"Just DO IT!" Barnes shouted, not bothering to waste ammunition on the charging beast. His bullets barely registered at close range. What good would it do here? As he ran, he grabbed Hiero by the shoulder and pulled him along, shouting, "I'm not letting you get your dumb a** eaten just to kill that thing! Move it, double time!" He stayed at the edge of the boat, making sure everyone else had jumped first. Jack was quick to move, dragging Stan with him. Had Barnes been particularly concerned about that at the time, he would have noticed that the now virtually-mute man was at least a little less catatonic. His behavior had been improving ever since the incident in the canyon. Dodgson approached the edge, hesitating as he looked down at the swampy waters below. Despite the fact that the Spinosaurus was still forcing its way through the trees, Barnes felt an urgent need to hurry. Giving the suited man a good shove, he snarled, "Out, Mr. Dodgson. NOW." Clearly, Dodgson's fear of the burly man was far greater than getting his clothes wet, so he obliged swiftly, followed by a much more animated Jenkins...

"Ah, ****!" Max leaps off of the boat into the water, making a sizable splash. He struggles to get to his feet, or even stay afloat, but he tries his best to follow Persephone...

Rick jumped over the side of the boat and in the water up to his chest. Holding his gun over his head to keep the water from entering and causing problems, he moved as fast as he could, following the rest of the team for the thick cluster of trees that were now their only chance of escaping the Spinosaur. The sound of Barnes shouting at a couple people reached his ears, but he didn't pay attention to what was being said, focusing purley on running...

"**** it," was all Hiero could say in Viet before tossing the charge onto the deck of the vessal and hoping that when the creature rammed it that he could time it and cause a chain reaction of setting off the vessal to kill it. If they were lucky this plan would work and the damn thing wouldn't be pursuing them in the middle of a very deadly and hard to traverse swamp.

As soon as the last merc jumped into the waters below, Barnes leaped over himself, spinning in mid-air and firing his rifle's grenade launcher into the air. As the soldier hit the water, the projectile arced up and over the boat, crashing into the deck of the ship.

The shot was well-aimed as the resulting explosion caught the satchel charge as well, multiplying the blast radius significantly. The humans were protected from the blast by sheer virtue of its height (several meters over their heads), bu the concussive force of the blast was enough to startle the infuriated Spinosaurus into skidding to a stop. It howled in pain and rage, the very edges of the explosion tickling at its armored scales. However, the dinosaur quickly recovered and charged forward once more, smashing bodily into the wrecked boat (which now had a gaping hole in its upper deck), which flew sideways as the Spino attempted to push it out of its way. Barnes refused to look over his shoulder, heading for the relative safety of one of the tree's roots, which created a small cave of sorts...

Pesephone continued to run through the shallow water, crossbow still in her hands. She rushed as fast as she could into the thickness of the mangroves, heading into a cave created by the root system of one mangrove tree, not unlike that which Barnes had gone into. The roots were closely spaced, which meant she had to squeeze her way in, but it would make the Spinosaurus getting to her very hard to do...

as the Humdinga roared down river, the explosion reached their ears, the roar of the predator in the distance easily heard in the aftermath. "I wonder what that one's called.....Leroy perhaps?" commented Jacob as they closed in on the source, having already covered 3/4s of the distance between the facility and the other group, the river gradually beginning to give way to swampland...

"If that explosion was as bad as I thought it was, it might as well be called Bloodbath" David replied, steering the speeding vehicle through the thickening mangroves. A trail of smoke was rising through the treetops down the way. "Lets hope they were competent enough to at least...I don't know...INJURE the damn thing"

Realizing the backpack was slowing him down, Maxwell discarded it and took only a few extra clips of ammo with him. He moved quickly the Mangroves after the others, making a lot of splashes, but nonetheless found a similar structure in the Mangrove roots. He had a little trouble squeezing his shape in, and, once inside, he was extremely uncomfortable, but it was better than death....

Rick scrambled into the cave formed by the roots of the closest tree, a little effort required to squeeze through, but still managing to get in. His Carbine still in hand, he continued to work his way through the roots, ducking his head as he crawked through the gap under a root further in the structure...

Riley charged after the others, not daring to turn around. Before he made it to safety, however, he tripped over a root hidden under the water, and scrambled to get back on his feet as the spino drew closer...

Hiero moved quickly through the swamp, heading towards a tight cluster of trees in the general direction of where they were traveling to. He jumped through the narrow opening and kept going until he made it to another grove with a space under the roots to hide in. Then he sat quitetly in the water and lisened for signs of the creature moving off.

The Spinosaurus had managed to push past the now-wrecked ship as Riley got back to his feet, the theropod screeching in fury as its potential prey scattered into the rot systems. Nevertheless, the Spino stomped onward, snorting and hissing as it looked for vulnerable prey with its one good eye. Soon spotting Riley, the carnivore growled lowly and made a beeline straight for him...

The Humdinga powered through the water and came into earshot of the Spinosaur, its roaring engine more than enough to catch its attention. David made sure to keep the vehicle a safe distance from the roots that ensnared either side of the river, ensuring that he could pull off a tight turn should the dinosaur's attention be pulled away from the others and it started pursuing the two lone mercenaries...

No way Max was letting that thing eat his friend. Bursting forth from his tree root cover, Maxwell fires a shot at the creature, hoping to noise catches its attention.

"Hey, over here, ya big lug! OVER HERE!"

He fires at it again, hoping it takes the bait....

The Spinosaurus paused at the sound of the Humdinga, but its attention was swiftly grabbed by the gunfire peppering its thick scales. With a roar, it spun to face Max's location and headed for him, powerfully muscled forearms splayed aggressively...

"OI! Move outta the bloody way you ******* jarhead, before you get torn apart!" barked Jacob at Maxwell over the roar of the Humdinga's engine, just as he opened fire on the Spinosaurus, a string of powerful 7.62 NATO rounds exploding from the barrel of the M240 Machine gun, no less than a dozen bullets tearing through the dinosaur's spine and across towards it's head as the Humdinga closed in...

"Oh, ****!" Max bellowed as the thing barreled towards him and the shot rung through the air. Maxwell bolted back into cover inside his tree's roots, glad that the boat hit the damned thing and distracted it...

The Spinosaurus screeched in pain and spun away from the source of the gunfire, smashing its tail into the water and throwing up a massive swell to try and capsize, or at least knock away, the Humdinga...

Barnes eyed the Humdinga from his hiding spot in the tree roots, both relieved and annoyed at who it was. Why they had come to save their a**es was beyond him, but he certainly appreciated the assistance...
