"On second thought aim all Ballistas at the gatehouse, bring down the door and let our Ulfsarks get to work," ordered Lokar. The Ballistas ajusted themselves and all fired toward the gatehouse, the large sharpened logs flew through the air and crashed through what was left of the gate. Splinters flew and some larger pieces found themselves in the chest of a few poor sods! As the gate groaned it finally collaped forward, leaving the archers and trebuchets vunerable to attack by the huge wave of Beserkers pouring in wielding giant two handed axes and charging with no fear of death. "Good now have the raiding cavalry ready to charge in and mop up the rest of their forces," comanded Lokar with a smile on his face. Almost immediatly a horn blowed which signaled for the raiding cavalry to mount and prepare to charge.

"I am Aviva," Aviva growled with a dip of her head. Arsenic, turning to look Septimus in the eyes, replied mentally, 'And I am Arsenic.'

The armored figure moved through the underbrush with a low rustling everytime he passed a shrub or bush in his way, following his ears as he tried to find the source of a soft Earthen song. His wandering through the vegetation brought him to a place where the plants thinned out, and the song grew louder. A trickling stream, shallow and running clear, laid before Desrium. His crimson eyes flared up, glowing brighter for a few seconds at the prospect of quenching his thirst. His throat was so dry, if he talked, his voice would be even lower and more hoarse than usual. Who knows how a human would have reacted to that. The notion amused him and he chuckled, though the sound was a gruff and would be mistaken for wheezing. Desrium moved over to the stream's edge, dropping onto all four's and dipping his mouth into the water, his jaws hanging open lazilly. He let the water flow in freely, swallowing when his mouth was full- suprisingly, there was a lot of water per mouthful- and it wasnt long before his thirst was sated. He pulled away from the stream, now kneeling with water dripping from his helmet's fangs and his finger tips on the ground. He felt a strange puffiness in his neck...why would that be? It lingered for a moment, afterwardsthe feeling subsided, leaving Derium confused. There was no sudden reveal in his head as to what had just happened, which left him with a sense of yearning. He wanted to know what happened, why it happened. What was this thing about him? What was with this metal shell that kept him contained and isolated from the world?
His head jerked, in an instant his gaze was locked onto something across the stream. It was a strange animal. Something the size of a deer, with a black pelt. Its body was like a slender horse's and its four feet were scaley talons, not unlike an eagle's. There was a silver lining of fur on the leg above them. Its head seemed avian in appearance; a long snout with a yellow beak, blank golden and green eyes lacking pupils. There were long silver feathers where the head met the neck, two on each side pointing back in a gentle curve. Its tail was whip like, with long strands of black that ended in vibrant cyan and green feathers. The strange creature had pushed past the line of shrubs to the stream much like Desrium had, dipping its beak into the water and taking in the cool liquid to quench its thirst. Its beak lingered in the stream for a while before it finally lifted its head. Just as quickly as it came, it was gone again. Desrium watched the creature leave in a trot, momentarilly forgetting the odd feeling he felt. His mind was wrapped around the thought of something seeing him…and not fleeing. It was a good feeling. It made him have a sense of…belonging

There was a voice. A pleasant voice. A feminine voice, but he couldn’t make out the words. He only knew he felt…happy when he heard it. Content. At ease. Like he belonged. Like-
The flashes of light. Searing pain. Excruciating. Then…the cold. A dreadful cold that was applied to his body all at once, and it was uniform all around. He was numb in seconds. He remembered. He was looking out to the robed others surrounding him, figures cloaked in shadows despite the brightness that engulfed him. He was standing in some glowing ensignia carved into a rock floor. He wanted to scream to the heavens but no sound escaped him. He glanced down to his hands, turning them over to look at his palm. A glare shone off of them as another light flashed, blinding him temporarilly. Then there was the thud around his head. Darkness. Then, a light. A red light that filled the darkness, before that too disappeared and he felt himself immersed in water. The depths of the ocean, where the bright, tranquil surface hung tauntingly out of reach and the dark deep below harbored unspeakable horrors. It was from here a gray and white shape shot up at him, its mouth agape and its triangular teeth on full display. His body would have ran cold if it wasn’t chilled beyond belief already

Then his mind was blank. Again, Desrium felt a sense of longing. The sense of comfort he got from the voice…he wanted that…he wanted it almost as badly as he wanted to know what, exactly, did he just remember…

"A pleasure" rumbled the Dragon. eying the elf, he wondered why he hadn't spoken. but then he noticed the scar along his throat. "You're lucky that scar only cost you your voice. From what i know of humanoid anatomy, It's very rare for anyone to survive a wound like that" he added mentally to the elf...

Arsenic inclined his head in agreement. 'Yes. By dumb luck on my part or just really bad aim on his, the one who gave me the scar didn't cut deep enough to hit the trachea, and missed the major blood vessels.' His lips twisted wryly. 'Even then, it was a mess and my brethren had to sew my throat closed. I am, indeed, a lucky man.'

"Then fate was on your side" responded the Dragon. glancing at Aviva, he rumbled "If i might ask...How do you know of my kind? We generally keep to ourselves, and look very different from eachother"...

The assassin watches from high up on the palace's roof, waiting for the king to emerge. He hoped in secret that the old fool would decide was the day to take his walk......... not that it mattered anyways. He would wait as long as he needed to..... time was not something he worried about much.

Draco walks over to one of his army captains, who happened to be talking to a royal guard at that moment. The captain turns and says. "What is it, sir?" Draco says. "I need to have a word with you in the barracks." "If you insist, sire." The guard returns to his post, while the captain follows Draco towards the barracks.....

By now, the two unicorns did not know how far they traveled, and were getting thirsty. Revion glanced at Serenity. "We need to find some kind of water source," he stated. "I am so thirsty!"

Serenity nodded in agreement, but did not say anything. Her ears flicked back and forth, trying to find a trickling sound, or even a river flowing. She was without success and sighed. "We're going to have to press on to find it...at least we have the grass, I guess." She lowered her head to nibble on a few strands for about a minute or two, before raising her head again and continuing on at a steady walk.

"I guess, but water would be better." He observed the forest, and took note at the continuous sound of birds and the rustling of trees as the wind blew. He picked up his pace to a trot when he noticed that the white filly was a fair distance ahead of him. "You know, you should not be so far ahead," he nickered with concern.

Serenity rolled her eyes. "Oh, and this coming from the more playful one," she teased. "Let's just focus on finding a water source for now. There must be some stream, or even a river in this place...or at least I hope there is."

"The Matris of the Extraxl - that is, our leader - had been friends with a Huelin at one time, though they lost touch some time ago. Recently, through her connections to the world, she found a sentence of exile had been given to one of their own...given a description and told he was dangerous. The Sator, her mate, touched every Extraxl's mind and warned us to be careful. The Matris taught us what a Huelin's auma felt like, through her memories. If we sensed it, we were to be extremely cautious." Aviva found a flattish stone and gave it a flick with one clawed finger, sending it skimming over the surface of the river. She watched it until it was lost to the water. "But...even assuming you are the exiled one, I sense no malevolence about you."

Desrium shook his head and got back to his feet, only to step over to his right a few times a brace his back against a tree. New bits of information surfaced in his turmultuous mind. He remembered something. Memories. He had memories, which meant that he did have a life before. A life that he couldnt remember. A life where he had someone that made him feel happy. Knowledge of the word came as natrually as the other things had. Even still, it was a life...where he felt uncomprehensible pain. "Those people...the ocean...that voice...what could it all mean?" Desrium thought as he tried to make sense of it all. "Could such a thing actually happen to me?" It was so vivid. Infact, it was more vivid than his memories of the days before. More vivid than his memory of being thrown onto land by the angry sea. More vivid than his meeting with the dragon exile, and even more vivid than the meal they had together. Desrium let out a low rasping breath as he remembered the roasted fish and he suddenly felt a pain in his stomach. Hunger...he'd need to find food. He could only hope that his learning would still come as swift as it did. As to what caused the influx of knowledge, he didnt know, and he was just about ready to just accept it like how he accepted that he had no past. That all changed in one short moment, and he was left with far more questions than answers...

"Oh wow" rumbled Septimus, irritated at this turn of events. "Father really pulled some strings if he even had other Dragonflights informed that he disowned me.....'spose i should count it a compliment he still thinks so much about me. means he thinks i can actually pull off my vow" he added with a chuckle...

Aviva cocked her head curiously, solid green eyes glinting, as Arsenic said, 'Or perhaps he is simply being thorough.'

Septimus chuckled. "Could be. Father was known for nit picking about every little detail. sounds like him to make sure every door ahead of me was slammed in my face" rumbled the Dragon. "But forgive me. You don't know the story. i couldn't expect you to know what i'm talking about. I'll save you the troubles of a traveller" he rumbled...

Once the gate collapsed, the Archers fired their arrows at the enemy, striking many of them in th echest, causing those on horses to fall off. The Trebuchets launched, sending their deadly ammo right into the horde. With each large flamming rock impacting, numerous enemy soldiers and horses were sent flyingin each direction. The normal foot soldiers charged forward, ignoring the flying arrows above their heads as they mentally readied themselves to defend their town... Even if they lost the town, once news of this loss reached Tristan, then Emperor Trajan would most likey retaliate with monstrous ferocity to regain the town...

As Desrium moved through the forest, his eyes lit up every other second as new information emerged in his head. Information that came up to address his current situation. Food was everywhere, you just had to know where to look. Berries on bushes are a good source of nutrition...if they arent poisonous. Other creatures are also potential prey. Their flesh could be eaten raw, however, after his encounter with the dragon schollar, he'd preffer his meat cooked. Thats when knowledge of fire came to him. He could make it with relative ease... if he found the right type of rock he could strike his blade's edge and start a flame from the sparks in a pile of tinder. From there came the knowledge of what said rock was, and what made good fuel for flames. When Desrium wanted a word to describe this accellerated learning, the word "Adaptive" came to mind. It was if he was thrust into a new world without any idea of how things worked...but given the tools to thrive and excel in it. Why would that be? Desrium shook his head. Another question with no possible way of being answered. He was getting sick of the delima, yet he longed for understanding, which only frustrated him more. "Focus" He said quietly to himself, which was barely audible since he natrually spoke in a low voice. He shifted his focus back to getting food. New tidbits appeared. Signs of prey, which plants to avoid, hunting tactics. Before long Desrium found himself half crouched and easing his way through the underbrush silently. His eyesight was sharp and seemed to dull down as he focused on the hunt, with only small flare ups as new information passed into him. His mouth hung open and with every breath he took, he was picking up on the smells in the air. It was all automatic- this primal shift - and soon enough Desrium was peering through the shrubs at a herd of the strange creatures he saw before. They grew to be much larger than a deer, the largest one being close to the size of a moose. By now, Desrium already had an idea as to what his target would be, a young one who had strayed too far from the others. If he couldnt find a juvinile, then he'd take down an adult...

Arsenic let out a thoughtful mental hum as he dipped his dagger in the river and began to clean it. 'I admit, I'm curious. But it's your story to tell, and if you don't want to, we won't pry.' Aviva turned over the half-eaten fish and growled, directing her words at Septimus, "As he says. Are you hungry?"

"My gratitude for the offer, but don't let my hunger bother you. I'll catch my own food later" responded Septimus with a smile. "My story is...somewhat hectic. I'll put it in as simple a way as i can" he began with a sigh. "You see, Hueilin heirarchy is dependent on your....aptitude in certain things. Magic....physical strength. Unlike most other creatures, Hueilins' bodies change to adapt to what you're best at. The more physically adept ones become very stocky and muscular as they reach their physical maturity. the Growth Years. Magically adept ones become lithe, serpentine, but gain massive internal stockpiling abilities. basically, their bodies adapt to allow them to use more potent magic, more efficiently, and for longer than would otherwise be possible" explained the Dragon as he projected images of other Hueilin into the two's minds, showing examples of large, stocky dragons with powerful looking bodies, and of slender, elegant looking dragons engulfed in various kinds of elemental magic, or bathed in the glow of mana...

The Extraxl female twitched in faint surprise. Arsenic nodded slowly, his now-golden eyes narrowing slightly. 'Interesting. The difference almost seems unfair; but I imagine, even without the muscle, the magic users are far from defenseless.'

"The win:loss ratio between an adept magic wielder....Elendir as we call them, and an adept fighter; Brudil... is roughly 2:1, depending on the individual. in my father's case it was 5:1. So of course, he wasn't very pleased when i came along. Son of the greatest Elendir and Brudil in our recent history, and i end up more or less average" growled Septimus with a sigh. "With each passing day, i could almost literally SEE his patience for me wearing thinner. as if he had me on some timer. And eventually he had had enough. he Decided that i was too normal. that someone of his family line couldn't possibly be so weak magically. and he banished me, accusing me of not being his son" he explained as he turned to the water, his eyes beginning to shimmer with energy. "But I made sure he knew i would not simply bend to his will. Even amidst the fighting amongst the elders over his decision, my mother's family wanting to gut him for his actions, his own family torn in half between those who defended me and my mother, and those who were backing him up...I swore to him, and to everyone there. i vowed that one day, i would return, greater than he was, and greater than any before me. And he swore that should i return, he would destroy me. It took every ounce of patience i had not to attack right there. The only thing stopping me was the fact that i knew i couldn't defeat him then" hissed Septimus as he looked down at the river...

"How very interesting!" Tetto'eko chirped as he emerged from the forest behind Septimus, having overheard the Dragon's story. He walked forward, leaning lightly on his staff. "You are a most peculiar one, aren't you?" he hissed with a chuckle.
