"I hate to disappoint you, but yes, there ARE raptors on this island," Dodgson said. The group had finally arrived at the edge of the clearing where the Osprey had made its ill-fated landing, and Barnes silently ordered the rest of the mercs to stop with an outstretched fist. Cautiously, he peeked through the bushes. The clearing was empty, as far as he could see, except for the Osprey, turned on its side and partially crumpled. Jack, the pilot, shook his head in disappointment. "When we get out of here, somebody better pay for that..." he muttered. Barnes ignored Davison, moving into the clearing. After a quick look around, he waved everyone forward. "Looks like the coast is clear. Jack, check the wreckage. See if there's anything still working, preferably a radio." The pilot nodded and trotted to the Osprey, sighing with relief to see that the loading ramp was still open. At least he could still get inside the d*mn thing...
Barnes turned to Dodgson, giving him a stern look. Dodgson sighed and nodded. "Yes, yes, I know. You all deserve some answers. You might as well get comfortable; this is a rather long story..."
Meanwhile, in the thick undergrowth near Jacob and David, the chameleonic Carnotaurus that had been in the area since the storm watched them, still more curious than hungry. The theropod had temporarily retreated during Sue's rampage, but that wasn't going to stop it from stalking these strange creatures, especially now that two of them were all alone. However, the Carnotaurus kept its distance. It knew that even small prey could pack a punch, and its color-shifting scales were more effective at a distance...
