Even as Jenkins was about to speak, he saw one of the security camera's video feeds, and paused. The man turned quickly to the screen and frowned. "Oh dear. Tyrannosaurus. Female. Hard to tell the age from this angle, but she most likely won't be able to fit inside the building unless she's a juvenile, so no worries!" Barnes rubbed his temples. "Ah sh*t, it's probably Sue." Jenkins laughed. "Pffft! What would Sue be doing all the way over here? Her territory is on the other side of the... canyon..." His laugh nervously petered out. "Wait, how do you know about Sue?" Barnes, however, was glaring at Dodgson, who tried to casually look away. "Well, Doctor," Barnes said, his angry gaze never leaving Dodgson, "I believe we just so happened to land in her territory during the storm this morning, and she didn't take kindly to the intrusion..." "Hey, how was I supposed to know we were landing in the middle of Sue's territory?!" Dodgson snapped back defensively. "It was the middle of a tropical depression! It's not like we had a choice!" "Please, gentlemen!" Jenkins interrupted. They both looked at him, surprised. He sounded almost like he was in charge. "Look, did she acquire her... "biological lock-on," as I like to call it?" "Does tearing one of our men in half and then chasing us through the canyon count?" Barnes replied sourly. Jenkins nodded cheerfully. "Yes, proof, evidence! Ah, the scientific method..." Barnes cleared his throat impatiently, and Jenkins seemed to get the hint, quickly continuing. "Yes, hehe, well, uh, I believe you are going to be doing a lot of running then, yes?" "You're the one who helped create these things," Barnes said. "How do we kill her?" Jenkins' eyes widened in shock. "Kill her? Why would you want to do that? She is merely following her instincts! It's not like you'll be able to with your current equipment anyway..." "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Jenkins cleared his throat. "Well, I suppose you should all know a bit more about Project Resurrection, shouldn't you?" Dodgson sighed in exasperation. Go ahead, Andrew. It's not like we can hide it forever anyway..."
Jenkins sat down again as he spoke. "You see, these animals were originally going to be made to be used as weapons against America's enemies," he said, sounding disgusted. Not really a war fan, I guess... Barnes thought. "Of course, as mere animals, they are incapable of functioning on a modern battlefield with any real effectiveness beyond shock value. That is why we added Phase 2." "And what, exactly, does Phase 2 mean?" Barnes asked. "Well, we began capturing some of the animals on the island, primarily larger carnivores, and altered their genome to make them tougher against gunfire and explosives. This resistance varies from animal to animal, but in general seems to make them... armored." "Jesus Christ..." Barnes muttered. "The only real drawback we noticed is that most of the animals were burdened by this armor, making them slower. For this reason, we limited it t the larger dinosaurs, who were already slow to begin with. This includes several Allosaurus, the Utahraptors, the Spinosaurus, and the Dilophosaurus specimens. However, our first test was on Sue. It seemed mostly successful. The soldiers stationed here rarely ventured near her territory after that, and even then only when armed with anti-tank weaponry." There was a long pause from the group listening to Jenkins, until Barnes broke the silence. "We're not going to stand a chance getting out of here if she's waiting for us. We need to find a way to kill her, or at the very least distract her." Jenkins frowned, thinking hard. "Well, there's a large storage area near here. It may still contain some heavy ordnance that never got shipped to the outpost down the river..." "Alright, I'll send three people down that way, if you're willing to show them the way. After that, you can tell us the real story as to what happened here." Jenkins nodded. "Of course, of course. Let me just open this door, and I'll light the way for you..." He tapped a few commands at one of the consoles, and a large door on the far side of the room opened with a muted hiss, revealing a lit hallway on the other side. Barnes nodded. "Alright, Jack, Persephone, and..." He pointed at the wounded mercenary. His shoulder seemed to be doing well, though the man was still only wielding his pistol. "You, Bruce, is it? You three, head to the storage facility. Try to find something we can use to, at the very least, stun Sue so we can get of here when the sun comes up..."
