you. It was not intentional, nor was humiliating you. But I was quite annoyed and have no intention of tolerating laziness. Maybe laziness wasn't a factor in it at all, maybe they were honest mistakes, but I'm not going to apologise. Regardless of the manner in which I said it, they fact still stands that you need to improve. Now, you can hate me all you want, but don't even dare quit, or decide it's not worth the effort. This forum is just for fun, but it's a communal effort. Everyone needs to pitch in to make the Rpgs and E-wars great. A weak link brings down the quality of the entire thing. We are completely fine with those willing to learn, and really it's not like they are causing any sort of damage, its completely minor, but laziness and complacency will not be tolerated. It isn't fair on everyone else.
So now, think about what I said, start a fight with someone else here, then prove me wrong.
