Tetto'eko looked back out at the sacrifice, watching as Tehenhauin wrenched the heart of the man's bloody corpse and raised it up in his clawed hand for all to see. "My kind does not have criminals as you know them. Only the Skinks are intelligent enough to perform what would surmount to a criminal action, but we all know how important we are to the Temple-Cities. Without Skinks, there would be no workers. Without the Saurus, there would be no military. Without the Kroxigor, there would be no really heavy-duty workers. Every species in the Lizardmen was created by the Old Ones for a specific purpose to our society, and the last thing we would do is betray our kin. Our kind is so isolationist anyway, criminals would have nowhere to go if they tried to escape, unless they exiled themselves. In my memory, such a thing has never happened." Tetto'eko waved a hand at the sacrifice, continuing, "As for this, it is a religious festival, not a punishment. At best, the human should be honored to become food for the insatiable Blood God we call Sotek." The Skink turned to Septimus, giving the dragon a calm, but firm, stare. "Call us barbaric if you must, but please, do not insult my kind for our actions. This is what the Lizardmen do, and that's that. There will be no changing that, not so long as the Slann lead us." Tetto'eko watched as the Skinks eventually dispersed, Tehenhauin dragging the body and heart away, presumably for a feast at Hexoatl later. "And, of course, when the Slann die out, as they are destined to do if the Old Ones do not return, we will simply revert to our animalistic instincts and join the rest of Lustria in the fight for survival, until we too vanish from this place forever."

"So, you condemn those who do not share your beliefs to death, simply because you need sacrifices to satisfy them? Why not take amongst the faithful of your kind? I'm sure they'd be happy to offer themselves to the cause. If all things operated on this logic, I would invariably eat your kind simply because you're a fitting size and abundant enough to be a prey item. Yet here we are, speaking" responded Septimus calmly. was this why he was led here? to see this? or worse, to become this?

"I did not expect you to understand," Tetto'eko replied with a sigh. "Of course, I did not expect you to see that. I only wished to show you some examples of out greatness, like this statue of Sotek. However, I do not think you will appreciate it anymore." Tetto'eko stepped out into the open after the Skink procession left and added, "In the Lizardmen's defense, the cult of Sotek is a bit... extreme. Sotek is really the only one of our gods who demands sacrifices, and Tehenhauin is particularly zealous in doing so. It used to be that we did not need other races to sacrifice, but times have changed. It is a long story. Come, maybe we can find something else more to your liking..."

"Let me guess...back into the water" rumbled Septimus with mild displeasure. still, it was, at the very least, a learning experience. he didn't expect to like everything he found outside of the Hueilin community..

"Well, I guess I should go now," Saurgu said after the long period of silence, before leaping off of the perch she, Ikargu and Sarah were at, soon flying off towards her hom deeper within the mountain range...

By now, the arranged millitary was heading out of Tristan and toward the town of Susano. in the front of the organized army, the militia marched forward, their shields before them as an impenetrable barrier. The few Zeuglodons lying across the road were shoo'ed aside, the predators, not being in their element for attack, simply hissed, and slipped into the swamp on either sides of the road. Behind the soldiers were the calvary an the War Elephants, and behind those were the archers and the servants of local nobles pushing the few large Trebuchets as fast as they could. The servant in charge, dressed up as Trajan himself, smirked as he looked back at the forces they had. Certainly with this stuff, the fools that overtook Susano would learn to fear the might of Germania!

"Fortunately for you, no," Tetto'eko chirped. "However, we will have to walk." He skirted the statue of Sotek and scampered farther into the jungle, calling over his shoulder, "I'm sure you can handle it, my friend!"

Sarah waves to Saurgu before letting out a yawn. "It's getting late. I'm going to rest...."

She gets up and heads towards the back of the cave....

The servant holds onto his shortsword's hilt, a look of discomfort on his face.

"Whatever's here, I'll make sure to strike it down....."

Khorne continues looknig about, seeing the occasional forest troll run out of the forest, and zeugludons from a small body of water nearby....

Ikargu nods, sitting on his perch with his tail swaying behind him as he watched the clouds slowly float by along with Saurgu leaving his home, slowly disappearing...

Septimus moved to pursue, pulling his wings tightly to his flanks as he moved into a fast walk through the trees, winding between them easily, the long, slender form of the Dragon working to his advantage...

"What else are you here for, servant of Draco?" said Andruil through narrowed eyes, wary...

The servant says, "I told you all I know. I've told you my goal here. I've told you that I regret my past. Is that not enough for you to trust me? I am not a monster.... but something here is....." The servant loosens his grip on his shortsword....

Arsenic kept his telepathic probes flickering across the surface of the servant's mind, much like an ant's antennae ghosting along in front of its head, picking up even the flashes of half-formed thoughts as they chased each other in the servant's head. Meanwhile, he was extending other thought-tendrils to the cat's consciousness, and to the rest of the building, trying to pick up on what the feline had sensed.

The cat felt the mental probing and hid its true nature quite well, not wanting the others to know just yet. Instead, it gave the elf a clue: Giving him the thought of the servant not being alone...

Arsenic carefully masked his surprise at the response from the cat, then shot a look at Andruil, accompanied by a thought aimed straight at the man. Something must have followed the servant in, he said, then turned back to the cat and tried to get a better impression of whatever had come with the servant might be.

Zazikel's mind was equally resistant to mental probing as Tzeentch's, and he remained hidden, hoping he would stay undetected near the servant. He made a mental note to get Tzeentch back for this later...

"There are many methods of infiltration, Draxon. Not all require their host's consent. For all we know, the infiltrator may be within you....without you even knowing" said Andruil in response. "Afterall...They would have had ample time to implant such a tool....considering you were a servant in Draco's court. Is it really so inconceivable?"...

Arsenic was still trying to detect any presence that shouldn't be there. He scoured the building with his mind, searching out the tiniest flickers of life, but found nothing. He kept alert though, envisioning his consciousness as a wolf pacing the inn, sniffing out the thoughts that didn't belong.
