"Hell ******* yes" David replied with a wide grin, shifting forward and grabbing the wheel. "Just give me the word and we'll be off!"

"Yeah, Doctor," Barnes said, straightening to give Jenkins a hard glare. "Just WHAT the hell was that all about?" Jenkins raised his hands defensively. "Okay, okay, so maybe I did a little... unauthorized breeding..." "WHAT?!" Dodgson growled, rounding on Jenkins angrily. "I gave you explicit orders to only breed ONE Spinosaurus until we knew exactly what we were dealing with!" "And that is exactly what I did!" Jenkins shot back. "These Spinosaurs are very isolationist and territorial! They do not move around very much, and, for such massive predators, barely effect the environment in any meaningful way! They rarely attack larger animals, unless they're intruders. Adding a breeding population would allow us to study their behaviors in case any complications came up!" Dodgson rubbed his temples with his fingers, taking a deep breath. "Okay, you know what? Forget it, at least for now. Lieutenant, we can interrogate Andrew when we get off this island. For now, we need to get to the military outpost and find a radio. At least Sue's keeping the Spinos distracted." Barnes nodded. "That's the smartest d*mn thing I've heard all day. Let's get moving people!"

The Spinosaurs stopped sniffing and turned away from the direction of the Humdinga, as if smelling or hearing something the two mercs couldn't. After a moment of deliberative hisses, the two predators stalked off, deeper into the swamp, leaving the battered Rex behind...

Rick shot a quick, distrustful glare at Jenkins, but didn't say anything upon Dodgson saying that the scientists could be further questioned later. He didn't trust Jenkins completely anymore, but he wasn't going to cause another argument by asking a question when this wasn't the best time. the Merc rose to his feet with a grunt, eager to get out of this swamp and reach the military outpost before they ran into any other predators...

Persephone got up as well, an almost unoticable smirk briefly appearing on her face, too fast for anyone else to see unless they ere paying attention. A breeding population of gigantic piscivores, eh? She could live with that... though, now her distrust of Jenkins had something to be rooted to other than his insanity Atleast now she had a plausible reason for why the Spinosaur female attacked the boat, and them afterward: There was probably a nest nearby, and if that was the case... she didn't want to run into it... unless...

Maxwell was quite disappointed in Jenkins when he heard what they had done. Becuase of him, they had nearly been eaten by two Spinosaurs. But then again, those two DID fight Sue and indirectly saved them, so perhaps he's found himself a new favorite dinosaur....

The mercenary followed the others. Hopefully, that outpost was nearby. If not, it would be most definitely a dangerous journey through this swamp...

"......Think they overheard us?" commented Jacob jokingly, though he was on full alert. It was never that simple. if anythuing, after beating another opponent, they'd probably more likely eat it than leave it. or at least dismember it as a warning. to just turn away and stalk off like that.....there was something else here...something they feared...

"Shows that these things aren't as dumb as I thought" David sneered as he gunned the engine. The Humdinga let out an industrial roar as David revved it up and it powered through the shallows. The water was spewed up from behind by its jets as it shot back onto the river...

Jacob left the turret, bracing himself as the Humdinga accelerated, still on the lookout for whatever scared off, or lured away the Spinosaurs, a hand on the grip of his combat knife as his assault rifle hung tightly to his back by the strap...

The Humdinga cleared the distance between the mangrove roots and the fallen Tyrannosaur quickly, the beast clearly beaten and bruised. The fact it was still semiconscious was an achievement in itself. The amphibious vehicle swerved about as it neared the predator's head, a spray of water washing over its snout and rinsing blood away into the water. "Make it quick, Jacob!" David said as the Humdinga came to a bobbing stop...

Jacob leaped as the Humdinga swerved, drawing his combat knife as he hit the ground by the beast's neck, leaping onto it's neck and slamming the blade down in Sue's damaged eye socket as he pulled a grenade from his belt, unpinning it and ramming it in the shredded hole, letting go once it was lodged in the flesh before leaping off, running for the Humdinga as he sheathed his blade, leaping into the back of the vehicle as he yelled "GO!"...

Jacob never got the chance to carry out his plan. A sudden smack to the right side of his face and neck interrupted him as he climbed atop the Rex's head, caused by a gooey, wet, black fluid that clung to the man's face, producing an uncomfortable burning, tingling sensation, like some sort of mild acid. The source: an adult female Dilophosaurus, smaller than Clarence, but with brighter red head crests that stood in the trees about 50 feet away. She made a rattling hiss, the leathery, brightly frill of skin around her neck closing as the predator wound through the trees, followed by several smaller shapes: young. Another wet projectile came from the opposite direction, hitting David in the shoulder as a larger male Dilo emerged from the shadows to the two humans' left, also sheltered by the trees. Apparently, they hadn't been the only ones waiting out the fight...

"Ugh, damn it!" snarled Jacob irritatedly as he wiped the liquid off his face with a sleeve, sheathing his blade as he balanced on the Rex's neck, shifting and firing at the Dilophosaur that attacked David, managing to catch it before it retreated, his own target having already fallen back between the trees. He already knew Dilophosaurs were poisonous. and there were several of them. As much as he wanted to see the Rex die, he had no intention of being poisoned to death in the process. grudgingly, the man leaping off the Rex's neck, firing two rounds in the Tyrannosaur's nostrils as he ran and dove into the Humdinga, climbing into the turret "Get us moving! Harder to hit us on the move"...

The male Dilo slipped away, the bullets hitting him in the tail and legs, causing him to stagger and hiss in pain. The Dilo pack began to circle around, intending to attack the Humdinga from every angle...

Whether it was in a pain response or a reaction to the fighting around her, Sue, finally began to stir, letting out a mighty snort of hot breath and deep-throated growl as she sluggishly sprang back to life...

The group was well away from the fighting in the swamps by now, the water finally receding into dry ground and the trees lessening significantly, allowing the noonday sun to warm them mercs up and simultaneously dry them off. Barnes, however, wasn't paying attention to the nice weather. His attention was focused on Dodgson and Jenkins up ahead, who were trading harsh-sounding whispers with each other in some sort of argument. He wasn't the one to eavesdrop, but then, he didn't fight dinosaurs all that often either...

David turned the Humdinga around, the spray from the propulsion system flying up Sue's nose as David lined up the vehicle with the swamp. He saw dark shapes shifting through the plant cover, trying to form some sort of blockade around where the river flowed into the marsh. The two mercenaries must have been out of their spitting range from the river banks. "If these are here, then I wonder what the **** the others are putting up with by now" David muttered as he floored the pedal, the Humdinga hurtling down the straight, skimming across the waves

Jacob meanwhile, had put on his sunshades as he cocked the machinegun turret, taking aim as he watched the predators move, gunning down one as it moved out of the cover of the trees as the Humdinga roared away from the scene. Sue hadn't been killed, but she was crippled. with her nostrils damaged by machinegun fire and being blinded in one eye, she had become a much less major threat...

The Humdinga collided hard with one of the stray crested creatures, the loud thump almost muffling the crunch of bones as the three toned vehicle smashed into its frame. Almost. The Dilophosaurus was bowled into the shallow water and the Humdinga shot by overhead, heading deeper into the swamp away from the pack, David's sights on Jenkins. He only slowed the vehicle down when the water was giving way to muddy land, where he lowered the Humdinga's wheels and began to trundle through the difficult terrain with surprising ease thanks to the Humdinga's design. "Hey, you see that?" David said to Jacob, spotting a strange shape among mangrove roots...

The rest of the Dilos did not pursue the Humdinga as it fled, simply hissing and screeching as the mercs retreated. However, they were quickly forced to flee as well when their potential meal began to stir. Injured and annoyed, Sue was sluggishly rolling over onto her belly in order to properly right herself, and it didn't take much beyond a deep, rumbling growl to make the would-be scavengers run off into the mangroves to find easier prey...

"I know, how about we let the good Lieutenant decide?" Jenkins said, causing Barnes to perk up. Before he could comment, Dodgson cut in. "There is nothing to 'decide!' Project Resurrection has failed! As per the agreement, every piece of project-related materiel must be terminated in case of a catastrophic failure to prevent exposure to the public. In layman's terms, this island is going to be bombed into a lifeless rock as soon as we get off it!" "But what about the animals?!" Jenkins retorted. "We can't just kill them!" "I can, and I will." "They have the rights of any animal!" "No, they don't," Dodgson replied, more calmly this time. "They are genetically-recreated extinct beasts that have been turned into biological weapons. These dinosaurs are he property of the Office of Biological Sciences, and we will do what we please with them. I would say to go and complain to PETA, but you signed a nondisclosure agreement in your contract." Dodgson stalked past the fuming Jenkins, and Barnes took his place by the doctor's side. "You know, Doc, he has a point. We can't risk letting these things get discovered by another country, let alone using them. The publicity would do enough damage to our government, but giving potential enemies these things? If they're as effective in battle as you and Dodgson have claimed, then we can't afford to let them live. It's for the sake of our country. You understand that much, right?" Jenkins snorted. "He doesn't care about the country, Lieutenant," he huffed. "Dodgson cares about protecting his own interests. He always was the weasely sort..." Barnes sighed, deciding not to press the issue further...

From where she was at, Persephone could hear the whole thing, and the moment Dodgson said this island was going to be bombed to Hell and back, her eye began to twitch. She didn't have much time, then, to carry out her plan. For once, she found herself siding with Jenkins opinion. Sure, the animals, if let loose upon the modern would, could be used for great destruction... but then there was the money that could be made off of them if she were to somehow get the scientific community to head here and declare this place a natural preserve or some other crap like that. And that kind of money was money that Persephone was interested in... but if she were to get what she desired... then Dodgson would have to be... Slowly, her eyes narrowed and seemed to darken as she began to think. She would get what she needed, and this island would stay intact, no matter the cost...

"Shut it, Jenkins," Max growled menacingly. He'd had enough of that damned scientist and his ramblings. "These dinosaurs aren't animals, they're ******* monsters! The fact they exist is abominable! I'm with Barnes and Jenkins: we should just nuke this whole damned place as soon as possible! It'll be for the better." The merc sighed. He'd been almost driven past the edge of sanity by these beasts.... hopefully, he wouldn't go loony from his stay here, and end up like his brother after he got tortured by the Mafia....

Persephone simply kept quiet, though had Max kept an eye on her he would have noticed a very quick glare cast at him before it vanished, a glare that betrayed Persephone's true goal and motives. "A better idea would be to unleash the hordes of poachers on this island." She replied, dropping the motherly voice she tended to have in favor of a more joking one. "THey'd accomplish the same thing, without turning the place into molten slag..." Here, she chuckled, before sending an almost unoticable wink toward Jenkins. The scientist may be crazy, but right now, both of them wanted to keep the animals on this island alive...
