"A pebble rolling across the ground to a place that would normally be lit up in Newleaf and Greenleaf" Snowstar mewed to Wraith.

"You notice how the pebble went along that dip in the ground and stopped at the deepest part?" growled Wraith...

"Of course" Snowstar growled "If you had hit it any harder, it would have shot out of the den...maybe hit a passing cat" He added, chuckling softly

Wraith chuckled. "Precisely" he growled. "Now. let's say the pebble represents our decisions, and the path in the ground the Code, and me, as the events that force the Clan, or pebble in this example, to make the decisions. Any enemy worthy of being called a threat, will use our beliefs, our Code, against us. Today, we were the pebble, and we followed the path perfectly. Who knows what the one that struck the pebble has in store for us next" growled Wraith as he looked towards Snowstar. the tom stood, walking towards the pebble, swinging a paw down on it, the pebble, mostly made of dried mud, was crushed to dust almost instantly. "It makes us predictable" he explained. "And there, lies the threat" he hissed finally as he turned back to his place, sitting...

"The code guides us in life. Its a list of morals and duties" Snowstar mewed. "We were not forced to help those rogues. Not in the least. The code only says we should help kits in danger, not kit like adults. And even then...these rogues are right in our midst. As far as they know, the clan follows the code to a T, and it does. But not all cats are the same. Im sure Coldeyes is already covering the matter..." He growled slyly. The tom knew his deputy well enough to know what his plans would be...

Hawk, blaze and cloud scrambled over flame and wrestled each other while their parents went to the fresh kill pile. " i will get you" hawk squeeked as she landed on blaze.

Swift stood up, giving his chest fur a last lick. The name issue was bugging him more the more he wondered about it. He'd have to go and talk to Shadowsoul about it if he wanted to put his mind at ease. He padded quickly towards the leaders' den, smelling both Snowstar and Shadowsoul inside. he announced his presence with a mew, his paws nervously kneading the earth in front of him.

Wraith chuckled. "Coldeyes isn't the only one in the clan equipped to handle things like that" he growled. hearing the mew, he glanced up at the entrance. "Come in" growled the tom, eyes at rest for now, the tom at peace in the shadows of his strategically chosen spot in the den, out of reach of the sunlight...

The scarred black tom padded into the den on silent paws, giving his eyes a few seconds to adjust to the dimmer lighting. He didn't see Shadowsoul right away, and it took him a minute to spot the dark leader's faint outline in the shadows. He was well hidden - Swift had only spotted him because he'd grown accustomed to searching for feline shapes in the dark. With the rogues growing steadily more aggressive with each passing season, it was a trick that had proved useful more than once. "I wondered if I could talk to you, Shadowsoul," he meowed, hating the way his voice shook slightly with nerves.

Wraith's ambers eyes opened, the Leader's gaze inspecting the tom in front of him for several moments, reading his expression, noting the shake in his tone. discomfort...worry.....or fear? "Of course, Swift" growled Wraith, eying the tom expectantly, though there was a certain kind of care in the Leader's gaze...

"About...earning a warrior name." Swift had to pause here, not sure how to phrase his question. Deciding it was better to be open in this matter, he mewed, "Do you think it'd be possible to...not give me one? Or," he went on even more nervously, "maybe, if I must have one...keep it at least partly the same?"

Wraith chuckled at the question, the tom reminding him of himself during the Life Giving ceremony. "I don't see why not. I don't remember the Code ever saying anything about names, so i suppose that how we go about names is mostly up to us. The naming system we've adopted is mostly to show that we are united as a group and that we are not simply a band of rogues...a Warrior's name is a sign of belonging to a group...as much a gesture of unity by the Clan to the Warrior as it is a symbol of loyalty to the Clan from the Warrior. Your name has plenty of possibilities as a Warrior name" explained the Leader...

Swift let out a relieved breath. "Thank you," he meowed, his nervousness fading and some of his worries leaving him at the leader's words. He wouldn't have to give up his name after all.

Wraith nodded with a small smile, nothing but his outline and a pair of amber eyes shimmering in the dim light hinting his presence. "Any time, Swift" he growled.

Swift dipped his head and backed out of the den, turning to head back to his spot.

Wraith smiled as he saw the tom leave. "Good cat, Swift" he growled when the tom was out of earshot. "Has the manners, has the instinct. knows how to take care of himself....he'll make a fine warrior for the Clan" he commented to Snowstar...

The leader raised an eyebrow at the new voice to enter the den. "Enter" growled Shadowsoul, the tom closing his amber eyes, the absence of light in his spot making him all but completely disappear, unseen unless searched for thoroughly...

"All that matters is that i am here. why should it matter where exactly 'here' is?" growled Wraith's voice from the shadows of the den...
