"More then that I think...we're being watched." Firestreak growled lowly in response. He didn't know for sure if the cat he sensed was indeed watching them, but with a group so large, it was pretty farfetched to assume otherwise...

The black tom remained silent, resting leisurely in the trees as he watched the cats below, picking up traces of the conversation and noting the reaction. they had sensed him. as planned. now they'd be wary charging into enemy territory....and perhaps...they would be less likely to take unnecessary risks...

"hmm." Shadowstar pricked her ears and took a long look around them, scanning undergrowth and tree branches alike. Now she too had caught the scent. "One cat, it smells like. Loner or rogue. The former wouldnt worry me, but the latter...." she looked around again, eventually settling her deep green gaze in the direction the other cats had gone. "We're being left behind. Come; we need to let the others know to keep sharp and be wary of unfamiliar scents. We don't want to run straight into an ambush."

"Right." Firestreak responded with a quick nod, before hurrying after the other cats...

Shadowstar took one last look around before following Firestreak. The ThunderClan leader could almost swear she saw the gleam of eyes, but she couldn't be sure - and in any case, there was a battle to be fought.

Led by his nose, Tiberium found himself standing outside yet another den, staring down the entrance to the burrow, wondering just what was inside. Various scents came from it, of both cats and-strangely- plants of all things. The aromas of several different types of herbs came drifting up from the den, deepening the loner's inquiry. Deciding to investigate, the white loner crept into the burrow, unknowingly entering the Medicine cat's den.

The medicine cat of ThunderClan was not in the clearing; she was in her den, a split rock that was a little ways away from the fern nests where sick and badly injured cats would rest. She was a young blue-gray tabby she-cat with blue eyes by the name of Mistpool. She was busily going through her stores, checking which herbs she had and which she needed to stock up on, hoping she had enough supplies to care for any wounded. "....marigold to prevent infections, thyme for shock, juniper for strength, cobwebs for bleeding..." she was reciting under her breath, not yet aware that she was no longer alone as she reached a paw into the crack where she kept her juniper and began to sort through the berries, setting aside the ones that would need to be replaced. "Nearly out of juniper," Mistpool muttered, hoping that what she had was enough.

Shadowstar quickly caught up to her party of warriors, waiting at the border, taking her place in the lead. "Noses up you lot, and ears and tails down,"she ordered quietly. "From here on we're in WindClan territory. Keep sharp for unfamiliar scents. Remember we're dealing with rogues too. Let's go." Silent as a snake she turned to lead them on, horribly aware of how exposed they would be along the gorge.

Stepping lightly with his body close to the ground, Tiberium prowled into the den as silently as he could. At first he thought he was alone until he heard the quiet murmuring of a shecat. He froze in place, looking around the rocky chamber, his eyes still getting used to the lower light level. Before long he was able to make out the shape of the cat, her back turned to him and her attention focused elsewhere. He couldn't exactly make out what she was saying, only bits and pieces that didn't make much sense without context. With a barely audible sigh to get over his surprise, Tiberium took in the sights and smells of the den, thinking about possible reasons why the clan kept a store of herbs. One possibility that came to him was that the plants were snacks for the Thunderclan cats, something he dismissed almost immediately. "What cat would rather snack on leaves than a mouse?!" He thought, shaking his head at the idea

A few dried out marigold leaves were added to the pile of herbs she couldn't use. The medicine cat reached once more into her herb store and pulled out some dried oak leaves. "dried oak....another remedy for infections," she mewed, sniffing the leaves to make sure none were unusable. Then she checked her store of poppy seeds, making sure she had enough. "poppy seeds for pain..." she was so wrapped up in her task that she had still not noticed that someone was there.

Tiberium moved away from the entrance to the rocky hollow, heading deeper into the den to get a closer look at the shecat's activity. He sat down when he was a short distance from her, his tail wrapping around him as his amber eyes rested on the pile of herbs and those stuffed in the cracks in the wall. He was able to hear her a bit better now and tilted his head as he began to ponder about what she muttered. So the assortment of things were kept for their medicinal value, things he would pass by any other day without giving them a second glance. He wondered about how one would use those herbs and resources to their aid, again coming up with possible ways of applying the remedies. "Who would eat a dried up leaf?" The tom thought, shaking his head once more

Ferallion moved along with the group across the clearing. He was more used to the forest than the grassy plains around Windclan camp. Looking around for bushes he could use for cover, he saw the four large oak trees and the smaller trees around them off to his side. Beyond them, the peaks of the mountains so far away...

Firestreak and the Windclan cats continued to follow the Thunderclan leader, the Windclan cats slightly more at ease now that they were in familiar territory, even if it was occupied by the enemy...

"Maybe...nah that wouldn't make much sense either. How about-...no..." Tiberium continued to wonder, before finally abandoning the effort. Clearly the cat ahead of him had some strange knowledge of the various plants and items, he could save some time just asking her about her collection. Just as he opened his mouth however, he thought about how caught up the shecat was with her work. He wasn't sure how she would react to an interruption or if he was even allowed in her den, but judging from the numerous scents of other cats that lingered at the den entrance, visitors seemed like a regular thing. "Hello" The white loner mewed, taking his chances

Mistpool jumped, startled out of her concentration. She turned and gave the white Tom a long, searching look. Finally she replied, "um, hi. You don't look sick, so.... Why are you in here?" she cocked her head as she asked the question.

Shadowstar kept a careful ear out as they started to follow the gorge. This was the worst possible place to get caught, with little room to maneuver, no cover, and a sheer drop and roaring falls not more than a few tail-lengths away. They were exposed here, and one wrong move could send them plunging over the cliff.

"...Such lovely manners. She didn't even bother to ask me my name" Tiberium thought as he cocked his head, thinking back to when he first met the Thunderclan patrol. Were all clan cats blunt and quick tongued? Or was it because he was a stranger to them all? "Well, I've been listening to you for a bit" Tiberium went onto say, glancing over to the stockpile. "How do you use that stuff to treat cats?" He mewed, deciding it was best to finish his business and skip formalities. He had the feeling the shecat didn't like being disturbed

"That depends on what they need," mistpool mewed, looking around at her stock. "if they had an injury, they'd need something to stop the bleeding, dull the pain, and prevent infection. If they're sick they need a certain remedy. A medicine cat's work is never done," she added wryly. "but without cats like us, the Clan would be hard-pressed to survive." as she dabbed at a marigold leaf, she went on, "the name's Mistpool. And you are?"

The Windclan cats moved skillfully across, having traversed the path many times. Firestreak did as well, having his fair share of trips to Windclan territory. At the other end of the path, a lone figure overlooked the gorge, eyes widening at the sight of the cats before running off...

The flash of movement at the corner of her vision made Shadowstar jerk her head around and prick her ears. But whatever it was had already gone. She cursed softly under her breath. If Tailwind were alerted now it could prove too dangerous to continue. Aware of this, she upped the pace, wanting to get deeper into WindClan territory. She turned to Swiftstrike. Once they could pull away from this path they'd need the WindClan warriors to lead the way.

"Tiberium" The golden eyed tom mewed. "A pleasure to meet you Mistpool" He added, looking back to the Medicine cat before growling "So...you feed them that...?", widening an eye as he did.

"the leaves need to be chewed, so the juices can do their work," Mistpool explained. "For example, marigold," she mewed, prodding the leaf again. "when the juice of the leaves gets into a wound it can help stop infection from setting in." she nodded to another pile she had already pulled out of the store. "Borage on the other paw, when the juice is swallowed, cures fever. The leaves can be spat out, you don't need to eat them really."

"...Doesn't it taste funny? I'm sure a leaf isn't going to taste as good as a mouse or fish" Tiberium replied, eying the store warily, as if making a note not to get hurt enough to need any of those herbs,
