Barnes raised an eyebrow as he heard the laughter and shouts. "Whoever that was, he was heading towards the LZ. Let's keep moving." Lowering his shotgun, he continued, hoping there wouldn't be any more surprises waiting for them...

Jacob moved warily through the trees , thinking back to the scale of the Rex when it had passed him, the beast having torn through the trees right between himself and David, Jacob having ducked between three closely growing, heavily vined trees, making him almost invisible to the beast, Hiero's noisy and frantic retreat having distracted it well enough to prevent it from noticing him or David's scents, it's own scent by now undoubtedly overwhelming theirs, making odds of pursuit very low. As an extra precaution, he kept a distance from David, to avoid giving any would-be attackers an easier target to track. for now, their interests overlapped. how long that fact would stand remained to be seen...

"So now we know who fired that shot, the crazy ******" David said to Jacob as he stood up, his eyes still scanning the surrounding foliage. He gripped his assault rifle tightly, ready to use it at a moment's notice. Once he was he was sure they werent being stalked by anything, he looked to the other mercenary and added "I take it we're going to head back to the Osprey?"

Rick lowered his carbine when the noises in the nearby undergrowth had stopped and continued to follow his comrades, still keeping himself alert. The laughter was somewhat reassuring, but not that much. The merc's eyes darted from side to side as he moved, not willing to let himself think that they would be safe for too long, if they had the bad luck of being found by another predator...

Maxwell lowers his shotgun, letting out an almost bestial growl before following the others. "There better not be damned raptors or something here, because from what I remember from those dino books I read as a kid, those f*ckers are fast!"

"I worry about the competence of our teammates. We're going to head for the Osprey, as they will no doubt do, find out what they take, what they leave, and what they intend to do next. then we'll take it from there" responded Jacob as he walked calmly, though beneath the easy-going exterior, a myriad of razor sharp senses and lessons learned through experience worked tirelessly to maintain his awareness of everything around him, big or small. being in the SAS had taught him many things. vigilance was at the forefront...

Riley kept going, slowly down a bit and just tried ignoring everything around him except for the other mercs while they went back to the Osprey...

"Lets just hope the others dont end up leading another one of these things right to them" David replied as he fell into step with Jacob, completely serious. With all the yelling and hollering, all sorts of creatures were alerted to their pressence on the island. Until the means to leave arrived, the time spent on this island would be a battle for survival. Those who can handle themselves and make good decisions will stay alive. Those who cant will surely perish. David planned to ensure he was one of the former group.

"I hate to disappoint you, but yes, there ARE raptors on this island," Dodgson said. The group had finally arrived at the edge of the clearing where the Osprey had made its ill-fated landing, and Barnes silently ordered the rest of the mercs to stop with an outstretched fist. Cautiously, he peeked through the bushes. The clearing was empty, as far as he could see, except for the Osprey, turned on its side and partially crumpled. Jack, the pilot, shook his head in disappointment. "When we get out of here, somebody better pay for that..." he muttered. Barnes ignored Davison, moving into the clearing. After a quick look around, he waved everyone forward. "Looks like the coast is clear. Jack, check the wreckage. See if there's anything still working, preferably a radio." The pilot nodded and trotted to the Osprey, sighing with relief to see that the loading ramp was still open. At least he could still get inside the d*mn thing...

Barnes turned to Dodgson, giving him a stern look. Dodgson sighed and nodded. "Yes, yes, I know. You all deserve some answers. You might as well get comfortable; this is a rather long story..."

Meanwhile, in the thick undergrowth near Jacob and David, the chameleonic Carnotaurus that had been in the area since the storm watched them, still more curious than hungry. The theropod had temporarily retreated during Sue's rampage, but that wasn't going to stop it from stalking these strange creatures, especially now that two of them were all alone. However, the Carnotaurus kept its distance. It knew that even small prey could pack a punch, and its color-shifting scales were more effective at a distance...

Riley skid to a halt and breathed in deeply, trying to catch his breath. "Dodgson... better tell us everything!" he complained, talking silently and more to himself than anyone around him...

Rick patiently waited for Dodgson to begin telling them what he had to. He had some questions that he wanted answered, such as how many of the dinosaur species on the island were carnivores. The more the mercs knew, the better prepared they could be the next time they ran into a dinosaur that they hadn't seen yet...

Hiero suddenly broke out of the foliage into the clearing and immedietly made speed for the crash hoping to get to the cockpit and radio in an S&R to get off the island. He wasn't yet aware of the others as he was more focused on getting to the wreck.

Barnes quickly spotted Hiero burst from the trees and moved to stop him. "Whoa, Masaki! Where the hell have you been?!" he shouted, trying to get the merc's attention...

Jacob moved forward, moving to one side as he neared the clearing, sticking to the treeline, wary of what was going on around him, and around the Osprey. up ahead, he spotted a tree with low branches. it would serve as a good place to climb to a safer position and would act as an effective watch post from which to monitor the others. something felt off about his current situation. it was as if he was being watched...

David on the other hand stuck to the ground, crouching down behind anything that could serve as cover, lines of brush, fallen trees, large rocks and the likes. He surveyed his area with an intense gaze as he went along, finding something...off about one object in particular. It was some distance off and the strange thing about it was that it seemed to be perfectly natrual, blending into the enviroment until the small plants around it moved with the post-storm winds. When that happened, the thing stood out a bit. He narrowed his eyes and focused on the outline of it, trying to figure out what it could be. It wasnt a rock or tree, it matched the color of its background too closely, and only the surrounding movement tipped David off to its pressence. David made a grunt to catch Jacob's attention and pointed to the thing out in the forest, wondering what his team mate made of it.

Jacob eyed the direction he was gestured toward for a moment, looking for something. at first, he saw nothing. but with the movement of the wind he noticed something was off. some of what was there didn't move. but he had trouble identifying the sillhouette of the object. it was relatively large though. he glanced at David, nodding, before heading forward, upping his pace as he moved for the tree. it certainly wasn't a rock. whatever it was, he had the sickening feeling it was the source of his uneasiness...and he had no intention of finding out why...

David kept his attention on the strange object out in the forest after he saw Jacob's wary reaction to it, walking sideways to keep moving. He made sure that there would be no chance for anything to ambush them from behind, even if nothing was out there. Unwarranted alarm was always better than being caught in a situation unaware of the danger.

The Carnotaurus stayed frozen, its gaze never wavering. Hunting was not a priority, but the mammal didn't know that. The theropod did know, however, that it had been spotted. Blowing its cover would be a risky move. It was safer to stay still and watch for a little longer, to see how the mammal would react...

Hiero noticed Dodgson and the rest of the group and suddenly stopped. He stared hard at Dodgson long and hard before proseeding over to him with his galil in hand. As he got closer he flipped the safety, "WHAT... THE HELL... WAS THAT," Hiero shouted angrily. "I DIDDN'T SIGN ON TO BE CHASED AND NEARLY EATEN BY MONSTERS!"
