Switchblade's smile widened slightly at the sight of her tigerstriped friend and she stepped out away from the fern clump. "Likewise," the green Lili hissed a note of what sounded like relief in her voice, referring to both raptors' comments. "I wasn't thrilled to find that we were all separated either... In fact, I was planning to look for you Rose, but then got a bit... distracted when I found myself surrounded by my own kind... Some new friends, one not so new," she added in response to Hazel. She sounded a bit apologetic toward the end, simultaneously feeling sorry that she hadn't tried to look for Rose sooner, and glad that she'd met the other three Lilis, though not quite sure how to verbalize it...

The olive raptor blinked, tilting her head slightly and looking mildly unsettled. Dropping her voice a bit further as she saw Rhojis shoot a glance over his shoulder, she hissed, "But... you're as much a part of the pack as I am... I mean, we're all equal, except for Fatalis maybe... we should all be heard..."

Howler shook his head. "That's not what I mean. I mean... my brother and I... weren't the best of friends..." He frowned and looked at the ground. "He was a bit more... power-hungry than I was."

as Crusher closed in the Giga ducked down, intending to spear the Rex's stomach with it's massive jaws. but luck was against it, as Crusher saw the movement coming, lowering his head in it's path as he closed in, though the Giga tried to attack anyway, launching and biting the end of the Rex's snout, Crusher snarling as he thrashed almost the instant it's jaws closed, leaving several grazes on his face but slipping out of the strike, the Rex twisting his head down and turning the attack against it, biting down on the top of it's snout and heaving upwards, pulling it into a standing position, before pulling it toward him and letting go, biting down on it's back as it stumbled forward, thrashing violently, a snap indicating he had at least broken a rib, as various chunks of the predator's armoured hide were mangled beyond swift recovery, blood spilling from the wounds as Rook screeched in pain. "You will PAY.....ROOK....WILL HAVE....REVENGE!" bellowed the Giga as it backed away, before retreating, Crusher snorting irritably, twin jets of vapour coming from the Tyrannosaur's nostrils as he watched the Giga run, the Tyrannosaur unleashing a booming roar of warning as he gazed at the retreating predator, listening to it's strides once it entered the tree line until they faded. and with that, the Tyrannosaur turned and began to walk back to his own turf...

"psst! Save the chatting for later you two" hissed Fatalis over his shoulder as a scent struck him. "You smell that?....Tenontosaurs. we're getting close. keep your senses sharp and your eyes pealed. stay low and be aware of your surroundings. these things are a primary food source for Raptors, and they're naturally extremely alert. that's their survival tactic. we need to find one a long way from it's family. the more experienced groups of them tend to have defensive tactics. we jump one too close to the others and they'll come to it's aid. not unusual for an unwary raptor to get crushed by the flank of another tenontosaur while it's attacking one" he explained through a strained whisper. less than 200 feet away, an elderly tenontosaur was reared up on its hind legs, eating from the lower branches of a tree. there were other Tenontosaurs all around it. a distance away, the alpha male of the herd drank from a river...Fatalis would have to be careful. the river was big enough for Crocs..and he didn't want to be on the recieving end of that...

Thorn took a closer look at the young raptor. Yes, he recognized her, he suddenly realized. The pale coloring of her mother, the dark stripes of her father, even the scar on her shoulder from the time a mutant raptor had struck her when she was just a hatchling. "Ah, Rose," he growled, genuinely pleased that she was alright. "It's been a long time, little one."

Rose cocked her head, trying to put a name to the voice and scent. "...Thorn?" she guessed tentatively. He let out a pleased growl. "Wow. Nothing like being captured by humans to bring old friends together," the blind raptor joked.

"Another distant aquaintance?" Hazel thought, raising a scaley eyebrow slightly as she tried to make sense of things. "And to think, if the humans hadnt come, they would still be distant" She smiled and growled after the short pause "Its good to meet you, Thorn...and...?" She trailed off as she looked over to the silent, rust colored Liliensternus

"Rapture." the Lili said absently, nodding, slightly embarrassed that Thorn saw his attempt to flee. Against his better judgment, he would stay...for now.

"Rapture" Hazel repeated, nodding her head. She looked to gray colored Liliensternus, who seemed to be as reclusive as Rapture and growled "And what may I call you?"

Though the unusually skinny Lili still hadn't moved from her place on the sand, she raised her pale, gray-crested head before she hissed, in a voice as mild as her coloration, "Strange how similar my name is to yours... I'm Haze..." She made the observation with a slight tilt of her head that became a polite nod. As much as she enjoyed the freedom of solitude and wasn't one for much conversation, the gray Lili tried to be respectfully pleasant toward others...

Sylicora closed her mouth, stopping before she could ask any questions about Howler's brother. Being naturally curious, she found it difficult to resist asking another quick, whispered query before they got too close to their target, but after fighting the impulse for a moment, managed to push it toward the back of her mind and think more about their task at hand. Rhojis quieted his footsteps, sweeping his gaze over the area around them, his attentiveness partly driven by hunger. He wanted to do things right this time...

Howler nodded silently at Fatalis. They would have plenty of time to talk over dinner, if they caught it. He moved up a bit, cautiously peering out at the herd of Tenontosaurus...

"Well, that is strange" Hazel replied with a bark. She cocked her head as she thought about it a moment. It was no wonder as to why the Liliensternus was named Haze- she looked like she could disappear into the mist that hung over the island after a storm. Hazel didnt really know what she was named after; her scales were dark brown, nowhere near hazel colored and her eyes were blue. It still didnt take away from the coincidence though. She added with a grin "But stranger things have happened...yesterday being a shining example..."

Fatalis moved onwards, beginning to circle around the herd, reluctantly deciding to go for the alpha male, seeing no other viable option in the herd and knowing his pack mates were hungry. still, it had it's advantages. the Alpha male was the coordinator of the herd. if he was attacked, with a bit of luck, the herd would be thrown into panic, allowing them to take down the kill relatively safely. his eyes darted right and left for possible tactical advantages to help them secure their meal, and for potential unnoticed herd members or scouts, so he could avoid raising the alarm. glancing up, he spotted a thick overhanging branch stretching out over the river, branching off to nearly on top of the Alpha Tenontosaur. there was also a rock near it's location, not far from it's flank, and just past cover, a little bit of bare ground seperating them, undoubtedly a chosen position by the Alpha intentionally, in hopes of scaring off less stealthy attackers. "Howler, take position at the edge of the bushes near that boulder. when i give the signal, run out and leap at it. Sy, Rhojis, you two will start off a few feet away from the Tenontosaur. after Howler goes for the Alpha you'll burst out and intercept any would-be saviours. bark, screech and snarl as loud as you can. the goal is to scare them out of their attempts to save him. if none of them come, move in and help Howler bring it down. after Howler jumps at it from the side, i'll come down from above and on it's head, and attempt to cripple it or slit it's throat to end it quickly. If anything goes wrong and we can't bring down the kill or are forced off, we retreat and meet up at the cave. understood?" hissed Fatalis barely above a whisper, shooting glances at the Tenontosaurs warily, conscerned they may have got a shred of a hiss, but thusfar seeing no sign of detection...

Howler nodded silently, swallowing the apprehension he felt, and began to move into the undergrowth, to try and get around to the boulder without being seen...

Fatalis went back into the depths of the jungle, to ascend a tree from a distance, so that the sound of climbing it wouldn't reach the prey, soon weaving through the branches and moving into position, waiting for Sy and Rhojis to get into position, and for Howler to make his move...

The raptors gave a slight nod each, Sylicora watching Fatalis and Howler move away for a second before turning to follow her brother. Just be as scary as possible... she thought, suddenly feeling a bit pressured as the pack split. She glanced at Rhojis, noticing what could have been apprehension in the way his eyes darted around, looking for the best cover to wait in, watching for things that might make too much noise if stepped on, and checking for signs that the Tenontosaurs had noticed them... Sylicora crept close behind in his footsteps, keeping herself low, quickly losing Howler in the vegetation, but keeping her senses sharp. When the gray raptor slowed, she tried to calm herself, almost fearing the sound of her own heartbeat would betray them, stepping up alongside her brother to peer cautiously through the plants at the now much closer alpha Tenontosaur...

Haze nodded. "Very true... Before then, I hadn't seen another of my kind in months... Now suddenly, here we all are..." Switchblade inclined her head at Haze, the pale Lili's experience sounding very similar to her own in that respect, though she still couldn't figure out a good reason as to why Haze was so underfed... Though she initially had trouble hunting alone, Switchblade had been able to adjust after a few days and a few failed hunts...

Howler was soon in position, watching the Alpha Tenontosaur from the bushes nearby, partially obscured by the boulder. He swallowed again and tensed his legs, then sprung from cover, leaping high in the air and down onto the Alpha's back, digging his footclaws into the herbivore's scaly hide as deep as possible to keep a hold on beast...

the herbivore immediately bellowed as Howler leapt from cover, tossing itself away from the attacking raptor, though it did little to evade the assailant. as it thrashed in an effort to disorientate the raptor, Fatalis screeched, leaping from the trees above and landing on the upper neck, his claws striking just behind the skull, his feet further down the neck, the Raptor sliding down a bit, a series of gashes left in the talons' wake as the Raptor attempted to maneuver himself into position to kill it. Meanwhile, two large bucks were charging from the herd to help, bellowing angrily at the raptors in an attempt to scare them off...

Rapture shifted uncomfortably as the other Lili spoke, once again reminded of the bond these three apparently shared. At first, he had no problem being there, thinking this Haze was as unknown to the others as he. But now, he seemed like an outcast...which made him paranoid...at least, more so then usual...

Howler scrabbled to keep ahold of the dinosaur, his hind legs pumping wildly to grip the Tenontosaurus, leaving even deeper gashes in the beast's flank. He gripped the top of its back with his foreclaws as he did so, trying to debilitate the herbivore through sheer blood loss...

The siblings, both tense with nervous energy when the signal came, bolted through the last patch of forest separating them from the herd and burst from cover, accompanied by a piercing, two-toned shriek as their oddly combined voices projected as one toward the oncoming Tenontosaurs. Skidding to a stop in the herbivores' path, they stayed close enough to each other to cover the gap between them as they leaped and swayed, arms spread wide, Rhojis' malformed row of quills standing on end as he screeched again, Sylicora adding in her best rattling hiss as she bobbed her head like a snake about to strike...

Renegade had watched them, from behind, out of the cavern they were occupying. He didn't quite acknowledge Fatalis' statement to him and Pulsar, as if he hadn't heard him, instead rubbing the edges of his claws on his right hand in a back and forth motion, creating a raking, scraping sound...
Pulsar frowned at Renegade's seeming lack of seriousness to the situation, before nodding resignedly to Fatalis. The leading raptor had failed to note that he, being a fairly docile and laid back raptor, disliked fighting, and didn't unless he could avoid it...
Clarity of thought before rashness of action...
