Bit by bit, the trail was turning around. The forest seemed oddly quiet in the wake of the Tyrannosaur, though it would be hard to identify the cause. Before long, the trees were beginning to thin once more, and the distant, rhythmic thumping of a large creature could be felt through the earth beneath the Dilophosaur's feet...

Meanwhile, Crusher found himself eyeing a Spinosaur in the far distance. By its size and armoured looking hide, he suspected it may very well be one of Thrasher's closer relatives...an enforcer of his will, or a border patrol, perhaps. The long-snouted piscivore was feeding from a river flowing out of the Most Dominant Predator's territory. As he watched, the red ring around his slitted pupils expanded, taking up nearly half of the eye's surface in it's eerie red-orange hue. He made no effort to hide himself, pacing on along the edge of the territory, skirting the borders as he walked, each stride shaking the ground below, the Spinosaur's gaze shifting towards him, narrowing as it rose from its crouch at the water's edge, lips curling into a snarl...

Hellfire swiftly picked up the call, though suspicions were raised. He entered the undergrowth, being as careful as he could to avoid making noise or leaving tracks, wary not to alert those in the area of his presence. It was a skill he had learned well in his years alone. The pack's top hunter before his departure, his skill had only sharpened as he aged...

It was only a brief few minutes before he stopped, a dozen feet behind the Raptor from earlier. A couple of brief clicking sounds were all the warning he gave of his presence, having managed to avoid the foliage around him with such care no sound would have alerted any to his presence otherwise...

Aircrest turned to the noise and spotted the Deinonychus crouched down in the vegetation, the breaks in the treetops showering the jungle floor with specks of orange light. The raptor found the larger dromaeosaur's coloring eerily fitting for the area. A rare instance where a dinosaur could probably hide in plain sight.

"The third option? Yeah, it isn't gonna work out too well here I think," Aircrest rumbled lowly to the Deinonychus. "and I don't have to tell you what lies up ahead...so what do you say about teaming up and getting out of this hole?"

With the trees thinning out and the rumbling beneath her feet, Twincrest slowed down and began to move cautiously. No doubt she was getting near to the source... as she slowly moved forward, she made certain to avoid detection, or if that failed, to act like a normal scavenging Dilophosaur, and not a spy for the Island's ruler...

The Postosuchus found itself snarling and hissing in pain as its left foreleg was caught in the jaws of the attacking Abelisaurus, before a sickening crunch could be heard. Paradox began to twist and thrash his head wildly, attempting to rip off the limb of the Postosuchus. He let go, the foreleg bleeding what seemed to be gallons, although it was much less. The hunter then rammed the Postosuchus's side, making the beast stagger, which allowed Paradox to slam down his teeth upon the foreleg again, and with a final twist, the leg was removed with a disgustingly loud rip. Blood poured from the stump that was formerly a leg. The Postosuchus fell over, snarling in shock and fear as Paradox roared in victory. Small pterosaurs and Compsognathus started to surround the wounded beast already. The vision of the Postosuchus blurred more and more by the moment...

"I'm glad to see you came around to my way of thinking" hissed the smirking Dromaeosaur lowly, barely audibly over the sound of the environment, intentionally avoiding giving any signs of life or activity here, knowing danger could be anywhere...

The Spinosaur soon straightened as it turned to eye the Rex, splaying its claws dangerously as its long, narrow jaws parted, the massive array of jagged teeth glinting in the light as the beast eyed him. "Your last chance to run, Rex. Don't waste it" hissed the Spinosaur, a large red-brown male covered in superficial scars. It was obvious it was an experienced fighter, and there was no fear in its eyes to indicate it had any doubt in its ability to handle him. "I should say the same to you, Spinosaur. Your kind have been a living nightmare for everyone on the island...killed many....hurt more...Some have grown sick of it. Save yourself the agony of being ripped limb from limb like your comrade North of here...Run to Thrasher and tell him his end is near...and that it will be long, bloody, and more painful than he could ever imagine" snarled Crusher acidly, his voice rattling in a depth reminiscent of rolling thunder, the Tyrannosaur's massive fangs bared as orange-red eyes stared at the long snouted saurian before him. "Brave words coming from a Fallen Race, Tyrannosaur....Let's see you back up your words with power...then we'll decide whose end will be bloody and painful" hissed the Spinosaur with a sinister smirk, letting out a long shrieking roar at the Rex as it hammered its tail into the ground heavily, the thump easily felt for miles. "So be it" was Crusher's only response, a short snarl rolling in the Tyrannosaur's throat as he moved forward, beginning to move to one side, his hide shifting shades, becoming more vibrant and eerie, as seemingly glowing eyes glared at the Spinosaur, standing out on the side of the Rex's face shaded from the early afternoon's sun, an almost fiery glimmer visible in his gaze as he paced, the Spinosaur's own green eyes staring back sinisterly...

Now watching the fight from a safe distance and from under cover, Twincrest now had her eyes locked onto the Tyrannosaur... and immediately, she recognized him as her target. Indeed, he was a picture perfect specimen for his race, a giant of giants... but it took more than size and words to make a powerful foe. The Dilophosaur listed to every word spoken... so it was the case that this Rex had a bone to pick with Thrasher... He would be interested to know just what he was up against... but first, a little more info to be gathered.

"I wasn't left with much of a choice, stranger" replied the green raptor with a hushed growl and then he turned around to face the tunnel. From what he could see from his position amidst the trees and low lying plants, the muddy banks of the river gave way to once-gray surfaces; turned green with algae and lichen over the years of abandonment. That river was no river at all. It was a canal of some sort.

"...Why would humans need to make a river down here...?" Aircrest wondered. Though his knowledge of the ones who built the ruins and created his kind was vast in comparison to the average dinosaur, he could not have divined that the flow of the current was a part of what kept the chasm in a constant state of light, a never ending day.

Not inclined to linger on the thought, Aircrest gathered his nerve and made great haste in making his approach, sticking to his cover as best as he could and taking great care where he walked. The last thing he needed to do was step in some corpse hidden in the vegetation...

The Postosuchus's sandy brown scales were slowly fading into a pale-tan color. Paradox looked down at the nearly slain beast, which was now at the point of twitching. Its sides were still moving, which was a sign of breathing, but they were very slow, and almost barely visible. Paradox snorted and grabbed the Postosuchus by the throat, planning on dragging it back to his lair...

The Spinosaur's gaze narrowed as it circled with the Rex, not risking a frontal assault. No. It would wait until it attacked first...surrender its advantage. At least, that's what it thought. But when the Rex charged, it was anything but vulnerable. The lunging barrier of muscle and fangs rippled with power as it closed in, the Spinosaur craning its neck as it reared, attempting to gain the high ground and force the Rex down, fangs and jaws braced for collision with the Tyrannosaur as it stood on one leg in the face of the charging predator, dropping its full weight down on top of Crusher, planning to pin him and kill him in a quick, simple movement...

It was not to be. As the Spinosaur leaned forward and came down, Crusher suddenly shifted tactics, massive jaws slamming shut on the Spinosaur's foot as he kept charging, sweeping it off its feet and ruining any sense of balance it had, thrashing to one side as he brought his shoulder forward, slamming sideways into the Spinosaur and knocking it to the flaw with an earth shaking quake, the Rex letting go of the foot as the Spinosaur fell, a rattling snarl coming from the Tyrannosaur as he circled the downed Spinosaur, the sailed saurian struggling to its feet after the breath-stealing fall. As the Spinosaur rose, Crusher struck again, fangs tearing into its sail and biting off a considerable chunk of spine bones and connecting flesh and muscle, the Spinosaur screeching in agony as it thrashed, ramming the Rex back and off of it as it spun around, jaws and claws flailing in blind fury as blood ran down its back, the Rex crunching the flesh in his jaws and gulping it down, lips curling menacingly as he swallowed, licking his fangs tauntingly as he eyed the Spinosaurid...

"I seem to remember telling you something similar when I first offered the option" hissed the Deinonychus as they descended, the Dromaeosaur falling silent as they closed in, eyes watching the surroundings with a hunter's attention, wary of threats in the undergrowth...

As Twincrest watched the fight, she took note of how the Tyrannosaur was fighting. It seemed as if this Rex knew how to fight... and was doing a damn good job at it. Perhaps... Once more, Twincrest shook her head. No, no, no. It wasn't the rex being good, it was the Spinosaurus not knowing how to fight. Really, anyone with half a brain would have seen that maneuver coming a mile away. Thrasher needs to keep his underlings in shape... both in mind and body. Twincrest thought to herself as she watched the one-sided conflict, while mentally preparing what she would say in her report of this Tyrannosaur...

Ba'al was far away form hsi territory, he had realized that much by now. He did not recognize where he had arrived, nor did he smell any of his old scent markers... wherever he was, he was a great distance from his territory. But he did smell the scent of the Tyrannosaur he had been tracking... and the smell of blood as well. Not only that, but the slightest scent of.... something else lurked nearby. Curious, but cautious, Ba'al soon headed towards the scents he had caught....

Hissing, the Spinosaur lunged forward, arcing so its shoulder would hit the Rex, though it was countered by Crusher, who swung his head into the beast's rib-cage in a counter, the collision audible as both were stopped in place, stumbling from the force of the hit. The Spinosaur recovered earlier, twisting as it snapped its jaws onto the Rex's neck, claws gripping the same area to keep him from thrashing, attempting to twist as it did so, the movement having killed many predators in the past, Rexes included. In a split second decision, Crusher dropped into a crouch, before forcing himself up with his legs, thrashing as he did so, shaking the Spinosaur off as he rammed sideways, knocking it back and off him, an audible crack being heard as the Spinosaur screeched in pain, the movement having twisted one of its wrists too far, breaking the creature's hand. Thrashing as it backed away, the Spinosaur let loose a deafening screech of fury, only to be drowned out by the booming roar of the Rex, whose colours at this were far more heavily contrasted than they were before, his once golden eyes now a menacing shade of red, seeming to glow in the shade...

Twincrest was taken back by this... This rex was like a chameleon... changing colors, and the display was visually intimidating. That, and it was becoming harder and harder for her to mentally dismiss this as the spino being a falure of a fighter... What she was seeing didn't match what she had overhead the local Spinosaurids mention about Tyrannosaurs, that they were cowards who barely knew how to fight... it didn't match at all...

"I will not give you another warning. Leave with your life, or stay and suffer the consequences" snarled Crusher, the snarl seeming to rip through the chests of those around him, its sheer power easily felt even a considerable distance away. "I am going to BREAK you, just like I did Spectre and the rest of your kind" screeched the Spinosaur furiously as it charged, Crusher's lips curling into a terrifying scowl, the Rex charging forward in response, the Spinosaur moving to one side, intending to come in at an angle and knock the Rex over with its higher mass; a move that would smash ribs on a normal Rex. Crusher however, saw it coming. as the closed in on eachother, the Rex ducked down, lowering his head before swinging it up and into the Spinosaur's own, the creature stumbling as it barely regained its footing in time to keep it from falling, though it gave the Rex the opening he needed. With a ferocious snarl the Rex's jaws slammed shut on the Spinosaur's neck, the Spinosaur hissing as it reared upwards, attempting to pull free before the Rex brought the full extent of its bone crushing strength to bear. Crusher didn't intend to let it break free. Rising onto one foot, using the Spinosaur's own weight to support him, he sent a vicious kick at its stomach, foot talons tearing vicious gouges in its stomach as he swung his head to one side, bringing him back down on his feet but throwing off the Spinosaur's balance, the beast hitting the floor heavily, a pained screech coming from the sailed saurian as it hit the ground, the Rex backing away and beginning to circle the Spinosaur, a rattling snarl rumbling in his throat the likes of which hadn't been heard on the island in nearly 20 years...

Twincrest didn't know what to make of this... this Tyrannosaur... this wasn't an ordinary Rex... this was some sort of freak, an intelligent, powerful freak. This thing... she suddenly felt the urge to get as far away from it as possible, to perserve her own skin least this... thing turn it's wrath against her, but as much as she feared it, she also wanted to keep her home in Thrasher's territory. She didn't want to have to suffer competition from other similar-sized dinosaurs... she like dher relativly easy life in the swamps... so she stayed and watched the mauling that was occuring...

The smell of blood became overwhelming. But more than just blood filled the nostrils of Ba'al as he neared the sight of the conflict. The smell of the spinosaur, drowned out in its blood, soon fileld his nostrils. The rex's aura became almost unbearably strong, Ba'al's senses almost focusing solely on the rex. Ba'al's poor eyes peered through the thick shrubbery, catching a glimpse at this rex, as he listened in on his battle with the Spinosaur. This was a special one... he could tell by both the rex's appearence, and his scent. He could not place his finger on it, but this tyrannosaur had an odd aura about him.

But more than just the rex and the spinosaur fell into his powerful nostrils. There was something nearby... an intruder on the conflict? A bystander? Perhaps a curious onlooker, such as himself? It was a small theropod, for sure. For now, Ba'al paid little heed to it. He focused on this conflict....

As the Spinosaur tried to get up, it suddenly felt an agonising pain tear through it's back, the peak of its once proud sail now held down to the ground by the Rex, his sheer weight threatening to smash the spinal bones despite taking care not to. It would not have the pleasure of a swift and easy death. "Then it seems the time has come for the roles to be reversed...this time you are the one to be broken, battered, and killed. Spectre...my father...will have his revenge today" snarled the Rex in a chilling calm as the Spinosaur struggled, the Rex standing in a position that it couldn't reach.suddenly, white hot pain tore through it's flank, the Rex biting into it's side and ripping a large slab of flesh off, gulping it down, literally eating the Spinosaur alive. A horrified screech exploded from the snouted saurian's jaws as it thrashed and struggled, though unable to pull itself to its feet when its spine was in such a vulnerable position. Just as the Spinosaur thought it had numbed to the pain, a second, horrific pain burst from it's shoulder, its eyes shifting down to see the Rex biting down on it's shoulder and upper arm. "STOP! PLEASE! DON'T DO THI-" pleaded the Spinosaur before unleashing another screech of agony, the Rex tearing it's only intact arm off, the limb ripping from its socket, the sickening sound of the flesh tearing only muffled by the beast's horrified scream, bones smashing and flesh ripping as the Rex lifted the limb up, biting down hard as the lower end of the arm, not in his mouth, was cleaved off, dropping to the floor by the Spinosaur's head. By now, a series of yellow eyes could be seen watching from the shadows of the treeline deeper into the Spinosaur's territory; Baryonyx, Irritators and other smaller Spinosaurids that were taking shelter in this Spinosaur's territory coming to investigate, only to stop dead as they saw their protector and ally be eaten alive by the ferocious Tyrannosaur...

This.. this was cold-blooded torture. Never had Twincrest seen this kind of brutality and sadistic pleasure taken out on an individual... for any other species, this sort of sight woul dhave been an insult, but seeing as this Tyrannosaur had done it to a Spinosaurus... he had just declared war against Thrasher. All of a sudden, Twincrest was beginning to view Thrasher in a far better light... atleast from what she knew, he wasn't this kind of sickening monster...Oh the joy THrasher would have when she would tell him of wahtever information she managed to get on this T-rex...

The shuddering Spinosaur shifted in place, horrified, in agony, and losing blood, and with it, consciousness. "Why..?" gurgled the predator weakly, staring up at the bitter, chillingly cold eyes of the Tyrannosaur standing over it. "Because 16 years ago, you and your kind did the same to my family. You were a fool to assume you would not eventually pay for it" snarled Crusher, the Spinosaur closing its eyes, cringing, both in pain and in regret...it should have known they had missed someone. "End it....please" pleaded the Spinosaur finally, the Rex rising, thinking for a brief moment whether to grant it the final request. "Very well" snarled the Rex, jaws parting as he lowered his head to the Spinosaur's neck, the finned predator simply trembling, agony reaching the point it couldn't even bring itself to cry out, knowing it couldn't recover from this grave an injury. It was better off this way...Even if it survived the injuries, a worse fate awaited should it live long enough to see Thrasher's reaction...to die was a mercy in ways the Rex couldn't begin to guess...

And just like that, it ended. A sickening crunch sounded out as the Rex's jaws slammed shut with full force on the Spinosaur's neck, bones turning to meal under the assault of the predator's fangs, head hanging limply before being ripped from the predator's shoulders, being dropped beside the corpse and crushed underfoot, just as had been done to the previous Spinosaur. And with that, the Rex continued onwards, leaving the onlookers to examine the destruction left in his wake...

Twincrest hid in the undergrowth as the Tyrannosaur moved on, the Dilophosaurus shaken and ultimately realizing why Thrasher had deemed this individual to be such a nusiance... no, it was more than that, it was a leginimate threat to his ruling of the island. What she had heard, she now knew why this Rex was doing this... revenge. A beast driven by deep-burning revenge was a beast near impossible to stop, and this Tyrannosaur was more of a monster than a beast... Did it even have any weaknesses, any friends to be exploited, any allies to corrupt and torture?
