The furniture in the room was blackened in some places - scorched by stray flames. There were burns in the carpet and what might have once been a dresser underneath a mirror on the wall was burned to nearly nothing but ashes. The nightstand, remarkably, was intact. As for the picture resting on it...that was another story. The glass was smashed, pieces scattered over the floor, and the one corner of the picture was burned so it looked like the only ones in the photo were a red-haired woman and a dark-haired man. The woman had amber eyes - the man's were closer to orange. Both had slitted pupils. Both were smiling, revealing gracefully curved fangs. The headboard of the bed next to it was scorched as well - and half of it was missing. The results of experiments gone badly wrong.

Yoruichi smiled and reached out to Jojo. "Still exploring?" she asked.

JoJo leapt backwards and barked loudly, startled. "When the hell did you get here?!" He snarled at Yoruichi, now understanding how Ira felt before. He kept his lips curled before hanging his head. "Not that you'll answer" he thought. He approached the girl and began rubbing his head against her leg in apology.

Yoruichi chuckled. Apparently he hadn't noticed her on the way in. She started petting the ink dog, still amused.

"I guess I should've knocked before I came in?" JoJo growled quietly. He stopped moving, enjoying the company he had, even if he was just in a bathroom. "Sometimes...I wish I could speak to you Yoru... I dunno why, but when ever Im around you, I feel like I can relate...and its not just the wing issue.." He growled. How could he have guessed the reason for that was his master's wolf form?

wow...she wasn't joking when she aid things were falling apart... thought Gaara as he walked into the room, even being careful where he stepped, as if expecting the ground to fall out from under him as he neared the nightstand, reaching for it and pulling the First Aid kit out, before looking around and examining the room more carefully. what caught his eyes most was the picture on the nightstand, the scorched corner of it drawing his attention. this wasn't the whole picture, but he wondered what had been where the scorch mark was...

I wish I could understand you, Jojo, Yoruichi thought somewhat sadly, her hand resting on her friend's shoulder. You must have so much to say.

JoJo growled solemnly. "Its funny how alike we are..despite the obvious differences" He thought. He reared up onto his hind feet, resting his forepaws on the girl's shoulder before giving her a few licks with his blue tongue. "Im glad I found you" He barked

Yoruichi made a startled sound in her throat, one hand automatically reaching back to help her keep her balance. The other stroked down Jojo's spine, the young demon smiling faintly despite her surprise.

after a few moments of thought, Gaara turned, heading for the door, planning to take the first aid kit to Ira or Yoruichi...

JoJo got back onto all four's and then turned back towards the door. He had a lot more rooms to check out. His form began to deteriorate until he was just a blob, slipping under the door and sliding across the carpet outside. There was a sloshing sound as the creature began to reform, and pattering as the dog ran down the corridor

Ira was back at her piano, playing slowly. She didn't want to think about her parents. They were gone, and they weren't coming back. That was all there was to it.

Yoruichi shut the cabinet and got to her feet, stretching. It's not here, she thought with a barely audible sigh. That much I'm sure of.

"found it" said Gaara as he walked in, first aid kit in hand, the bedroom key's chain wrapped tightly around the thin metal handle...

The young demon turned. "You're kidding," she muttered, even as she saw it in his hand. "Where was it?"

"in her parents' bedroom" responded Gaara simply. "She'll want this back" he said as he twisted the first aid kit, showing the key necklace...

JoJo came to a dead end. He stopped running, sliding across the carpet, just barely stopping to avoid hitting the wall. He was about to turn around and run back to Yoruichi, but then caught sight of a painting. Finding himself intrigued by the image, he stared up at it, a blank expression on his face...

The blue cruiser passed over the appalachian mountains, the wind left in the speeding craft's wake blowing off a layer of powder from the snow capped peaks. His destination was nearing. Suddenly, his proximity sensors went off. "Damn!" Galaak blurted out, catching himself using English phrases subconciously. His space craft was apperantly spotted from the ground, and the human population's Air force was investigating. "Stealth mode activate!" He snarled in his native tongue, the vessel slowly disappearing, becoming wavey like a mirage before becomming fully invisable...

Yoruichi cocked her head, curious. Her parents' bedroom...no doubt one of the rooms Ira had told her not to go poking around in. Hesitantly, she reached out with one hand, palm up. "Want me to be the one to take care of her?" she asked quietly, her crimson eyes serious.

Biting her tongue to keep from blurting out that she wasn't exactly new to knife wounds, she closed her fingers around the handle and gently pulled it from her friend's grip. She slid by him and left the bathroom - as she did, her free hand came up to her scarred shoulder and started tracing the old wound gingerly, as if she could still feel the knife cutting through her flesh.

Ira looked up, fingers slowing to a halt on the keys as Yoruichi came in, kit in hand, and quietly shut the door. The younger teen's lip quirked. "Come to fix me?" Yoruichi rolled her eyes and knelt beside the other demon. "Yes," she said, pulling the key and chain off the handle and giving them to Ira. "Good. We can exchange campfire stories while we're at it," Ira said, taking her necklace and replacing it around her neck. "You first, doctor. Every right not to answer my question, though." She shrugged out of her shirt so Yoruichi would have an easier time getting to the wound. "How'd you get so many cuts?" Ira asked. Yoruichi stilled for a second. Then she went back to what she'd been doing.

"I didn't have the greatest childhood," she said quietly as she worked. "My father abused me from the age of nine. He murdered my mother when she tried to take me away from him...but he carved up my back in front of her first. I've always wondered why I didn't bleed to death then and there." Ira winced sympathetically. "Ouch. Damn..." And here I thought she'd just been in one too many fights, the redhead thought grimly.

once Yoru had left, Gaara looked down at the dark coloured canine that had been next to her. "I suppose it's just you and me for a while" he muttered. a blob seemed to form from sand on Gaara's shoulder, morphing into a look alike of the dog moments later. "and now there's three of us" he added, looking at the dog clone on his shoulder...

"So what happened to your father?" Ira asked, turning her head to be able to see Yoruichi out of the corner of one eye. "I killed him when I was thirteen," the older demon replied simply. "It was him or me." Ira fell silent, thinking. After a short pause, Yoruichi murmured, "What of your parents?" Ira felt her lip curl. "Murdered," she said shortly. "Not long after I first joined the assassins."
