"I am General Grievous," replied the cyborg. "General Serephir is elsewhere at the moment. Who is this?"

"You may call me...Spectre." the voice responded simply. "I was hired to protest you and this General Serephir. My employers mentioned an upcoming conflict that would increase the risk of you two dying...apparently they do not want that." it continued, the ship now hovering around the planet...

"And who are these employers of yours?" asked Grievous, not really expecting a direct answer, or even one at all. He had a feeling this Spectre lived up to his or her name...

The voice, in response, laughed. "Evidently you haven't encountered many killers for hire...I, however, am used to not knowing what my employers are called, or why they want what they want. As long as it isn't suicidal and I get paid, I could care less." it explained...

Grievous crossed his arms. "A killer for hire being paid to defend an authority figure? Interesting. I'm guessing you are here to help against the Vong?"

"They were mentioned by my employers, yes. Although my ship may not be of any use, considering the scale of the encounter...I am more then qualified in hand to hand and small arms fighting, and can assist against any assassination attempts." Spectre explained, once again sounding like the whole ordeal was nothing but business...

"Scorekeeper willing, your skills will not be required," replied Grievous. "However, if the battle goes to the surface, which is likely, I will go down there myself, and bring you with me. You will be an excellent assistant to my MagnaGuards."

"I am grateful. May I land on the planet's surface, or are you currently residing in one of your many...unique...ships?" Spectre asked, ready to begin the assignment. He did not know how long he was tasked with protecting the two Generals...he was to contact his employers once the battle at hand was over...

"I am onboard the Malevolence, which is the largest of my ships," said Grievous. "It shouldn't be hard to spot. Land your ship on the hangar. I will send down two MagnaGuards to escort you to the bridge."

"Understood." Spectre replied, the small craft turning as it headed closer to the fleets, specifically the largest ship nearest to the planet. Landing within the hanger, a section of the ship's side came off with a hiss, acting as a ramp for the time. A figure emerged from the the craft...the lights of the hanger reflected off its dark metallic form, resembling a human in shape and body proportions, but was covered in metal. The figure's face was hidden by a face plate, which had one single "eye", that had three glowing lines that snaked around Spectre's head. On its back, two sheathes were visible, the two weapons crossing to make an "X". Its body was thin, but the metal was by no means weak...

Two MagnaGuards stood in the hangar, and upon seeing Spectra appear, began walking towards a large passageway in the back of the hangar, expecting their new guest to follow. In the passage, various trains could be seen zooming to and fro, traversing the massive ship...

"They've come out of hyperspace!" Piett suddenly shouted. Hundreds of thousands of miles away was a vast fleet. There already clearly was thousands of Vong Ships, the ships themselves all of which were different sizes. The ships at once began to move towards Trandosha at a great speed...weapons armed and ready.
"Prepare to fire and..." Revan was about to commence fire but a was interrupted.
"Hold your fire! We've identified most of the ships at lead are not Vong! Their just regular civilian ships filled with civilians in them!" An Imperial Officer suddenly reported. The data was bent sent to the Vardian and TGDA ships. Hundreds of various civilians ship were at the lead, covering the Vong's front. Making any attack at all would no doubt hit a civilian transport.
"Their in range! We can obliterate their forces at this moment, now is the chance to take advantage of our firepower and range" Revan stated.
"But my Lord...we...we cant fire towards them. We'll kill the civilians!" Piett replied.
Revan gritted his teeth...if they attacked know, they would have the opening edge but if they did...they would decimate the countless civilians that were captured by the Vong. And if they didnt attack now...they would have to engage the Vong at much closer quarters and be at risk of being overwhelmed by the vast number.

Spectre looked toward the droid escorts, assuming them to be his welcoming comity. The armored figure followed after the droids, the face plate making it impossible to see any emotion on Spectre's face...

"Commander, it appears the Vong are using civilians to head their assault, as a living shield. the Imperials and TGDA seem to be holding fire to avoid hitting the civilians" said the Revenge's AI. "Have the Manticores lock on and fire as soon as they have a comfortable aim. their targetting systems are precise enough to shoot through the civilian barrier" responded the Admiral.

the 12 large Manticore Long Range Tactical Artilliary ships drifted in a large circle around the main Vardian fleet, the bores of some of their main weapons glowing a dim yellow as they locked on, preparing to fire...

Grievous watched the fleet ahead, then snarled coldly, "TGDA ships, fire when ready." He didn't care about the civilians, since he had used a similar tactic before, and knew that it would make the battle much easier for them, dead civilians or not. He did, however, make sure to fire as accurately at the Vong ships as possible. The TGDA fleet fired, but only missiles and torpedoes, which were much more accurate and could more easily slip through the civilian ships...

Tsavong Lah smirked as he watched the ships paused, but was surprised when Grievous fired. As predicted, the missiles slipped through, but the Vong ships' dovin basals rendered the attack harmless, to both the civilians and Vong. Grievous chuckled. "That's right, focus on my fire. Don't you worry about the Vardians or Empire..." He knew the dovin basals would be preoccupied with his missiles. He only hoped his allies would take advantage of the distraction before they finished absorbing all the projectiles...

The MagnaGuards stood still, until a large train, pulling an empty platform behind it, slowed to a stop in front of them. The droids stepped aboard, magnetic feet locking to the platform to prevent an accidental fall into the chasm the railways traveled over. They turned and waited for Spectre to step aboard...

"Keep running! Go go go!" The UNSC Marines charged up the stairs, firing over their shoulders at the robotic creatures trundling along behind them. The bullets did nothing to the robots' armor and shields. One Marine stopped to focus his fire on the frontmost robot, firing his Assault Rifle full auto. The robot's stiff arm, which almost comically resembled an egg-beater, glowed red, then fired a beam that completely vaporized the unfortunate human in a bright flash of light. The rest stopped at the top of the stairs, looking down at the robots that stopped at the base of the staircase, turning their eyestalks up to them. The humans laughed, noticing their attackers couldn't get up the stairs because of their unusual "feet." "Ha ha! Nice try, you dumb tin cans! Looks like you can't get us now!" The lead robot simply responded with one word, in a hate-filled, angry, robotic voice: "EX-TER-MI-NATE!" The bottoms of the robots glowed orange, and they began to hover in the air. The laughing Marine's face drained of color, and the humans ran again, the now-floating robots flying up at them...

Spectre stepped aboard the platform silently, not bothering to try and communicate with the droids. The armored figure glanced at the chasm below, mildly interested in the ship's design...

The train began again, after a soft, feminine voice, obviously from the train's head, said, "Watch your step!" As the train steadily sped up, until it reached full speed. A few minutes later, the train slowed to a stop, and the voice sounded again, "Have a nice day!" The MagnaGuards stepped off the tram, walking down the passage, fully expecting Spectre to follow. Several Battle Droids stepped aboard the tram, and one stumbled forward with a cry of shock, though he swiftly recovered. The tram said, "Watch your step!" to which the B1 responded, "Yeah, thanks..."

Spectre glanced at the droids curiously, questioning their combat effectiveness, before following his original welcoming comity, his expressions once again hidden by the faceplate, which showed not even the humanoid's skin...

The MagnaGuards walked into a lift at the end of a long hallway, with large groups of B1s and B2s marching past. The occasional Droideka rolled swiftly to its next destination as well. The two droids once again waited for Spectre to catch up, close to their final destination...

The Marines continued their sprint, the robots wheeling after them. One of the humans shouted, "Are we almost to the hangar or what?" A second yelled back, "Shut up and run!" He threw his grenade over his shoulder, which exploded in the robots' faces (or eyestalks, considering that's all that passed for a face on them). The frontmost robots spun around in circles, obviously confused. One shouted angrily, "My vision is impaired! I cannot see!" The Marine who threw the grenade stopped and shouted with elation, while his comrades raced ahead. The human was caught off-guard, however, as the robots suddenly recovered. "My vision is NOT impaired!" The human turned to run, but was shot in the back, vaporized like the last one...

the barrels of the Manticores flared, seething hot, high powered shells whizzing towards the Vong, the shots being so fast that they easily slipped between the Civilian ships...
