Once the crocodile was gone, the zebras that were still parched cautiously moved toward the river. The ones who were not too sure of the river watched as the more thirsty ones went down and waited. Isoke glanced at Tamiri, who only lowered her head. That stallion that was taken by the crocodile was her father. Isoke lowered her own head and didn't speak, for she could sense by the way her friend was acting that she wanted to be alone. She walked away from Tamiri to her mother, who was laying on the ground, tired. The young zebra nudged her mother gently and gazed at her round belly. She wondered when the little foal would be due and smiled softly as she thought about what she was going to do with her new little brother or sister...

Graytalon suddenly flared his wings, reducing his speed just enough to duck into a tree, having seen two wolves, one bigger than any he had ever come across before. He stretched out his talons and hit the branch hard, just barely hanging on from the force of the impact. Panting, the tired goshawk swayed, struggling to hold onto his perch. His aching wings drooped at his side, the leading edge of the first feather resting on the tree's rough bark. He managed to turn around and peek through the leaves at the two creatures, hoping he was too high for the gigantic white wolf to reach. The hawk cringed, knowing the predator had seen him and that he would have no chance of escape in this condition if it came after him...

After many long hours of hunting, Streak had finally caught a small field mouse. It was her first kill in nearly a week and the starved hawk made short work of it, leaving only a tiny pile of bones and fur below her tree. The brown hawk tilted her head to the sky, wondering what had happened to her mate. "Please come back soon Graytalon... please."

Nightbane nodded. "Well, you stay here for a little while. i'll be back soon" growled the Lion before walking into the grass that was getting increasingly long. as he stalked through the grass, an ocean of stripes appeared before him. next to him, no more than 5 feet away, was a Zebra which was resting on the ground, only just waking up. it was a fairly good size, so he decided it'd be the perfect meal. he slowly stalked closer to it until he was on the edge of the grass. suddenly one of the Zebras started making panicked cries as another, adult lion leapt at one of them. without waiting a split second, he lunged at his own meal, only barely catching it before it got up. he bit down hard on the neck, an annoyed snarl coming from him while thinking of how that lion had nearly cost him his meal. he dragged the struggling Zebra into the bush with difficulty, it's kicking making it less than pleasant. soon, it was dead, it's death having been caused of partial suffocation and a broken neck, and was slowly heaved back to the Maneless Lion that was left waiting for him. Nightbane growled "We might want to hurry eating this. i spotted another lion attacking the herd. im not sure if it has others with it. i just went for our meal before it escaped and dragged it back. i think it'd be best to finish eating quickly and then find out whether that lion has others with it". then, without another word, Nightbane tore into the Zebra and started consuming massive chunks of flesh, trying to satisfy his hunger quickly...

Tyretros nodded, also beginning to eat from the kill. Soon he had his fill, backing off, keeping watch, staring off at where the zebra herd had been. Tyretros glanced back, ready to fight if needed, only to bide them time to escape...

Kita eaten his fill and swiped his tongue around his muzzle, pleased at the kill he had made. He rose and walked over to a small rock, feeling the urge to exercise. As if I don't get enough exercise already. He thought and rolled his eyes. Kita got into a crouched position, and sprinted away from the rock, heading towards the river which was uninhabited by crocodiles. Or at least, it used to be.

Night nodded. "That's right," she growled. "For as long as I can remember."

Tornado couldn't think of anything more to say so he merely shrugged, staying silent. He studied her carefully, wondering what she wanted. He couldn't help but think it was an odd name for a white wolf... Night.. He would've expected it to be given to a black coloured one...

Kita continued to run, his paws and legs moving in a rythm, he could just see a zebra herd in the distance. The same one he had taken a member of before. He stopped as he neared, listening intently. He fixed his gaze on a pregnant zebra and it's daughter. He gave the younger zebra a cold, icy stare, that made anything shudder and become scared.

Maka and Darkfur ventured through the dark forest, until Darkfur heard a growl...A good distance away. "Come" He turned and started to run in the direction of the growl, only to meet up with a large grizzly bear. "This is the beast the wind must have been talking about"

Graytalon stood as still as possible, trying not to attract the wolves' attention. Well, this wasn't one of my best ideas. Now I'm stuck here with a couple of wolves who could kill me at any moment. he thought. He began inching up the branch, stopping when he reached the trunk, and crouching low in its shadow. Maybe I can at least wait here until I regain my strength. But the hawk wasn't so sure about this plan. The wolves didn't seem to be in a big hurry to go anywhere, and his wings were so tired that he could barely flap them. And now, one of his legs was starting to get stiff and painful to move. "Must've landed too hard," he muttered dejectedly, before shutting his beak tightly and glancing around the tree trunk. Hope they didn't hear that...

Night stared at where the hawk had vanished and growled to Tornado, "So where'd you come from? Never seen you around here before."

Tornado nodded back the way he came and growled "The woods, but I often go wandering arond the place, like now for example." He glanced at the tree Night had been looking at it, slightly nerveous.

Isoke snorted as she stared right back at the cheetah who was staring at her and narrowed her eyes. I'm warning you, don't come any closer, she thought as she pinned her ears back, flicked her tail, and pawed at the ground, showing her own aggression for the carnivirous animal. She was itching to chase that cheetah away, but unfortunatly her mother noticed her take a step forward and nipped her harshly on the flank, stopping her from going any further.

"You shouldn't fight the cheetah," her mother explained. "Remember, it is swifter than you. Now, come. We must stay close to the herd." At that, the pregnant mare started to trot toward the herd.

Isoke said nothing, but stared at the cheetah for a little while longer before finally turning and following her mother back to the herd, back to safety.

Nightbane growled "Let's go", and then started to move towards where he saw the lion, to see if there were any other scents mixed in...

following the scent, he found what looked like a Pride gathering point. well, more smelt like than looked like. there were a couple of dead zebras there, almost skeletonised, and the area reeked with the scent of Lions. Nightbane looked at Tyretros and growled "What do you think? should we hang around and meet the owners? or go off and find ourselves a less troublesome place to stay?". he flexed his claws slightly but made sure he didn't make too much noise. he didn't want to get the attention of the lions in this area too soon...

Graytalon stood as quietly as he could, not daring to even take another step. He shifted his weight off the stiff leg and cringed slightly when it sent a twinge of pain shooting through the bone. He swayed a bit, picking the foot up off the branch. The hawk swayed more as a slight wind blew through the leaves. His foot instinctively extended to hold onto the branch, but with another stabbing pain, he recoiled, losing his balance and flapping madly before plummeting out of the tree...

Night got to her paws and watched the falling hawk, growling in an amused tone, "Well what have we here..." She padded over to where the hawk had landed, sniffing the small body and giving it a nudge to see if it was alive.

Tornado padded curiously over to the fallen bird, sniffing it. He murmered "Well that was un-expected.. Is it alive?" He was thankful for its sudden appearance and only a little bewildered

Graytalon slowly half-opened his eyes. Everything was blurry and the ground beneath him seemed to be spinning. He made a feeble hissing squawk upon feeling something nudge his limp body, and twitched his wings in fright. The hawk remained where he was on the ground, stunned by the unexpected fall. A drop of blood trickled down from his forehead into his eye, and he made another weak squawk before falling silent and trying to blink the blood away.
