"I do believe we are almost... ahah!" Tetto'eko chirped. He was surprised that the trek through the jungle had been mostly uneventful, but he didn't question it. It was certainly a good sign. The Skink Priest shook off these thoughts as the loamy forest floor gradually receded, giving way to cracked, uneven cobblestone streets. As they became clearer and cleaner, it was possible to see strange, angular symbols of gold embedded in the borders of the avenue the pair was walking down. Eventually, the forest gave way to a giant temple-city, though it was obviously in disrepair. Chunks of stone littered the streets, and many of the smaller buildings were either completely demolished or at least partially damaged, with the exception of the massive ziggurat in the center of the city. As Tetto'eko passed by a cluster of dark, stagnant pools, he explained. "This is Chaqua, City of Gold. At least, that's what it used to be called. It was abandoned during the Great Catastrophe, when Demons first entered this world, then refounded. However, we were forced to abandon the city again after... Well... It's a long story." Obviously eager to change the subject, he turned to the pools. "Ah, the Spawning Pools of my kind. Long since made sterile and useless. No more Skinks will be born from this place, nor will any Lizardman."

Syria took a breath and put her hand to the door, cautiously pushing it open. She hoped she wouldn’t see the lobby in complete disarray with furniture over turned and things missing, with the stranger who knows where in the large building. What she saw instead was the crates and packages she had on the cart set down on the wooden floor in an almost circular fashion, with open cases such as the series of books put on the large desk that was mere feet away from the door. Desrium stood in the center of the circle, glancing at the packages and eyeing a few curiously, especially the sealed wooden crates. Despite his curiosity, he didn’t fiddle with anything, instead choosing to stand still in the center of the room with his normal stance. Straight back, arms to his sides, his gaze moving over to the door and seeing Syria step in and lock the door. She seemed relieved. "She must be happy to be back here" Desrium thought. "It’s good to be home. I trust that you didn’t strain yourself with anything?" She asked as she walked past the desk, undoing her coat as she did. “Home” Desrium thought, a glow emanating from his eyes as he gained insight on the meaning of the word. This time he didn’t bother trying to conceal it; the room was lit by an oil lamp that had a small flame flickering about within. As far as Syria knew, the glow in Desrium’s eyes was just a trick of the light. The new knowledge only made him realize that he didn’t have a place to call a home. It was somewhat disheartening. "Not in the least, but could I ask what, exactly, is all of this?" Desrium replied, trying to divert his attention to another matter. Syria draped her coat onto a coat rack and replied "I’ve been working on a new part of the inn for a while now. A library of sorts; a library isn’t a library without any books, so I go a little bit of my own travelling when I get the chance and acquire all sorts of reading material" Desrium cocked his head. "You just leave whenever you can?"
"Whenever the council can spare someone. I’m sure you've run into Gor by now, the burly guard at Daaven's main gate?" Syria asked. "The one who called me a demon..." Desrium thought, letting out a quiet irritated hiss. "Yes, I’ve 'run into him'..." The armored being replied, his voice low. "I take it you two didn’t get along well?" Syria asked. Desrium’s eyes flashed. “You call it…first impressions, yes? We didn’t make good first impressions on each other…” He said, but mentally commented “He didn’t make a good impression on me, at least”
“I’m not surprised” Syria said simply. “He’s a council guard and your… well…uh…” She trailed off.
“Different” Desrium said to finish her sentence. “Different from the rest of you” He let out a sigh that sounded suspiciously like a hiss and his fingers flexed, for a split second looking as if they would be balled into fists before relaxing. “I was going to say that you were a stranger…and anyway, whenever Gor is free from council business, he takes the inn off my hands so I can go out” Syria replied with a weak chuckle afterwards. She felt a bit bad; obviously the stranger didn’t take kindly to being judged. She sighed. “Look, it’s getting late, and you must be tired from the day. How about I show you your room?” She offered. Desrium nodded slowly and said “Yes…yes, that would be nice. Thank you” Syria moved behind the desk, pulling out the master key she took from her coat pocket and putting it into a cupboard lock at the bottom left side of the desk. Once it was opened, Syria browsed through a collection of keys with their respective room labeled on top. She pulled out a brass key that was labeled “Cophor” and had a small chain running through the end, so it could be hung up. She handed it to Desrium, who had moved closer to the desk to get a peek at what was going on, but failing to see much. It was all so quick, she opened the cabinet, took a few seconds to run her eyes across the collection of keys before choosing one. Desrium took the key and after a short moment of thought, decided to slip the chain over his right shoulder spike for now. “Come now” Syria said as she walked off. Desrium followed suit, heading deeper into the building before turning left, heading up a staircase. Desrium’s eyes glowed again as he learned what the construct was, glad that Syria was ahead of him. The dim oil lamp wouldn’t explain the phenomena now as it was darker in this part of the inn. Not too long later, he was lead to a door on the second floor, two doors down a hallway on his right side. “Cophor” Syria said with a mock bow, gesturing to the door. “Old Daavenian for ‘cozy’, all the rooms are named something. Some people just stick to floor and door number, but I stick to tradition. Call me old fashioned” She said with a shrug. “Old fashioned” Desrium said flatly. Syria rolled her eyes. “You told me to say it…” the armored being thought, perplexed. Shortly after, Syria cracked a pleasant smile and said “Goodnight, Desrium. Keep in mind that your earning your right to stay here, so you might have a few chores tomorrow!” Desrium nodded, and after Syria had walked back to the staircase to tend to packages downstairs, Desrium plucked the key off of his armor. His eyes flashed as he learned what they were used for, and not too long later he slipped the key into its lock, turned and opened the door to his place; his new home.

"And that has something to do with the abandonment? or is that a side effect?" rumbled the Dragon as he followed, eying his surroundings...

"It is why we can never go back," Tetto'eko explained. "This is what caused us to be driven out the second time." The Skink slowly made his way towards the majestic central temple jutting up from the surrounding structures...

Septimus followed silently for a few moments, considering the facts, thinking about it. "Would information about this be found in a library somewhere?" he growled...

Andruil walked towards Arsenic and Vix, looking between the two. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

Arsenic's mental voice was strained as he replied, 'Give us a hand, here.' He had joined Vix, Dante, and two others in lifting the beam from the pinned assassin. Even combined, their efforts were doing little to budge the beam - which itself was half-pinned under the collapsed wall that had trapped the wounded servant. A few other assassins were helping to try to shift the section of wall. The pinned assassin was conscious and letting out groans of pain; Vix was doing her best to reassure him that it would be over soon.

"Not likely," Tetto'eko replied. "The Lizardmen are not very forthcoming with their own history..."

The captain dismounts his horse after a moment, hooking her up to a pole as she snorted, before walking forward. "This is it, men," he said, before pressing his hand against a man-made stone wall, hitting one of the rectangular bricks and pushed it in, causing the ground in the area to rumble as it rose into multiple vines. It had appeared hat way, anyways, as the lead man and three others soon went inside, finding nothing more than stones and a wooden door ahead surrounding them, a long fogotten and abandoned temple lying right there...

Andruil nodded, moving forward and putting a hand under the edge of the beam, making sure he had a firm hold before looking at the others. "Ok...One...Two....Three!" he said, pulling upwards on three, doing what he could to lift it high enough to free the assassin...

"Unfortunate" rumbled Septimus as he continued after the Skink. it seemed he would have to wait till Tetto'eko decided to tell him on his own....

The servant was beginning to come free from his trap now, managing to get one leg out.....

The guards of Freyr-Lunge stand guard, looking for possible threats. The past days had been chaotic, and they would let nothing escape their sight.....

The captain and the three foot soldiers go deeper into the abandoned ruins of the temple, leaving the other six outside to guard the main door from any possible attacks that may come.

Shez continues walking on with the map, kicking a rock out of his way into some bushes, a few small lizards and anoles scrambling away and a couple of birds flying out soon afterwards...

"Sorry! Me make mistake," Shezz replied, lowering his head a bit further into the map, his nose appearing to be touching the paper itself as he read it.

The lead of the group soon kicks the rotting, wooden door down, before going in with one other, the latter carrying a lantern, while the other two of the smaller group look at everything in the first room...

"Couple more miles, friend. We on sidepath now, near main road," Shezz responded in an almost huan-like manner, his face still close to the map as he read it and looked at the details somewhat carefully.

Inside of the inner part of the temple itself, the two enter a tomb filled with riches, mainly broze, silver or golden coins and other goods to use. "I believe we just struck a new life!" the captain exclaimed, before calling out to the others, "you two! Get one of those riders to inform the king of this finding! Have the rest come in and help us transport all of this!"

The red goblin quickly climbed over the horse corpse soon afterwards, not taking his eyes off the map, however.

Quickly, one of the riders commanded his horse to charge back to the kingdom, the animal doing so in an instant, staying on the path as it neared it. Everyone else moved into the tomb and grabbed the riches from an eld emperor, transporting them outside into the forest soon after cleaning them of spiders, webs and other things...
