A sudden low, rumbling growl caused Lusa to pause in her game. She froze, turning slowly in the direction of the trees. A pair of eyes, one pale watery gray and sightless, the other a burning, fiery amber, gazed into her own. Slowly, the owner of the eyes prowled out of the shadows. Two massive black paws came first; then the feline head, which was as big as she was. And the teeth...they made her knees feel weak with fright. They were huge! She let out a quiet whimper, backing away, tail between her legs. "Night...?" she whispered in a broken, terrified voice. The black leopard stalked forward, a rasping snarl coming from it. It waited a few more seconds; then it pounced, letting out a yowl. Lusa let out a loud yelp and scrambled away from the predator with a scream of her protector's name, seeing Night leap to her paws, muzzle wrinkled in a snarl the pup couldn't hear over the pounding of her heart. Night started bounding over the rocks, trying to get to Lusa before the leopard did, but those teeth were so close and there was hot breath on her hind paws and the adult was too far, too far away to help...
Uzuri swung around to face Nguvu. "What was that?" she growled, scared herself and worried for the pup...it sounded like little Lusa was in trouble.

"Let's hurry and get to the wolves!" Amani growled, rushing over towards the location the yelps and roars were getting heard from. She quickly hurried over too the scene, to find a leopard chasing the pup...

Nguvu snarled, bolting forward through the undergrowth. he knew the sound anywhere. a leopard. charging through the undergrowth, a series of snaps coming from around the lion as he charged right through bushes and vines, leaping forward and ramming right into the Leopard's flank, the dark creature falling to it's side as Nguvu rose to his feet, turning around, a rumbling snarl coming from the lion, massive fangs bared at it as he moved himself between the leopard and Lusa, a deafening roar coming from the lion, his black claws extended, glinting devilishly in the dull green light of the jungle...

Uzuri burst out of the jungle right behind Nguvu, checking to make sure the pup was with its parent before turning to face the leopard. The smaller feline was trying to get up, half-stunned from the unexpected blow. It let out a defiant hiss, growling as it finally found its footing.
Night, meanwhile, had stopped dead at the sudden appearance of the lions, feeling for one moment a horrible certainty that Lusa was doomed. But seconds afterward a black blur crashed into her forelegs, and she instantly lowered her head to cover the pup's face in reassuring licks. She looked up again, feeling like she knew the male, but not quite being able to put her paw on why.

As Amani skidded to a stop, she roared at the half stunned leopard, then glanced over at the pup, now with it's mother. She looked back towards the leopard, and started to circle it, growling as it tried getting up.

Nguvu took a step towards the leopard, his rumbling snarl getting louder, suddenly swinging a massive paw at it, the blow connecting with it's face over the blind spot, knocking it's face to the side, Nguvu leaping onto the leopard immediately after, tackling it to the ground, viciously ripping at it's hide, claws and jaws ripping into it's flesh as the lion savaged the leopard mercilessly...

The leopard let out a pained roar, slamming a paw into the lion's face, trying to hit something soft; eyes, ears, or nose - it didn't matter, so long as it did some damage and got this freaking lion off of him!
Uzuri took up a position on a tall boulder, keeping watch in case other animals were drawn to the source of the fight.

when the paw struck Nguvu thrashed, his jaws clamping down on it, biting down as hard as he could, the crunching sound assuring him he broke some it's paw, the lion continuing to thrash, before letting go, moving off and circling the leopard again, his rumbling snarl powerful enough to be felt in the chests of those around him....

With a yowl of agony, the leopard curled in on himself, nursing his injured paw. "Alright alright, fine, you win! You can HAVE the damn pup!" he rasped, struggling to his paws and limping off as quickly as he could.

Amani followed behind the leopard, waiting for it to finally leave the area. She roared at it one last time as it almost dissapeared from view, causing it to bolt off. Instantly, she looked back towards the two wolves, and started to come near them.

Uzuri leaped down from her perch, watching uneasily was Amari started to approach the wolves. Instinctively she started after her sister, in case the adult proved aggressive.
Night watched the approaching lions warily, moving one paw to nudge Lusa closer, but was visibly more relaxed after the leopard had been chased off.

RotBeak flew around the savannah unable to follow the lions into the jungle but he would find them again.
BlackStripe slowly crouched, her legs tucking underneath her prepared for the pounce. Below her was a moose calf and its mother, the tigeress sitting on a large boulder.
She readied herself and when the calfs heads went down to graze again she leaped.

"N-n-no...he didn't," Lusa growled, trying to figure out why this lion seemed so familiar. Suddenly it clicked. "Nightbane!" she yipped happily, wriggling out from under Night. She bounced forward until she could reach up to put her forepaws on the lion's foreleg. "You're back! And you got rid of the beastie! And you're back! Why'd you leave for so long? It got real boring around here with no one to play with!" Night gave the lion a grateful nod. "Good thing you were here," she growled.

Nguvu chuckled at the pup's enthusiasm, putting one massive paw on Lusa's head, running it down her back, realising he left a bloody smear, cringing. he'd need to clean himself up soon. "Sorry Lusa. I had to go find some of my own kind to play with" he growled with a chuckle. "But i'm back now, at least for a little while" he added. "Glad i could help" he growled as he looked up at Night. "Night, Lusa, these are Amani, and Uzuri" he finally rumbled, using his tail to point out Amani and Uzuri in turn...

Lusa bounced over to Amani, ignoring her sticky fur, her nose quivering as she sniffed curiously. "Pretty names," she barked. "Much better than Lusa." She pulled a face. "A pleasure," Night growled, turning to look at the other two lions, dipping her head.
Uzuri in turn leaned forward to sniff the wolf pup. Ignoring the smell of blood, Lusa actually had a musky, wild, jackal-like scent. Not unpleasant.
