"Those dirty little.." Kala muttered his own personal curse, though the frequency meant that Galaak couldn't even hear it. "You okay?" he asked after a moment. "Looks like that little move took a lot out of you."

Los Diamantes was in for a rude awakening as the red, glowing silhouette of Zakai's warship rocketed towards the city limits, completely shedding stealth in favor of speed and maneuvering. It wouldn't matter if the humans saw them coming or not anyway. They would have unpleasant company very soon either way. It was close to nightfall from what Zakai could tell, which only made him even more sadistically gleeful. Cephian suits allowed them to see flawlessly at all hours of the day and night, giving them an exceptional advantage over the diurnal humans. It would only make the panic even more divine to the Cephian warrior, and make his victory over Kala and his Ascatian friend that much more complete...

The canine looked around the edge of the trash can at the other animal, eyes narrowed in a sort of "don't push your luck" expression. The creature tossed out a half-empty can of unidentifiable meat before returning to its feast...

"I will be just fine knowing this will be that ship's last flight" Galaak replied as he sat up, taking manual control of his ship as it gradually caught up to the warship. "Activate boosters!" He commanded with his gruff voice.

At E-doch's rear, the hull parted. The cloak was dropped and a rippling distortion passed over the cruiser as it finally appeared. From the openings on either side of the ship, two large engines appeared, a stream lined dome shape at the front leading to a wide rocket at the end. A green light emanated from the boosters before being belched out into a bright streak in the night sky, the craft screeching after the Cephian ship. It was the first time the ship made any type of noise audible to outside ears...

JoJo began to pant happily, jumping on the food. What it was remained a mystery that not even his senses could solve, but it did not matter. Eating it meant he remained alive just a bit longer and his stomach was that much closer to silencing itself.

Zakai finally detected E-doch on his sensors when the ship reappeared, amused. "Sacrificing agility for speed, eh? Let's see how quickly you regret that move..."

Suddenly, a hatch near the back of the Cephian warship opened, and a large cloud of tiny black cylinders poured out, activating even tinier thrusters to keep themselves aloft, forming a wall to protect the ship as it continued its race towards the city. The cylinders were mines: each one alone was little threat to a ship the size of Galaak's, but the cloud of death that was now in its path would prove to be significantly more powerful. Even worse, their explosions were not like those of traditional mines: they exploded in massive clouds of sheer cold. A single explosive could flash-freeze several human-sized targets in its blasts radius. This many at once could very well damage internal systems on Galaak's ship not shielded against absolute zero temperatures, or even freeze the engines and knock it out of the sky...

Galaak ran his fingers back across the control orb, E-doch's nose tipping upwards and the boosters allowing the craft to avoid the wall of subzero mines as it began to rocket skywards. Split seconds after that, the boosters shut off and Galaak tilted his ship downwards again, but instead of being propelled downwards it continued to keep a steady forward course. E-doch's plasma cannons slid out from their holds, locked their aim and fired, the two energetic spheres blasting through the mines, causing a chain detonation around the aft of the Cephian ship...

The Cephian ship, not only shielded against the cold like its inhabitants, but also well out of range of the mines (there was no need to stop moving to drop the mines, even at this velocity), was out of range of the mines when they exploded, leaving behind a very cold patch of air and a bright blue flash that could be seen even from the city in the distance, but little else. Zakai had to admit that he was impressed with the sudden turn Galaak's ship had taken, but he didn't bother waiting around to ask about ship schematics. Though he was perfectly willing to fight the Ascatian head-on, he had a better idea in mind. Phase Two of his plan would commence as soon as his ship was safely protected by the tall structures of Los Diamantes. As such, he didn't slow down and continued his current trajectory towards the city...

Kala had to brace himself when the ship suddenly took such a sharp turn, though the metal arms certainly helped. "Any particular reason you did that?" he asked, unaware of the miens that had nearly killed them...

"They decided to make this chase into an aerial obstacle course" Galaak replied flatly as he leveled out his ship and lined up for another attack. While he would be focusing on the enemy's engines, he did not want to risk having the downed ship crashing into the city and cause even more destruction...

"Watch for more dirty tactics," Kala replied. "Zakai's a big fan of those..."

The Cephian warship passed the city limits in a bright flash and loud roar of alien engines. To the casual listener, it may have sounded like a very close airplane, if the engines weren't producing a red glow and a strange, eerie warble as it steadily slowed down upon entering the city proper. Now, all he needed to do was find a suitable area to drop his cargo...

"As are most bounty hunters" Galaak replied somewhat dryly. Explosion after explosion rocked the warship as Galaak sped up his craft, taking advantage of its slower speed and firing upon it. The ship began to circle the Cephian vessel, strafing around it as the cannons unleashed their fury on the enemy's hull...

The Cephian ship swerved around a skyscraper as Galaak's ship closed in, letting its shielding systems shrug off the first few shots before taking cover from the incoming plasma fire. In addition to using the building as temporary barrier, the ship dropped in altitude by an alarming degree, before circling around the skyscraper again to keep Galaak off-balance as it descended towards the street below...

A pair of muffled thumps, followed by loud bangs, echoed across the street of evening Los Diamantes. Two blocky and rectangular pods descended rapidly from the Cephian ship's belly as it passed overhead. The pods slammed into the asphalt on the edges of the streets with incredible force, before their segmented walls shattered and fell apart like the perversion of a blossoming flower. A Cephian Trooper drone emerged from one of the pods, while the other, far larger, revealed a far greater threat: Selk, inside a Devastator Suit.

The Devastator Suit was around nine feet in height, towering over every other Cephian infantry suit design. It was also far bulkier and wider, more like a massive block of metal with legs and arms than the more humanoid designs of other suits. Selk's head was nestled safely in the suit's armored chassis, with a red-eyed helmet protecting his featureless face. The suit's right arm ended in a powerful, chain gun-like weapon similar to the standard Cephian rifle, but faster-firing and more lethal. The left arm was protected by a massive plate shield that sheltered the suit's second weapon: a pulse launcher that fired a single concentrated ball of energy that exploded with incredible force on contact, or after a short delay of sticking to the target. Either way, anything in the blast radius would be instantly vaporized without proper protection.

Zakai's ship stayed overhead, keeping an eye on his soldiers below while keeping Galaak's ship distracted. If they attempted to help the humans from the sky, Zakai had no qualms about pounding them to dust while their backs were turned, and the heavy panic the attack would no doubt cause (as well as the cover of the surrounding buildings) would prevent it from being an easy task. That left only one option: fight them on the ground, where they could capture Kala and leave this mudball far behind...

Galaak made use of his ship's incredible maneuverability, circling about the opposite way Zakai's craft did, blasting it when a clear shot became available before moving in tandem with the ship, weaving through the other buildings and moving in ways Zakai could only dream about. All the while, the Ascatian was fuming, though his blank expression and dedicated movement did little to betray it. This battle was between them, yet he was endangering the populous in a bid to tilt the odds of the fight. "Disgusting" Galaak grumbled, before he ordered "E-doch, prepare plasma shells"...

Zakai's ship shrugged off the gunfire and spun around as Galaak's ship sailed into view. A hail of red missiles spat from the ship's nose and smashed into E-doch, exploding violently on contact and casting an orange glow over the darkening sky. Sure, Galaak's ship was somewhat more agile, but it wasn't a warship. Zakai's, on the other hand, most certainly was. Blow for blow, he would be certain to come out on top...

Selk raised his left arm and fired a pulse blast into the middle of the street, timed perfectly to smash into a passing car, which attempted to screech to a stop before the missile hit. It was far too late for that, however, and the resulting explosion sent the car tumbling sideways a few times, landing on the opposite side of the street in a flaming heap. Snug inside his Devastator Suit, Selk continued his destructive rampage, firing his chaingun with wild abandon, not particularly aiming for anything at the moment. He didn't have time for precision. All he had time for was to pound the surrounding buildings and any unfortunate pedestrians with his weapons until Kala showed up for him to crush like a bug...

E-doch shook visibly when Zakai finally fired back, and Kala shouted, "Might I suggest a different course of action?! We can't just jink around these buildings all day without eventually crashing into something! We need to take this fight to them on the ground!"

One of Galaak's readouts began to flash, detailing the status of the ship's shields. While they would be able to deflect several more blows, at this rate they would be depleted before any progress could be made. "Are you mad?" Galaak asked as he pulled out of the exchange, flying over the drone and Devastator. "Unless they step out of their ship and abandon those units down there, I am not leaving this craft, Kala" With the combined weaponry dispatched already, the two would not have a chance if they engaged without the protection of E-doch. From underneath the ship's crescent wings, four holes appeared in the hull, revealing chutes extending well into the bowels of the cruiser. Seconds later, four capsules streaked out of them, slamming into the ground around the robot and Devastator, the ensuing explosion engulfing the two, drowning out the screams of the civilians in the area

The Cephian Trooper had skittered off as soon as it had appeared, vanishing into the alleyways of the city well before the aerial bombardment commenced. Naturally, Selk wasn't as lucky, being so slow and ponderous, but it didn't matter. The plasma shells had certainly done something, but when the explosions vanished, he was still standing in the devastated landscape, a silvery sheen glowing around him, before vanishing. In addition to powerful weapons and incredibly thick armor, the Devastator Suit was equipped with a shielding system that was almost absurd in strength, but had one flaw to counter its incredible energy expenditure: the shield only activated in order to block heavy weapons fire, and did not bother activating when certain arms fire (specifically, those of light and medium arms fire) hit it, as the suit's armor was more than adequate to defend against such attacks. Selk ignored the attack and continued his own, plodding off down the street to find another area of fresh targets...

Kala had observed the whole exchange, and sighed. "Well, now you have two reasons: one, that Devastator will not fall so easily unless we fight it up close and personal. That shield is specifically designed to absorb heavy weapons, but doesn't activate to protect it against most forms of infantry attacks. My blades could cut through that armor like butter if I can get close enough, and you could no doubt provide fire support. Second, whatever this is, I know one thing: Zakai WANTS us to go down there. It's a trap so he can capture or kill me. He won't waste all this effort just to bomb us if we get out. I can bet my life on the fact that he just wants me and then leave the planet for good. If he really wants to play that game, I'll play. And I'll show those b***ards that Kala, criminal or not, if not to be trifled with!" His mechanically altered voice, already grating enough, became unnaturally harsh and cold by the time he finished speaking, flexing his clawed hands aggressively. After a moment, he paused and added, "That, and I HATE flying..."

Off in the distance, Mortum can see the flashes of explosions, as if something intense was going on. It wasn't often that somethnig like that was seen, even in the dead of night.

"The hell? Fireworks?" Mortum pondered. "No.... that was too large. It had to be an explosion."

The knight soon turned in the direction of the explosion. Whatever was going on, it had to be bad.... things don't explode that large and be small problems.

Aya had a strange sensation as she watched the television, almost as if everything was moving in slow motion. Her vision was blurry and some things seemed to twitch in unnatural ways. Feeling hot suddenly, Aya headed towards her restroom to cool off, but the door seeemd to get no closer no matter how much she walked. Soon, she broke out into a run, but even then, the bathroom seemed to get no closer, and seemed to actively try to get away from her. Eventually, after what felt like an eternity, she finally reached the door. With a surprisingly loud creek, the door opened.

"What's going on? This can't be real...." Aya soon entered the door...

Dr. Craven watched the two gang members, smirking slightly. He could hear the sound of the alien ship and the explosions. Whatever those were, he would investigate later. However, he coudl also hear a diffrent sound mixed in with it... the sounds of a pair of leathery wings beating at a set pace. Slowly, he reached into his pcoket, and pulled out a Colt pistol, causing the two gang members to also pull out their weapons and aim them at him...

After a moment of thought Galaak relented. "Fine. You have the combat armor, so you lead the charge. Ill have E-doch on autopilot to provide aerial support if need be" He said, bringing the cruiser to a hovering halt over a relatively short building. Its windows were blown out and the walls riddled with holes from Selk's gunfire. If Kala was right about all this, it could bring this terrible conflict to an end sooner. With that, he undid the straps and got out of his seat, the mechanical arms releasing their hold on Kala. "Let us hurry" Galaak said as he walked through the cockpit exit with great haste, his nanotech suit beginning to spread over his body...

Mortum bounded with incredible speed across the roofs, until there were too few roofs left for him to jump on. When this occurred, Mortum leaped off of the roofs, and began to run on foot. He had to know what happened. There were probably cops already on the way, but he didn't care. He had to be sure what had caused the explosion, if everyone was okay.... but most importantly if he could catch the culprit and bring him to justice before the police could. He wanted justice to be administered as deserved.... and this criminal seeked death. A painful, painful death.

As Aya entered the bathroom, something seemed.... off. The room was far larger than normal- it seemed to have no walls and was covered with a light mist- and the colors seemed be shades of purple and grey, and were distorted. Not only that, but there was a young lady was slouched on achair within eye range, crying. Cautiously, Aya approached the lady, each one of her footsteps echoing in the silent hallway-esque room. Soon, she reached the lady, whose crying was almost deafening this close. The officer placed a hand on the woman's shoulder, trying to make her feel better.

"What's the matter, miss?" Aya asked, perplexed as to how this all happened in the first place.

"I'm.... I'm all alone, and I've got no one to help me care for my baby!"

In her arms was a ball of cloth, with what Aya assumed was the baby inside. The woman begins to cry again.

"Shhh..... it's alright," Aya said in a placid manner. "I'll help you. Just tell me what happened."

"R-really?!" The woman said. "Th-then take this, please!"

The woman handed the child to Aya before she ran off into the mist, screaming in horror. Aya raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"What the hell? What could be wrong with this child?" Aya takes the cloth off of the baby's face, and is met with a horrifying sight- an obviously human child, but it was in no way a human- it's flesh was nasty ans swollen, with a huge pulsating head, oddly sha[ed eyesockets, and a complete lack of a nose. Yelping with surprise and shock, Aya drops the child, who began to cry hysterically, before its body began to swell and grow. A loud roar seemed to bellow out from it before it disappeared. Now thoroughly terrified, Aya turned to get out of this hellhole, only for a huge monster to be blocking the only exit. Its antennae twitched violently, and its jaws clattered menacingly. Backing up, Aya reached at her waist for a weapon, but then she remembered- she was off duty when all this happened! The beast twitched and squelched as it approached Aya, drool dripping from its maw. Twin tendrils sprouted from its shoulder, armed with menacing mouths themselves, and a large scorpion esque stinger sprouted, like a tail, from its rear. Aya kept backing off, but the beast seemed to keep coming toward her. Soon, Aya turned tail and fled, but she wasn't fast enough. The beast had knocked her to the ground and pinned her beneath its talons. She stared into its mouth as a long, barbed tongue came out, dripping constantly with fluids, before the beast struck...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Aya awoke with a loud scream, before she wiped her face off. Her heart was racing, and she was shaknig violently. It was all just a nightmare....

"That's it... take the bait, 'criminal...'" Zakai snarled as he saw the ship move for cover, not bothering to pursue and instead keeping an eye on the festivities below. "I'll have your pretty little suit soon enough..."

Kala nodded, eager to finally get out and kick some a**, as it were. Unsheathing his adamantium arm blades, he sprang forward, easily keeping pace with Galaak without exerting any real effort...

Another flaming vehicle tumbled around the corner ahead of Mortum as he ran, nearly crashing into him. Down the street was Selk, for the moment oblivious to the beings presence, considering him to just be another panicking civilian. Instead, the armored Cephian focused on the destruction of his surroundings, firing a couple pulse blasts at the fleeing mobs. Zakai probably wouldn't approve of killing innocents so rashly ,but he certainly didn't specify NOT to do it, and that was good enough for Selk...

Mortum managed to stop right before the vehicle, looking at its burnt, completely obliterated form. This was not caused by the explosion. No.... it was far more recent, and done with some sort of heat weapon. Mortum turned to the sound of civilians' screams and the firing sound of a bizarre weapon. Mortum's form radiated with energy. He was angry now. No, angry was too light of a word. Mortum was furious. Almost like an animal, mortum lept, using the car as a platform, before he landed near the cephian war machine. Not even bothering to be civil, Mortum stretched his arms out, and thrust forward. A blast of dark energy hurtled out towards Selk's suit, sending it flying a couple dozen feet onto its side, before the knight rushed in to attack....
