Pirates of the Caribbean RPG

Where good and bad RPGs and E-wars go to die.

It was late in the evening and the cabin was dark. The crew were gone sleeping by now and Adeline was dozing off. She was changed in her white chemise with white roses bordering the neckline. She had forgotten about the meeting with the stranger.

She was suddenly woken up when she heard the click of her door. She kicked the covers off of herself and looked around the room. The door was still closed and it was very dark, save for the natural light provided by the moon. "Probably just the..." There was whispering, no singing. Adeline went for her night robe and tied it around herself. Somebody was in the room with her. She stood by the safety of her bed. "Show yourself to me, please. Who is it?"

"It is I, the mysterious stranger," said the voice in smooth tones. "Have you forgotten our meeting that was suppose to go on?" He sounded a little amused, yet also a little angry.

Adeline looked down at her feet. "I'm sorry, but yes. I did forget our meeting." She waited for him to speak. When he didn't, she continued. "Please, show yourself to me. I want to see you. We will, we will have the meeting, if you wish."

"I do. And I will show myself to you. But first, you have to close your eyes. Do not worry, for I will not cause you any harm. Yes, that's it." She could hear him walking up from behind her. An excited chill went up her spine. His arms snaked around her waist. He was pretty strong.

"May I open them now," she asked.

"Yes," he answered. She could feel his breath on her ear.

Adeline opened them and first glanced down. She could see two strong hands around her waist. They were bigger than her hands and felt warm. She turned herself around and went to look up at the face of the mysterious man. When she did, she fainted.

Adeline woke up again and noticed that she was in a bed. She wondered if it was all a dream and gazed around the room. This wasn't her cabin. There, sitting at a desk that was placed on the left side was the man that entered her cabin. He was hunched over and fully focused on something. She could see that he had jet black hair that was slicked back neatly and wearing a white ruffled shirt with black pants. "He had a...a black mask on. His voice sounds so familiar though. Where did I hear that voice before?" She turned over and noticed that a rose was beside her on the pillow. She took it in her hands, and caressed the velvet petals before looking up again at the man.

He finally stopped writing and turned around to look at her. Not all of his face was covered by the mask. She could see his lips, his eyes, and the top of the forehead. He had green eyes. Where did she see those green eyes before? "I see that you're awake. How are you feeling, my dear?"

"Fine, I guess." She got out of bed and went beside him, lightly touching his shoulder. "Who are you? And what are you doing?"

He tensed when she touched him and stood up to face her. "Now you wish to see me, Adeline?" He sighed and caressed her cheek. "You always were a curious girl." His gaze hardened. "Too curious for your own good. You ran away from me."

"What? Ran away from you? Who are you," she kept on asking. "Your voice sounds familiar...and those eyes."

"Pull off the mask," he commanded. "If you truly wish to know, pull off the mask!"

Her trembling hands met the leather of the black mask. In one swift motion, she pulled it off and gasped. Now she remembered. This man was her past lover and singing tutor. He was 32 by now. His name was... "Eric? Eric Duplair? M-My...how did you..." She was speechless and and staggered back toward the bed.

Borris finished reading the letter it ended with "Please, I beg you, rescue my daughter! When he read the final bit of writing, particurly the part inculding "reward" and "gold and silver" but mostly the large amount of zeros behind the number.
He looked up at Damien asnd said with a grin "thats alot of money." He replied "Aye, it is" he slamed a knife down on the letter "all we have to is find this lil giry and we have earned ourselvs a mint. but we only have one link. A sloop disappeared the night she went missing, most likely kidnappers. We find the sloop we find our reward." The two men banged their mugs together and drank.

Adeline still waited for his answer, but he was just staring at her with an amused grin on his face. She huffed and sat on the bed. "Answer! How did you-"

"I have my ways of getting around, Adeline," he answered calmly. He knew how to deal with her. "Now, I wish to make a proposal with you." He used the word, 'proposal' on purpose to get her to remember.

"A-A proposal? What kind of a proposal?" Proposal. She remembered the last time he made a proposal and she accepted without question. She loved him back then and her father would be pleased if she married him. He knew that they loved each other. But he was also blind to see that Eric was mad. All she did was ask a question about his past, and he went out of control. She heard what happened to him and what he did. She called the engagement off, too scared of him and his rage. This calm, collected man before her could be a danger sometimes. That was another reason why she went to be a pirate, but she didn't mention it to Yuke or James.

Inside, he was smirking. He knew that she remembered the proposal he made. He continued speaking calmly. "A proposal to help you." He would win her heart back again. "It's been quite a time since you had a proper singing lesson. I am sure that your voice needs some work."

Adeline's hand went to her throat. "My voice?" She was thinking back to the last time they had the Night of Merriment. Her voice did sound good, but it could use some work. "Y-You want me to have singing lessons again?"

He nodded. "But you have to come down here every night. We will spend one to two hours teaching you. You have to make this promise, Adeline." He grabbed her hand and looked in her brown eyes. There was a glint of some kind in his eyes.

She gasped lightly when he quickly grabbed her hand and looked down to him. Her lips were slightly parted, not knowing what to say. Should she accept or decline? "We have another night coming up. Think about how the crew and captains would feel when they hear your improved voice. Think about..." She wondered why he wanted to train her again. "Why do you want to do this, Eric?"

He let out a chuckle. "Surely you want to sound your best the next time you pirates have a celebration up there, no?" He saw her gasp again. "I have my ways of knowing, darling." He would have a suprise waiting for her when the next night comes along too. Something special would be waiting for her when she goes to sing again.

"Well..." She couldn't see the harm in letting him teach her. "Very well." Was that a smirk or a smile laced on his cleanly shaven face?

"Excellent. Now, you must not tell the other captains or the crew about your lessons, even if they do ask."

"What? But...I have-"

"Don't do it." His voice was raised only a little, clearly showing he was getting annoyed.

She sighed and looked down at her feet. "Ok...master."

He loved hearing that title on her lips again. He knew that he now had some power over her. He helped her on to her feet and led her toward the door. "It is time to get you back. Your lessons will start at eight o' clock every night."

She just nodded and followed him. The walk back to her cabin was filled with silence. Adeline was making sure to remember her way back to his room. When they reached the wooden door of her quarters, Eric faced her and gave her a light kiss on the hand. "Remember," he whispered in her ear before leaving. "Eight o' clock, sharp."

She just sighed and nodded, walking back into the safety of her room. She took off the night robe she had on and laid comfortably in her bed. Sleep decided to finally take her.

James was eating a couple of oranges as his breakfast when Yuke came up to him. James said "Good idea. i'll make one before we reach land". he whistled loudly, and moments later, Rainbow came out of the cabin and onto the deck, going through one of the Captain's Cabin's open windows and going over the deck and reaching James. "RAAAAAAAAAAK!" squaked Rainbow, and James knocked him on the head "Quite down, Rainbow! i'm not that wide awake yet!". Rainbow went silent and James said "We should be arriving there in an hour or so, so be ready. we need to be in town, loaded up, and out of town again before news spreads of the kids. whichever way they consider us is bad. if they see us as heroes, our names will be throughout the Caribbean and one of our cover names for the ships will become useless. if they see us as the kidnappers, we'll have an angry mob of people who may just comandeer merchant vessels to chase us down. the faster we're finished, the better". James then handed a bit of orange to Yuke, and another bit of it to Rainbow to keep him happy and quiet...

"the only problem with that idea is that if we do that we wont be able to get to the governor and get the reward for these kids" said James, still eating bits of his Orange with Rainbow sitting on his shoulder...

Adeline was the last to wake up. She rubbed her eyes and staggered over to the small dresser to get ready for the day. She combed her hair down and put on a fresh pair of dark brown pants and a creme blouse. "That was one interesting night," she whispered as she glanced down at her appearence. When she was satisfied, she walked out of her quarters, still trying to rub the sleep from her eyes. She went over to greet the captains. "Hello James, Yuke," she yawned out.

"'Ello Adeline. want some Orange?". Rainbow jumped off James' shoulder, squaked, grabbed the orange with his talons and took it to Adeline, squaking "Open wide! open wide!" as he did so. James laughed, and said "Oi! Rainbow! that's my orange!". Rainbow squaked "Your loss! your loss! RAAAAAAAAAAK!". the crew were watching and a few of them were laughing at Rainbow's behaviour...

Adeline chuckled and gave the orange back to James, but also gave herself a little slice. "Sure, but just a little slice." She finished up her slice. "How are the children doing? Did they get anything to eat?"

James said "Oh yeah. really fat and happy kids". James looked over his shoulder to the crew and told one of them to bring the kids back on deck. in a few moments, they were up on deck, walking over to James, Yuke and Adeline, with a couple of crew members on either side of them. there were 6 of them, ranging from 12 to 16 years old. James looked at one of the crew members and said "translate". the crewmember nodded, and James said "Do you know the name of the port you live at?". the crew member translated into french, and the oldest boy of the group said "Port au Prince". James then said "What is your family's status among the people in Port au Prince?". the crew member translated, and the young man responded. the crew member looked at the young man for a while, and then looked at the Captain in excitement. James said "What?". the crewman said "He's the Governor's son". James smiled. "I thought that would be the answer". he looked at one of the other crewmembers and yelled "get me a few mugs of Chocolate milk for the lads. they've just made my day!". James looked at Yuke and Adeline and said "I think we actually have a reward waiting for us". James looked at his "translator" and said "Ask him who he sees as the enemy in this entire encounter". the crew member asked him, and instead of responding to the translator, the young man simply said "Thank you, Monsieur, thank you". James smiled. the young man then reverted to French to the translator, and the translator looked at James and said "He says he'll make sure that you are treated as an ally to the french, if he can. he says his father will probably already know, since several people had seen the robed men kidnap him, but wouldn't dare do anything because of the robed men pointing weapons at them". James nodded. he looked at the young man, and said "Thank you, Monsieur. your the one who deserves thanks in this case. i was fearing your country may see me as your capteur". the young man smiled, and said "You dont need to thank me. you and your friends deserve the thanks". James raised an eyebrow at the young man's English. he said "Just how much english do you know?". the young man replied "Enough to be able to talk without a translator, Capitan". James laughed and told the translator he could go. James then looked at the young man and said "What is your name?". the young man replied "I am Pierre Durand, sone of Francois Durand, governor of Port au Prince. and what is yours, Capitan?". James said "Captain James Sparrow". Pierre said "It is an honour, Capitan. i have heard of your ventures". James smiled, and said "You've heard of my father, Jack Sparrow. not me". right then, Rainbow squaked "BORING! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAK! BORING!". James laughed and said "It seems Rainbow is bored with our conversation. you may go back to your cabin if you wish. the crew members will be bringing down a few mugs of chocolate milk to you. it's rare, so enjoy it. savor the taste". the french boys nodded, and were escorted back to their cabins. right then, a thought hit James. he saw a couple of crew members carrying the mugs to the boys down below. James stopped them and told one of the crew members nearby to bring a mug from his quarters. the crew member soon returned. James asked "Which one of you made the chocolate milk?". the taller of the 2 said "I, captain". James said "Very well". he poured a bit of chocolate milk out of each mug into the new, empty mug, and then said "Drink it". the crew member looked at the Captain uncertainly. James said "Come on man! drink it!". the crewmember refused. James said "Why?". the crew member stuttered and delayed, and finally said "It's...it's poisoned". James said "Is it now? well thank you for the information. Rafael! throw this man in the brig and prepare me a Nine Tails!". he then looked at the crewmember and said "I'll teach you what happens to those who attempt to get me in dangerous situations". the crewmember drew his blade, but James had put a hole in it's handguard with his pistol the moment it left the scabbard, scaring the crewman enough to make him drop it. James said "Now i think i'll just keelhaul you for attempting to kill me". the crew member was dragged away by Rafael, taken to the brig while James decided his fate. James said "I have to do everything these days...". he took 6 new mugs soon after, cleaned them in the galley himself, had the milk prepared and took it down to the boys himself, to ensure that nothing happened to it. when he arrived he was approached by Pierre, who said "Capitan, we heard gunshots and screaming. what happened?". James said "Someone tried to turn France against me with poison, that's what. he has a meeting with the keel of my ship as soon as we leave Port au Prince. but now, enjoy your drinks. i made sure they're completely clean. made it myself". Pierre nodded in gratitude, and James left after handing him the small tray with the mugs. as soon as he left, he heard talking. apparently the other boys were asking Pierre what had happend. James went back up to Yuke and Adeline, an annoyed look on his face, thinking about the crewmember who almost turned the French navy against him. he looked at Yuke and Adeline, waiting for one of them to respond. Rainbow had gone back to the cabin after they grabbed the crewmember and dragged him down to the brig...

Adeline thought it was nice that James allowed the boys to have some chocolate milk, but she was suprised and annoyed that one of the crewmembers tried to poison the kids in order for the french to turn against them. She shook her head when James returned with an annoyed look on his face. "You did the right thing..." She trailed off and started to smile. "Anyway, that's the first time I saw you share your chocolate milk with anyone."

James smiled. he said "Well, when someone makes me really happy, i will give them something i like. in this case, the fact that we just happened to rescue the son of the Governor of one of the largest french colonies within a few thousand miles, as well as that son's friends, is something that can't really keep me from smiling. that crew member is getting the keel as soon as we leave Port au Prince. i'm going to drag him behind our ship and let the hull rip enough wounds into him to bring in every shark in the caribbean. i'll make sure it sets an example of what happens to murderers here. or maybe i'll just have him dropped from the main mast to the deck and watch all his bones break. whatever looks more painful to the crew. the Nine Tails is a definate must though". James had a strange sadistic streak when it came to traitors and enemies. he knew it, but he thought they deserved it anyway. whatever hurts more, is what they deserve, in his opinion...

She frowned slightly at his suggestions. "I think the first would be more painful than the second. Either that or you could combine the two. First drop him, then drag him." She winced slightly as she thought about what the crewmember would look like after the torture.

Boris rubbed his chin and said "ok, so you saw the Sloop and two other ships. one of which being uhhh "very scary indeed"" The man responded "yes I did" Borris hated talking to brits, it was always difficult. But this man was from Redmond, and he had seen the sloop they were chasing the same day as an murder robbery.
He returned to the shp with the news and they set off after the ships trail. A few days before they had talked to a man who told them nothing about the girl or the sloop but had a story about some ships like the man discribed.

After talking to James and Yuke, Adeline decided to get back to her ship. She saw that the crew were working very hard and smiled. "We should be in Port au Prince shortly," she murmered to herself. She wondered how long they might be staying in the port and frowned. "We can't stay there all day. We have to get in and get out..." That's what she wanted to do. She didn't forget the promise she made to Eric. She didn't intend to break it anytime soon. His words repeated over and over in her head. She leaned against the edge of the ship and sighed, gazing out at the deep blue sea...

Eric was pacing back and forth in his room. His hands were behind his back and his green eyes were focused on the ground. So far, everything was going as planned. Adeline clearly accepted his offer to train her voice. He stopped and glanced at his closed door. His mind went to replay last night. "She promised me. She better keep that promise and arrive here by eight o' clock tonight," he thought. His hands balled into fists as another memory came rushing at him. The memory of her leaving. His gaze hardened into a glare. "She will be mine again. Her father promised her to me!"

ooc: Good idea!

Adeline shot up when she heard the shot from Yuke and gazed at the island with wide eyes. She smiled and laughed, glad that they have finally found some land. "Hear that? Land," she exclaimed happily. She hoped that it was Port Au Prince...

James got to the deck when Yuke announced that he had seen land. the ships drifted towards the harbour, and the boys on board rushed up to the deck to see their beloved home come into view. "Finally..." said Pierre. the ships sailed into port and dropped anchor, and were then tied to the docks. James walked down the boarding plank as it was let down, with the boys leading the way to the governor's mansion. Yuke and Adeline followed. when they reached the gates, the guards raised their weapons, aiming them at James, Yuke and Adeline. Pierre commanded them to lower their weapons. reluctantly, they obeyed the young man's command. Pierre asked James and his friends to follow him. the door to the mansion opened and a large, overweight man that looked like he was in his 50s, walked out, his large, very extravagant clothes standing out among the less impressive clothing the maids and servants were wearing. he hugged his son, and asked him in french "How did you return? to whome do i owe my life for this?". Pierre pointed at James, Yuke and Adeline. Yuke and James watched uncertainly and Adeline was just smiling. by now, Pierre and his friends were all around Francois, and started chattering away about the adventure. Pierre said "these English...Privateers saved us. the kidnappers were going to kill us...something about our hearts for some ritual". Francois raised an eyebrow when Pierre mentioned the word "English", and his moment of hesitation before saying "Privateers", but he was overcome with joy at the fact that his son had returned. he looked at James and Yuke, who were looking rather worried now, what with guards surrounding them. "Thank you, thank you! you have no idea how much i have been worrying about my son's safety! thank you!". James smiled and said "It was our pleasure". Pierre told his father "I think they deserve rewards, dont you, father?". Francois said "Of course! reward! come inside, my friends. we'll settle this deal later". Francois asked James, Adeline and Yuke in, eager to know what had happened and how the situation had unfolded...
