the low, faint thuds of footfalls could be heard in the trees, the thuds not having the range of those of a super predator, the owner of these being somewhat more passive. Erebus walked through the jungle quietly, the only sound to hint he was there being the sound of the occasional bush being pushed out of the way, and the herbivore's footsteps on the soft lush ground. as was a habit of the herbivore, he spent the peace to reflect on his past. it wasn't a pleasant history, but at this age, it was all he had left. more than once he had considered finding a herd of his kin to live the rest of his days in peace, protected. but the sad truth of the matter that regardless of who he found, he'd eventually be unbearable to them and would be driven out. his only family were his brother, and a son who had disappeared shortly before the herd got attacked all those years ago. he had long since given up hope of finding him alive, convinced he had likely been one of the first victims of the Gigas that slaughtered the rest of the herd. the elder sighed. How could I have let myself deteriorate like this? it was a question he had asked many times, but always got a different answer. sometimes it was Because you're bitter. others it was Because you can't get over the past. yet others it would be You fear change. each time his subconscious would give him yet another reason. grunting, the Trike settled on a decision. I've had enough of this. Enough sulking. I can't let our family line die out like this. with a lone, miserable old bull whose constantly feeling sorry for himself. It's time things changed thought the Trike. he continued onwards, heading towards one of the small lakes he knew were in the area. it'd likely have other herbivores near it. from there, he could find out where to go to find others of his kind...
Blade shifted in his spot, dreams of the massive concrete jungle still haunting him. he ran through the streets as a hatchling, forgetting everything he was taught in the terror of the moment, his former leader, Yellowcrest, hot on his heels, the furious Allosaur charging after him. "You think you can kill ME?! You're hardly worth the egg you hatched from you insignificant whelp!" boomed the Allosaur as he lunged, Blade leaping to the side and into an alleyway, barely missing the angry buck. "I WILL FIND YOU, BLADE! YOU CAN'T RUN FOREVER!" roared the massive, mutated Allosaur, caught in the entrance of the alley, his heavily muscled form preventing him from pursuing. Blade continued to run, suddenly feeling the ground disappear from under him, the feeling of falling striking him, falling into the blackness for several minutes, the Allosaur roaring in panic as he saw the ground approach, the distance between them disappearing in seconds...
Blade jumped with a roar of panic, eyes wide as his form landed again with a thump, having no legs to support the Allosaur, who had been sleeping on his side. the Allosaur was breathing heavily, panic-stricken, looking around wildly, at first not recognising his surroundings, his eyes adjusting as he took in the sounds of the jungle, slowly calming down, his breath evening...
"It's too quiet. something's wrong" growled Rampage, having become uncomfortable with the long period of silence from her mate. had the fights ended he would've summoned them. but Crusher's anger at the loss of his territory to his brother meant that he would normally be very vocal in his combat. and yet, the massive Tyrannosaur's signature booming roars were nowhere to be found. she walked ahead, Hunter, Lightning and Serena following close behind her, Serena in the midst of the three Rexes, safe from harm...
Fatalis lay silently in the cave, seemingly resting, his flank rising and falling amidst the thick layer of leaves and ferns they had found in the cave. what nobody would notice though, was that he was in fact listening silently...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
