James stood at the wheel of the Black Pearl, watching the crew. they had been working hard and behaving ever since he punished Nine Tails. nobody wanted to get on his bad side. 2 men even planned a mutiny and nobody aggreed, out of fear of what would happen. the Captain had been practicing how to use a sword since the age of 8, and could hand'le it better than anyone in his fleet of 2 ships, totalling over 700 men. he also had a fiery rage which all the men saw when he punished Nine Tails for attempting to break into the spirit room. he had been asked by Rafael to make Gibbs his first mate, since he wasn't able to handle the strain of 2 roles on the ship. James saw Gibbs walk on deck, and said "Oi! Gibbs! get your sleepy, drunken hide over here!". Gibbs staggered sleepily as he made his way to James. when he arrived, he said "Yes Cap'n?!". James said "i need you, to become my new First Mate. my current Bo'sun is both that, and a First Mate. he asked me to relieve him of his duty as a First Mate, since he can't handle both roles. what say you?". Gibbs said "Yes, Cap'n!". James called Rafael, then said "you have been relieved of your duty as a First Mate. Mr. Gibbs will take it from here. that'll be all, Rafael.". the large, heavily built, muscular african said "Yes Cap'n.", and James told Gibbs to take the ship's wheel for a moment. Gibbs did as was asked. James opened the compass, and it pointed toward the Rotten Monkey. he said "move the ship out from behind the Rotten Monkey, Gibbs.". once they were of to the monkey's side, James opened the compass again, thinking and desiring to find his father. it pointed straight ahead. James asked Gibbs "if the compass leads to my father, what do we need Barbossa for?". Gibbs said "the compass can tell us where to go, but it can't steer us 'round the perils that await us on the path leadin' to yer father at World's End. Barbossa supposedly knows those waters, which is why he's with us. we all know what he plans to do afterwards. he wants to abandon his ship, take the Black Pearl fer 'imself and leave us there ta die, takin' our ships with 'im.". James said "well, he'll need to do alot to turn the crew. when your free, ask one of the crew members what happened to that hard backed fellow, Nine Tails. then you'll know why they work so hard on board my ship, and why they wouldn't dare turn against me.". Gibbs nodded, and James said "you can go, Gibbs. i'll take the wheel.". Gibbs left, going to ask one of the less busy crew members about Nine Tails.
James thought about the future. what would they do after they rescued his father? split up? that would be impossible. James, Adeline and Yuke had built a close bond with eachother, every one of them trusting the other with their lives. they were also nearly unbeatable, with the joint tactical intelligence and skill with swords. England would have to send half the Royal Navy after them to even have a chance of disabling them. the three had become close friends, James and Yuke being friends since childhood, when they both lived in the same town in a little area of Isla Muella that only a group of smugglers knew. James had lived there since he was 12, living with his uncle and working as a blacksmith, a trade he had been in since he was on Redmond. he was a professional with a sword, one of the reasons the crew never dared challenge him. Yuke had moved to that Smuggler's lair at the age of 12, 2 years after James arrived there. they became close friends and then parted when Yuke became 16. James left almost the next day, his ship, the Black Dragon, now known as the Black Pearl, was finished. they reunited soon after, when a letter arrived to James that Yuke had been captured and locked up on Douwesen for no apparent reason. James went there and attacked them with the Black Pearl, the new name of his ship, ment to scare all those who saw her. James' destraction was good enough to free Yuke and get him his ship back. they then met Adeline when they planned to kill the Admiral at Redmond [or is it Port Royal?]. all that had happened in the last 8 months. James knew that they could not split up after that. now he was thinking of what to do after rescuing his father. go after Davy Jones and rescue Will's father? terrorize the caribbean? the world? that, would be decided later. for now, he had to rescue his father, and put an end to Barbossa's plans.....

]" James was surprised at the name, then remembered the monkey that had been pestering them for so long. James told Raphael to get the men to set full sail. soon, the Black Pearl had pulled away from the rest of the squadron and was closing in on the Rotting Monkey...
