As the Armature finally toppled, the Geth fired at the retreating Scorpio, to little avail. However, they didn't leave their post, as the jamming tower was clearly a more important location to hold. Arrak exhaled, relieved, and said, "The main base for the comm station should be close by. They'll know we're here now, though, if they aren't still dealing with the Alliance marines."

A small ship landed onto the glowing grass of F46 P27's surface. Three humans, two male and one female, walked out of the spacecraft, wearing battle armor, in case anything was there to attack them.

"Jesus, it smells like a garbage can here..." one man said.

"Carter, cut the crap and examine the area, will you?" the female replied, bumping him with her arm.

An antelope-like creature ran across the field before them, making a noise similar to that of a cricket. The animal had a long and feline tail, a row of orange horns which were comparable to a stegosaurus's plates, and moist, lime-colored skin. There was a herd of the creature following it, but they looked like they were panicking rather than traveling...

"I wouldn't bet on the Alliance surviving a surprise attack from these things" said Khuurava as he headed towards the main base, eager to actually make some progress in this Spectre-hunt...

"Well, let's find out then..." Arrak murmured, peering through his binoculars. The actual communication base could be seen in the distance. The structure was made mostly of raised catwalks interwoven into a complex latticework of stairs and walkways. At the center of it all was a large structure, apparently made of a long hallway with a circular protuberance in the center: likely the control center for the entire facility. Arrak could see the distant flashes and detect the telltale signatures of gunfire, which meant that there was likely already a fight underway. Looks like some of the Alliance marines held out after all...

Khuurava pressed on as they approached the city, the vehicle closing the distance rapidly, the weapons systems already selecting targets to fire upon once the vehicle was in range. As soon as the first target was within reach, a mechanical whir was heard, panels parting on the top of the vehicle as a long range precision weapon, resembling a Widow Anti Material Rifle, rose out of the roof of the armoured truck, a droning sound being heard before a high pitched boom rang out, the targeted Geth's upper torso being blown clean off as the weapon shifted to a second target, a second round being fired, then a third and fourth, the weapon rapidly cutting down the Geth, providing assistance for the Alliance soldiers the Geth were attacking...

From what Arrak could tell, only three Alliance Marines remained, taking cover behind a stack of crates, where the cluster of Geth infantry were firing on them before Khuurava cut them down. Clearly surprised, the marines looked over in the direction of their new savior, and Arrak chuckled. "Betcha they didn't see that coming..." No other Geth appeared to be in the immediate area--holed up in the central structure, most likely--so Arrak shrugged. "Might as well talk to 'em. They might know something about this whole mess."

The weapon folded back into the vehicle's roof, the panels closing over it once more as the vehicle rumbled to a halt beside the cover the marines were hiding behind, a hydraulic hiss coming from the vehicle as a hatch opened to the side of the vehicle; its substitute for a door. Leaping out, Khuurava walked over to the marines. "Any other marines still alive, or are you all that's left?" he said gruffly as he reached over his shoulder, drawing his assault rifle...

Arrak followed Khuurava, unholstering his own rifle. The three marines stood to face the two mercs. Two men and one woman made up the group, with the woman apparently in charge. She moved up to the two, and paused. "Wait... who the hell are you? Never mind, I don't care, considering you just pulled our a**es out of the fire." She looked back at the two marines behind her. "...we're all that's left. There were too many of those... THINGS for a small detachment. We're equipped to deal with pirates and slavers, not synthetic armies!" Arrak glanced at them curiously. "Army? Just how many Geth are here?" The woman shrugged. "I don't know. All I know is that some ship landed on the outskirts, near the dig site, and the next thing I knew, Geth started streaming over the outpost." She sighed. "That ship... it was the biggest thing I'd ever seen. Made some sort of noise... sounded like it was boring into my d*mn skull..."

Khuurava eyed Arrak for a moment, chuckling. "Seems Saren has more than a little Geth shuttle. Doesn't change our mission though" he said. "That ship still there?" he asked more seriously, turning his gaze back to the woman in front of him...

"I think so," the Marine said. "We've got bigger problems, though. There's a Krogan with the Geth up there. They've killed everyone else, and shut down the base's shield in the process. We need to take this base back and reactivate the shield before that electrical storm fries every circuit in the comm dishes. This hub is just too important to the Alliance to abandon."

"Krogan?..." said Khuurava. "Seems the Blood Pack are in this more than we thought. Did you see a Turian with them?" he inquired...

"Maybe. Hell, I don't know," the marine replied. "We haven't really been spending our time spying on the enemy. We've been too busy fighting for our lives. If there's a Turian here other than your friend, he's not here. Maybe at the dig site."

"And where is that, exactly?" asked Khuurava with a raised, scaly brow...

The woman nodded over her shoulder. "Up north. There's a road up that way. You can take your vehicle, if you can take care of the Geth here first."

The glowing carnivores climbed into the shuttle when the explorers were not focusing. They were the Spawn; luminescent and ravenous aliens similar to the Xenomorphs of LV426, yet these creatures were controlled by constant hunger rather than instinct. They made not a single noise climbing into this new metal object, one even closing the door behind it...

"Aaaaand...what's stopping us from going straight there?" asked Khuurava as he eyed the human, immediately taking her response as a threat...

The marine raised her hands defensively. "Hey, don't look at me like that! You two are armed to the teeth and this hub is in danger of complete destruction, so we need your help here first!"

"You better hope that ship doesn't leave when we retake the hub" hissed Khuurava as he headed towards the hub, eyes scanning for an entrance...and possible threats. Meanwhile, the hatch on the truck closed, sealing it off as the vehicle locked down, to prevent anything getting onboard in his absence...

The Marine merely nodded, then pointed towards the central structure. "There's an entrance from the left and right, both fortified by Geth infantry. There's a rear entrance, but we would have to go all the way around, and that would be a waste of time, especially if there's more guards. The entrance on the right leads to a longer corridor, but last time we checked it was more cluttered with cargo, which would make good cover. I think that would be your best bet. We can lure the majority of the forces to the left entrance and keep them distracted while you reactivate the shield and hit the Geth from the rear."

One of the humans pulled out a rifle, while the other two pulled out SMGs.

"What the frick was that?!" the second male shouted as he took note that the shuttle was closed, and also locked. He noticed the grass was moving; and that one of the antelope-like creatures had been trying to catch up. Suddenly, it was pulled into the grass as it flailed wildly. Its calls were cut off by a loud hiss.

"Dammit Charles, calm the hell down!" The female ordered.

"Shut up Maria! We're frigging screwed and ALL YOU CAN SAY IS CALM DOWN! What the frick is wrong with you!?"

Suddenly there was a hiss...
