after roughly 20 minutes of sailing at full speed, the storm's influence seemed to be weakening enough for him to directly sail away from the storm. it wasn't long before the storm began to die down, it's heading taking it away from the ship. by this point there was a sizable gap between them and the Moondust. "Strike the sails and heave to" he called over the deck, before walking down onto the deck and entering his quarters. "Now, where were we?" he said, his hat off to one side, Rainbow flying towards him and landing on his hat, straightening it, as the macaw began munching on a banana. "Chains! Chains! Put em in Chains, RAAAAAAK!" squawked Rainbow. "Oh right, chains. so what's this chain link about then?" asked James...

Storm looked up and sighed. "My ship is special in other ways," she began. "It was erected from the sea by Poseidon himself. But of course everything comes with a price..."

James almost groaned in annoyance. "So how does the chain fit in?" he asked, as Rainbow took off, James' hat in his claws as he fluttered across the room, landing with a slight skid on the currently empty desk, stopping at the side of the golden chainlink...

"My soul is connected to my ship," Storm continued. "But with the chain, if I can bind him, the price is forfeit and I can be free." She went over to the desk and plucked the chain up.

Cosimo breathed a sigh of relief as the storm started to let up. He ran a hand through his damp hair and steadily caught up with the Reaper. "Lower the sails," he ordered and leaned ungracefully against the helm.

"Sounds a bit like Jones' story," Adeline commented quietly. "Just the whole...bound to the ship part, at least." She watched as Storm picked up the chain and sighed. "So you need the compass to lead you to the rest of the links right?"

"Yes," Storm said. "Well really just the rest of the chain, I would've gone searching for it myself, but it seems my methods of navigation are not up for the job."

"And what methods would those be?" asked James curiously...

Storm scratched her head nervously. "I've a map, that's like your compass except it shows me where I can find the thing I want and it shows where everyone I know is," she explained. "That's how I was able to find you."

"Hm, interesting," commented Adeline, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. "How did you come to possess such a map?" She was thinking a voodoo woman, or perhaps from some other place that held mystical qualities.

"An associate of mine, Paris Lovelace, you probably never heard of him," Storm said. "He prefers his solitude."

"Well, what kind of place is this chain likely to be hidden?" asked James as he sat in his chair...

"That's the point, it could be anywhere from deep sea to rugged mountain," Storm said. "But even I can admit, gods like symbolism and can be predictable." She stopped and pondered. "What about Calypso's Island?" Cosimo asked suddenly walking in. "Poseidon did favor her at one time."

"Something that powerful wouldn't have been left there when she left. and being that close to her, chances are she definately knew it was there and would've taken it. the odds of it being there are rather unlikely. i still don't see how the compass will take you to it if the map can't. if anything, the map's more likely to take you to it. it not only shows you what direction to go in, it shows you that AND where it is specifically" said James...

"True your compass isn't that accurate, but the fact of the matter is, my map just can't find it and I don't know why," Storm said, taking out the map and slapping it down on the desk. Cosimo walked up to Storm and placed a consoling hand on her shoulder.

Adeline raised her eyebrow. "That's a little unusual, and no need to get angry about it," she said softly to Storm and glanced at James, silent as a lamb, thinking. It would be much easier if we all went looking for this chain together right? She finally spoke out her thoughts. "Why don't we just all go out looking for this chain? That way, we can use both the compass and the map?"

James gave Adeline a conscerned glance, before sighing. "If you think you can handle it, i don't see why not" he finally said. "But i'm not going to leave the compass with you, Storm, and i have no intention of leaving my ship. So unless you'd agree to a cabin on board the Reaper, or osme other solution that leaves the compass on board this ship, it's no deal" he added, taking a bottle of rum from the rum locker on the wall and taking a swig from it...

Storm sighed and ran her hand down her face. Cosimo bit his lip. "I can watch Moondust while you're on the Reaper and it's not like we'll be far behind," he said. Storm sighed again. "Deal," she said and held out her hand. "Or would you rather a blood oath?"

Adeline shrugged at James. She thought it was a good solution to the current conflict at hand. She put her hand over her stomach and glanced out the window, wondering how long the journey would take. She hoped, with the combination of the compass and map, the task wouldn't be that difficult.

"The last man i made a blood oath with is now cursed to ferry souls for all eternity" said James dryly, still not over his loss of Yuke as his closest and most trusted friend. he took a sip of the rum and sat down...

Storm dropped her hand and rose her eyebrow. "Well, better that then have your soul tied to a ship & end up being one of those souls," she said.
