The Deinonychus chuckled briefly, eyes narrowing at the threat. "Sorry, fluffy, but I care too little for that. No one rules this island. Even the so-called Most Dominant is an empty title to make superpredators feel more important. Always has been, always will be. Anyone who thinks differently is too naive to realise it" hissed the orange-speckled Dromaeosaur as he looked the mutant in the eyes. "You and your friends have a bad reputation for being irrational and insane once you leave your watering holes...Your offers of 'freedom' and 'life' are hollow. Everyone dies eventually. I'm not gonna change the way I live for that. As far as I'm concerned, I have all the freedom I need, and I am very much alive and kicking" growled Hellfire, his expression as flat as ever. For a moment, he had suspected that he may have been wrong about these creatures...but then that suspicion came crashing down. They truly were nothing more than bloodthirsty beasts striving for dominance...Thrasher in miniature...it was an entertaining, if concerning thought...

Sarraya watched the Monolophosaurus as it departed, somewhat surprised at how agreeable it was. Still, it mattered little. So long as it didn't pester her, she didn't care what it did. Tilting her head, she glanced towards the tree-line in the distance, sensing a rumble in the earth from the other giant approaching. Before long, the trees began to sway, a flock of tropical birds scattering as they were shaken from their roost...

The glowing eyes floated from side to side as the creature shook its head in disappointment. "Short sighted," it said, "there is always a flaw in my candidates. I try to show them mercy as the future draws closer with each passing day, and they resist for any number of reasons. Even you, the one who supposedly cares for nothing."

It returned its sights to the deinonychus, head cocked. It spoke, "And you call my kind irrational? Think, please. When our kind drives all of yours into the ground and feasts on your carcasses, who else but ourselves would be left to inherit this island? We will be unopposed, our hierarchy cemented. We will be left to govern ourselves, without these toxic alliances created by foolhardy figureheads to tip the balance of things. And you could enjoy this future until however old you grow... or you can stay your course and die here long before it ever becomes reality. We are all over this island, raptor. Your defiance will not be remembered."

"You said it yourself. You intend to kill all of 'my kind' off. Do you really think that every single one of you will recognise any 'deal' I make with you?" hissed Hellfire with a chuckle. "If it's not you trying to gut me, it'll be some other one that didn't get the message" he growled as he paced, before shifting his gaze back to the predator. "The way it looks to me, it's two ways to die...One having bowed my head in misguided submission, only to be an accidental victim of mis-aimed aggression....or the other, knowing exactly who is friend, and who is foe" he explained. "I don't care for much. But I live my life on my own terms....not those of creatures that think they're better than me. You call me short sighted...but the way it looks to me, I'm looking far further than you are" he added, tilting his head with a raised brow...

Soon, the trees began to sway as a second Tyrannosaur entered the gametrail, her ocelot-like patterns striking even in her later years. The female strode across the gametrail, keeping near the treeline, avoiding the various herbivores as she made her way to Sarraya, saliva dripping from her fangs as hunger gnawed at her insides, demanding to be sated. Sarraya, in turn, stood silent, a wary vigil as she watched for threats while the older female approached...

"And do you think this policy just sprung up the other day?" the other creature retorted. "For quite some time now, the more sensible of your kind have been joining our ranks, be they big or small. We have yet to have... incident." Its gaze leveled then, before it added, "Or are you just inherently devoid of trust? I suppose it is to be expected from your type. All the best warriors of your kind are damaged in some way, it seems. Those failed candidates of mine."

The creature waved its arm dismissively. "It might not matter, what your decision is. I could let you go from here without a fight and if you survive the advancement of the Displaced, you will find that all the prey will have our gifts as well. If you don't intend to starve to death, you may end up joining us, yet. Remember this. I will look forward to being an equal to you..."

"Hmmm, another starving tyrannosaur. How strange," hissed the large scavenger calmly. Even if the two fought and one was wounded terribly, he gave his word not to pester. Trumpeting a hadrosaur's bugle perfectly, he gripped a thick branch above him, jumping hard enough to heave himself higher, making his way to the bird nests higher up, hoping for a tasty surprise.

While the bright eyed female was watching the herbivores down below, the old pterosaur was watching an open space where he noticed a flock of birds soared high into the air in unison. He squinted hard, looking for whatever caused his brethren of the sky leave in haste. He caught a glimpse of massive, thick jaws, before letting loose an earsplitting screech, alerting the female and Ebony, who was already sleeping before the sound shook his ear drums. "What is it?" growled the pair as the stood in front of the winged reptile. "At least one rex has entered the territory from the western border," squawked Coaty. Rumbling deeply in anger, the two charged down the side of the mountain.

"If that day comes, we will either already be dead, or too old to fight. I don't know about you, but I expect the former" growled Hellfire with a chuckle. "Assuming it does, though....Good luck. Whatever end result comes to pass will only be a harder world for you to live in..." he added calmly. So there were non-mutants helping them...this was a troubling development...

As the older female reached the kill, the younger stepped back, letting her mother feed. "Any luck finding Crusher?" growled Sarraya. "He's at the centre of the island. He won" growled Zephora. "No. Really? He actually killed Thrasher?!" responded Sarraya in shock. "No. He let him live and forced him out" growled Zephora, the ocelot-striped female tearing a large chunk of flesh and gulping it down. "What? He let him live?" responded Sarraya in shock. "Unless Ripper's wrong, but Ripper's never wrong" responded the older Rex, Sarraya snarling lowly. "He'd better have a good excuse" rumbled the younger female as she tore into the kill once more, feeding hungrily on the dead Hadrosaur...

The veiled creature bowed its head and sighed. It was unclear if it was frustrated or tired, it seemed that it was faced with similar situations numerous times. Each time ended the same, if its words were to be believed. "You will not join us, and no mere wanderer would spend as much effort as you did to surmount our great walls. Clearly, you came here to fight us."

It looked up, the large eyes narrowing in a fierce display of aggression. "You will not leave this pl--"

"The other one's gone!" another voice echoed elsewhere in the building.

"What!?" came the incredulous screech of another guard.

"He went into a tree and hasn't come out... it's like he's become a part of it or something!"

"You idiot! He's just hiding! He's still in that same place!"

All of a sudden, the clinking of claws on metal filled the chamber as the Displaced scrambled. Calls and barks relayed their orders and bickering. Dark shapes flew off of the uppermost walkways, landing heavily behind the one with glowing eyes. Even more were darting back and forth, leaping over the broken sections, trying to secure all other entrances into the building.

The speaker of the mutants let out a rattling, irritated hiss. "Tell me, raptor, about your friend. What is it that he's doing now?"

Hellfire smirked. Aircrest had made use of the distraction. "You keep asking and I keep telling you" he growled. "You really expect the one who doesn't care, to know?" hissed the Deinonychus simply, his eyes shifting to the creature's many comrades, ears tuned to their bickering, disorientated reactions...

The creature was rigid in place, starting at Hellfire without response, silent, unmoving. It was like this for the greater part of a minute before striking out with an explosion of movement, arms outstretched. It lunged into the light, legs raised and claws splayed, almost like a raptor. But it wasn't. As soon as it left the shadows, it was clear that the creature that gave Hellfire the offer was no other than a troodon, its snout, the rear of its head, back, ankles and tail covered in feathers. The feathers gradually grew larger along its body, with the tail and arm feathers being the largest and the ankle ones being slender and spur-like. The creatures behind the troodon rushed into view as well, revealing themselves to be quilled velociraptors.

The Deinonychus's head craned back, pulling out of reach of the overgrown entrance and out of reach of any grasping claws that tried to reach through the gaps. "Ah, so I finally get to see what my conversation partner looks like" hissed Hellfire, unperturbed, knowing that attempting to get to him would entail pushing past the heavy overgrowth closing off the entrance. It was as much an obstacle to his entrance as it was to their exit. "If you think scaring me is going to do anything, you still haven't realised the extent of how little I care. Granted, even if it did work, I still wouldn't tell you anything. Can't tell you what I don't know...unless you'd like me to mislead you" added the fire-speckled Dromaeosaurid as he watched, meanwhile wary of his surroundings...just in case one of them tried an unseen path to get around him...

The two carnotaurs charged out of the brush, stopping suddenly at what they saw. They watched as the two tyrannosaurs gored on a parasaurolophus. This infuriated them. Those two were feeding on Blue and Eb's prey on their territory! But they couldn't do anything about it. They had hoped that the old flyer was correct about it being only one rex. But with two it would be almost suicidal to try to scare/fight away from their kill and territory. Growling and snorting in frustration, they watched, hoping they left soon.

The sound of rustling leaves were disguised by the fierce snarling and growling from the other side of the vine-wall as the troodon and his raptor companions made it a point to cause as much noise as they could. As Hellfire spoke, he was oblivious to the threat descending from the entrance overhead, sliding along the branches above before leaping off. Before the large raptor knew it, he was being pinned by the weight several staurikosaurs on his back, driven to the ground by their collective momentum. They were bulkier than their normal counterparts, bony knobs protruding from their scaly bodies, looking like small, lightly armored gators. They laid across the deinonychus' back, claws digging at his body.

"You talk too much, raptor," the troodon said simply. "Whatever trickery you are capable of, I am one step ah--!"

A terrible pained cry from deep within the complex cut it off before it could finish its taunting. It pulled itself away from the entrance, turning its large eyes towards the darkness. They were wide in disbelief. The other raptor? It was supposed to be outside, in the trees! How did it get inside without the guards seeing? Where did it get in from!?

Making use of the distraction, the Deinonychus made his move, jaws clamping shut on the hind limb of one of the Staurikosaurs as he thrashed in a roll, twisting his way free and badly wounding it, clawed arms and legs kicking and slashing as he scrambled out of the pin. In the flurry of movement, his talons had inflicted wounds on just about everything surrounding him as he got to his feet, bloodied claws splayed and fangs bared as he put the small, armoured creatures in front of him, noting most of them hadn't been significantly injured thanks to their armour, though the first one to be attacked had been crippled, its leg mangled. "Rule one: Never use Staurikosaurs to hold down a Deinonychus" he growled...

"They will kill you yet," the troodon vowed as the sounds of violence became increasingly louder elsewhere. Angered dinosaurs growled and roared, the occasional crash and thud echoing from somewhere above the main floor of the building. Baring its teeth, the troodon turned and scampered off into the darkness, a few of its raptor comrades peeling away from the vine to join it. The others however, clawed away at the vegetation, eyes bright with murderous intent for the deinonychus.

The staurikosaurs sans their crippled fellow stood up and started to run in semicircular patterns along Hellfire's flank, arching around and then spinning their heels to head back in the opposite direction. They did this at random, a few heading forwards while others headed backwards, rows of the small fighters moving in an almost hypnotic fashion. If one stared too long, they could swear that they were all one creature just moving so quickly, it looked like many.

Hellfire hissed as he timed his move, lunging at a Staurikosaurus as it passed within reach, twisting his head on the spot as he swung, breaking its neck and throwing it at another, his tail whipping into a third's legs and tripping it, creating yet another obstacle to distract its comrades. He was on it before it realised it had hit the ground, a vicious kick gutting it...

Yelps and pained exclamations were met by grating roars and rasps as the remaining staurikosaurs leaped onto Hellfire's body again. One on either side of him jumped onto his flanks while another went for his neck, lunging for it and securing a grip with its hands. It swung its weight underneath the deinonychus' head, jerking it to the side with the movement to disorient him further and to leave an opening for the last two of the small mutants still able to fight.

The Deinonychus snarled as he spun himself with the attacker, tumbling into a roll, using the momentum of the one on his neck to add to the spin and throw one of his attackers off, landing on his side and all but crushing the other, clawed hands slashing at the third's stomach and back, talons hooking and cleaving through the Staurikosaur's vulnerable underside, exposing vital organs as he got to his feet and dragged it off of him, a number of cuts streaking his flanks as he stomped on the one he had flattened, turning on the final one, sparing just enough of his focus to take note of the Raptors trying to get through the vined entrance...

The dislodged staurikosaurus rolled across the ground several times before stopping upright on its feet, body low as it hissed at the deinonychus. The two others came in from the side, both of them throwing themselves onto Hellfire's leg, their combined force knocking him off balance while the third broke off into a sprint towards him.

Twincrest watched as the predator left, then turned as well and departed. There was a faint scent coming off from the North, one that smelt of Lystrosaurus, her preferred prey item. She'd go hunt some, settle her starving stomach as she hoped to try and settle here. But there was something about that spinosaurid's demeanor, something that seemed... off. She shook her head. It wasn't for her to ponder. She had more important things to deal with.

ironfang snarled as he smashed his head against the side of a tree, not hard enough to actually hurt himself, but still out of frustration. This was insulting, completely infuriating! What could he do, to get Thrasher and his kind back in their rightful spot? There had to be a way, some way he could help the true lord of the island...

And then he stopped. Of course... That seemed relatively simple. Slowly, an idea was forming in the Baryonyx's head. The Tyrannosaur was far too large for him to deal with by himself. Fighting it one on one would be suicidal...And it was a skilled fighter at that, he couldn't deny. But what of its family? Surely, there were those with him that he could go after, those close to the Tyrannosaur's heart he could tear away and slaughter. Why go after the big hulking warrior, when he could hurt him where it hurt the most.

Of course, he'd need help in such an endeavor. The other spinosaurs could be of great use, but at the same time, they had their own weaknesses despite their great size. The sails for one, and the weak jaws as well. He'd need help to deal with the Tyrannosaur himself when the time came... and he thought he knew just the predators to ask...

Hellfire hit the ground and rolled onto his back as the third one charged him, snarling as he kicked upwards at them, killer claws tearing into its ribcage in one swift kick before pulling back, the Deinonychus rolling to his feet as he grabbed one of the others, tossing it at the wall as he lunged for the other, snapping its neck...
