Grievous watched the fleet ahead, then snarled coldly, "TGDA ships, fire when ready." He didn't care about the civilians, since he had used a similar tactic before, and knew that it would make the battle much easier for them, dead civilians or not. He did, however, make sure to fire as accurately at the Vong ships as possible. The TGDA fleet fired, but only missiles and torpedoes, which were much more accurate and could more easily slip through the civilian ships...
Tsavong Lah smirked as he watched the ships paused, but was surprised when Grievous fired. As predicted, the missiles slipped through, but the Vong ships' dovin basals rendered the attack harmless, to both the civilians and Vong. Grievous chuckled. "That's right, focus on my fire. Don't you worry about the Vardians or Empire..." He knew the dovin basals would be preoccupied with his missiles. He only hoped his allies would take advantage of the distraction before they finished absorbing all the projectiles...
The MagnaGuards stood still, until a large train, pulling an empty platform behind it, slowed to a stop in front of them. The droids stepped aboard, magnetic feet locking to the platform to prevent an accidental fall into the chasm the railways traveled over. They turned and waited for Spectre to step aboard...
"Keep running! Go go go!" The UNSC Marines charged up the stairs, firing over their shoulders at the robotic creatures trundling along behind them. The bullets did nothing to the robots' armor and shields. One Marine stopped to focus his fire on the frontmost robot, firing his Assault Rifle full auto. The robot's stiff arm, which almost comically resembled an egg-beater, glowed red, then fired a beam that completely vaporized the unfortunate human in a bright flash of light. The rest stopped at the top of the stairs, looking down at the robots that stopped at the base of the staircase, turning their eyestalks up to them. The humans laughed, noticing their attackers couldn't get up the stairs because of their unusual "feet." "Ha ha! Nice try, you dumb tin cans! Looks like you can't get us now!" The lead robot simply responded with one word, in a hate-filled, angry, robotic voice: "EX-TER-MI-NATE!" The bottoms of the robots glowed orange, and they began to hover in the air. The laughing Marine's face drained of color, and the humans ran again, the now-floating robots flying up at them...
