Gulping down the last of a dead monkey's remains, Hellfire snorted. That old fool always led him to the most infuriating of places. And never once did he show himself. It was like he actually enjoyed tormenting him; leaving just enough of a trail to follow, no doubt intentionally if his experience with him was anything to go by. And then, once he was certain he had led him to a place so ridiculously complex and dangerous he would be fighting tooth and claw all the way through, the trail would disappear, leaving him to fend for himself. And by that point, retracing his steps either wasn't an option, or was so riddled with dangers that going back would be nearly fatal...

Rake meanwhile, hissed lowly, frustrated by the absence of the Dilophosaur, though its scent was still fresh. Ugh...Please don't tell me I have to CHASE the damned thing all through the swamp thought the Irritator, annoyed...

The running waters were unusually clear and calm. Why that was so and where the water came from were questions that occurred to him but he didn't have an answer to. And when he had conundrums like that, he usually expected the work of humans to be the solution...

It was a short while at a trotting pace before Aircrest came to the riverbank, shooting looks left, right and upwards from the cover of shrubs and ferns. There was movement everywhere, prehistoric and modern life coexisting. A snake slithered across a tree branch while the undergrowth shook and rustled below its yellow and white body. Colorful birds fluttered from their roosts and flitted over the treeline. Amazingly, even crocodiles found their way down the river, laying in ambush in the water or basking on the mud where the artificial light shone through the leaves.

On more than one occasion, the raptor spied large, aggressive fish tearing chunks out of anything foolish enough to wade into the deeper parts of the river. It was hard to see what the attacker was between the swells created by its thrashing and the blood that made the easy flowing waters run red. From his few glimpses he knew the things were brown on top, had short fins and a stubbed snout. And they were aggressive as all hell.

"They are coming from somewhere..." Aircrest thought as he crept up to the water's edge and carefully proceeded to put his thirst at bay.

He intended to find out what lay upstream...

Cocking his head, the Deinonychus took a sniff, picking up a new scent on the wind. A Raptor. Velociraptor, to be precise. And its scent wasn't like the other scents in this place. This one was a visitor. A potential way out? thought the dark Dromaeosaur, licking the blood from his muzzle. Intrigued, he began to pursue the scent, albeit from a different angle, walking along the top of the rocky ridge running alongside the Raptor's own path. black vine-like objects wrapped in orangy metallic rings ran along the wall, overgrown with leaves, vines and lichen, occasionally interspersed with rectangular light sources the Deinonychus could neither explain nor understand. It lit the path before him, the occasional metallic clank being heard wherever the plant life hadn't overgrown it enough to protect it from his killer claws. Realising this, he began to walk with his claws held high, out of reach of the ground as he made his way forward, noting the path up ahead had collapsed down to the ground below, creating a natural sloping pathway meeting up with the ground the Velociraptor currently walked on. Along the river a distance away, splashing and thrashing drew the Dromaeosaur's attention to the large fish that occupied the waterways, their latest victim a monkey that got too close...

Paradox snorted as he searched the area for any intruders. The coast seemed clear, although he wasn't sure, as the stench of the dead Xiaosaurus overpowered most if not all of the scents in the area at the time. The Abelisaurus started to bury the carcass, kicking dust and dirt upon it, his claws shoveling at the ground...

After some running, Twincrest found herself near a large alcove of rocks near the swampside. It was large enough for her to hide in while eluding detection, and small enough for larger carnivores to be unable to fit in... a useful place she had hid in numerous times to escape the unwanted attention of Spinosaurs. Slowly, she managed to wedge herself in, taking care not to harm her crest. When she was hidden, it was near impossible to see her amongst the mossy green rocks... a near perfect camoflauge...

Cautious vigil led into unrestrained gulps when Aircrest drank, downing mouthfuls at a time but looking up regularly to assess the threat level around him before continuing. He had come too far, learned too much and definitely suffered too greatly to have his downfall come about because of his own greed.

He pulled away, maw dripping when he saw the charcoal gray pebbly figure drifting with the current of the water. To remain in one place was to become a target, so Aircrest went ahead with his plan. He sprinted through the underbrush, the foliage parting around him as he ran, eager to see if his hunch was correct.

If it was, it would be a path less trodden and one that was considerably more easy to manage than the alternative...

Paradox had just about finished burying the corpse; it now had the appearance of a simple lump on the forest floor. The smell of the dead animal had mostly been covered up by the simple and dull scent of dirt, although slivers of death's aroma continued to crawl into the air. The Abelisaurus snorted, as if to confirm that he was finished with his work, and headed back to his den for some rest. He needed a nap anyway...

Rake walked through the swamp slowly, following the scent carefully. It was getting stronger, and more importantly, fresher, with every stride. He was getting close. Lifting his snout upwards, he took in a deep waft of the swamp's air, the Dilophosaur's scent overriding the swamp's natural stench. Glancing around, the Irritator smirked. He was here. "It's not wise to try and avoid me. This could well be your last chance of living here peacefully" hissed the slender-snouted predator ominously, sinister orange eyes scanning the area with a markedly intelligent gaze. This 28 foot predator was far from dim witted...

Pacing down the slanting rock formation, the black, orange-speckled Deinonychus descended, coming into view of the black and green velociraptor below. "Should I assume you actually know a way out of this place? or are you as stuck here as I am?" hissed the dromaeosaur with an arced brow...

Paradox curled up inside of his den and shut his eyes, starting to slow down his breathing pattern to make it easier to sleep. The Abelisaurus had one of his eyes half open to watch the "lump in the ground" until he could not keep it open any longer, finally shutting it and starting to snore...

Bear sighed and began to walk off, her pack following her. That's it, Shade thought. She no longer would be tormented with blame and aggression- at least by the Stokesosaurs...

Aircrest's amber eyes flicked over to the source of the voice and he slowed to a stop before he could run past the larger raptor, his posture defensive. Standing in a half crouch, claws splayed in full view and back arched as if he were about to pounce, Aircrest showed he wasn't the one to be trifled with. "Should I assume you expect every stranger that comes out of the woodwork to answer your questions? If so, sorry to burst your bubble" he snarled with a narrowed gaze.

Shade began to trek away from the area, now in search of food. She needed to eat, and she did not wish to waste her energy on a pack of Stokesosaurs; they were like Albertosaurs with a Velociraptor's speed. The predator began her hunt, heading towards the swamp for something to eat...

Paradox's eye would occasionally pop open every once and a while to check on his buried meal. However, this would not stop him from falling back to sleep, and the black and yellow dinosaur would be able to smell an intruder if one were to come...

"Seems someone woke up on the wrong side of the bone pile this morning" commented the dark scaled, ember-speckled Raptor casually, unfazed by the creature's aggressive attitude. "Enough with the tough Raptor act. If I wanted to attack you I wouldn't've thrown away the advantage of surprise" he growled firmly...

"Who says I don't want to attack you? Bones are uncomfortable and I may just be in a bad mood!" Aircrest retorted, already contemplating his disappearance. At any moment he could disappear into the treetops and after eight years of practice, he could meld into the greenery as well as Ripper could blend into shadows...

"That would be....incredibly foolish of you" hissed the Deinonychus simply. "If you really want to waste the energy that could get you through another day in this wasteland, fighting me, just because you're in a 'bad mood', go right ahead. Or, you could run off somewhere, losing a potential helping hand carving your way out of this pit. Either way, you lose" he growled amusedly...

"I opt for the third option" Aircrest replied before pouncing...

...into the branch immediately over Hellfire, the raptor able to make such a bound without even a grunt of effort and in the blink of an eye he was seemingly gone...

"Have fun working your way out" barked the Deinonychus after the Raptor, before continuing his way down the path. They were seemingly headed the same way anyway, so they were bound to cross paths eventually...

"There won't be much working if I'm right about this..." Aircrest thought as he shot through the treetops, heading against the flow of the river. Upstream, he was certain the river was a sign of another entrance into the chasm. There had to be, how else were crocodiles, snakes and sharks able to pass through? It had to be something fairly small to go unnoticed for so long but it was definitely there nonetheless...

Smirking, the Deinonychus followed the Raptor's scent. It didn't have to agree to a temporary team up for him to make use of its own search for an exit. It got him wondering, however. Why had it been so eager to take a hostile position? If anything, a difficult place such as this, indeed, such as any place on this island, would make a friendly face a very welcome change. And they call me crazy. I'm probably twice as 'mutated' as that Raptor was and yet I'M the sane one. What does that say for the Raptor's state? thought the Deinonychus with a chuckle as he walked onwards, following the scent casually...

As she laid down amongst the rocks, a thought struck Twincrest. Wait... weren't Irritator's rather small, around her size? Heck, she could probably kill it, then hightail it out before THrasher realized what had happened. Besides, she could only pick up the scent of one Irritator... no other Spinosaurs around. Hearing the Irritator's words, she rose up, and turned to face it. It seemed like it had seen Hell, and for a second, she really did think she could take it on. But perhaps humor it's tastes abit... "Here I am, trying to get some sleep, and you come in saying that I'm trying to avoid you?" She snapped in a lie, eyeing the slightly larger predator. "I take it you must be Thrasher's messanger-boy. What must I do then, if I want to live here peacefully?" She asked, her teeth slightly bared. She was not afraid.. and what this Irritator has to say might be something worthwhile... That, and this Irritator stank of the smell of Spinosaurus... more precisely, that of a giant, male Spinosaurus... no doubt Thrasher's scent...

"Don't take me for a fool, spitter. I've lived through three generations of your kind. I know a lie when I hear it. Your tracks in the dirt do little to conceal your rush to hide" hissed the Irritator coldly through narrowed, eerie orange eyes. "You'd be wise not to be so hostile with someone who could kill you in an instant. Much less one who could bring death to you anywhere on the island" he warned, baring his own saw-like fangs. "Thrasher has a proposition for you. Agree to it, and you will be allowed to live freely here. Refuse, and you will be chased out, or killed if you resist" continued the Spinosaurid, still in the same sinister calm. battered though his hide may have been, it was quite obvious that he was far from an easy target...
