"You and your talk of revenge!" Jenkins growled. "How brutish! You see now why seeing a human face after six months can be a bad thing!"

Persephone nodded her head, then began to head down the lit hallway. Her hand reached into her pocket, pulling out her magnum. She agreed with Jack. There was something... not quite right. She had a sense of dread coming down upon her as she moved down the hallway, just slow enough to alow the other two mercanaries to keep up with her. Hopefully, they wouldn't run into anything that wasn't inanimate in the Storage Facility... The last thing she needed was for the Deinonychus to come pay a visit... or worse, for her to stumble across a Rex nest... She shook her head, shaking out the near infinite list of things that could happen to her. She needed to focus now. Not be tired, not be overimaginative... she needed to FOCUS.

Hiero had no problem staying behind, he moved over to the video screen and stared at the moniter. In his head he thought about all the facts, then in his head came to a conclustion. 'Myself and everyone else are being chased not simply because it is mobile and for sport but because she "met" me, now she hunts me and will never stop... either I must die or it must. Who will survive is left to the forces unseen.' He frowned and turned back from the screen.

Jenkins rolled his eyes. "And I thought those two down in the labs were neanderthals..." he muttered...

Jack and Bruce continued to move, waving their pistols back and forth carefully, watching for any signs of life nearby in the dimly-lit halls. "I hate this f**king place, man," Bruce muttered. "Bad enough that we've got that big d*mn lizard after us, but there's probably little ones here ready to screw us over too..."

One of the lead male Velociraptors suddenly paused, sniffing the air. More human scent, stronger this time, and more fresh. There was prey nearby. No longer relying on vocal communication at the risk of being detected, the male turned to the rest of the pack hopping from foot to foot excitedly, before abruptly turning and trotting silently down the hallway...

"Just keep calm, boys, and everything should be fine.... just don't waste your ammo if somethnig DOES show up. Make every shot count." Persephone said to both of them, not even bothering to turn her head to look at them. She was ahead of both Jack and Bruce... and did so becuase she didn't want them to see the tiredness in her eyes. Now that I think about it, that chair back there was rather comfty... she thought ni her mind as she continued down the hallway...

Getting the hint, the rest of the pack silenced as well, following the male on swift feet.

"Oh, don't worry, I'm calm as can be," Jack replied sarcastically. Sddenly, Bruce hushed him. "Shhh! Did you hear that?" "Christ, Bruce, don't pull that sh*t right now--" "No, I'm serious, I think I heard, like, a scraping noise or something!" Jack rolled his eyes. "Did you ever think that the base is probably somewhat noisy? Not everything here is a godd*mn dinosaur, dude." Bruce took a deep breath, and sighed. "Alright, alright, let's just keep moving..."

The lead male had paused for a moment, listening. He could here the odd snorts and grunts of his human prey. He began moving again, but much more slowly this time, ready to ambush the humans...

Tensed muscles quivered with excitement. Though they had just hunted, they hadn't forgotten how the humans had injured one of their own...and were eager to return the favor.

Rick continued to follow his comrades, having remembered a few of the dinosaurs that Jenkins had mentioned. The one that had been most notable to him was Spinosaurus. He faintly recalled having seen this creature in the third Jurassic Park movie and as he did so, remembered that the creature in the movie had been larger than a T-rex. The merc hadn't read any dinosaur books that he could recall mentioning this dinosaur's size, but regardless, he hoped that they were on another part of the island far from where the group was...

Persephone slowed down, her footsteps each being as silent as possible. She could have sworn she had also heard a sort of scraping sound just now,and even though she was tired, right now, she had a bad feeling that there was something up ahead... "Everyone keep quiet... have your weapons at the ready." The mercenary wispered to both Jack and Bruce. She wasn't exactly in the mood of becoming the Queen of the Dead...

"What do you think we're doing?" Jack hissed quietly. Suddenly, he heard something else: a chirp. And not a bird's chirp, either. "Oh, sh*t..." He spun around, shining his flashlight down the hallway. They had just passed a four-way junction, the two corridors to either side bathed in darkness. Bruce followed Jack's gaze, and his eyes widened as he saw a shadow pass over the wall, caused by the reflective light of both the ceiling lights and the mercs' flashlights. The shadow was an eerily familiar shape, like that of a large bird. Jack cursed. "Great, more raptors. How about we move a little faster?!"

Persephone had also turned around and seen the shadow of the raptor on the wall. She gritted her teeth, the sight of the shadow making her completely wide awake and alert. She remembered reading years ago that raptors could run faster than humans, so trying to outrun this thing would be foolish. "Let's keep moving. I'll watch our backs. You two just focus on anything that might be up ahead..." Persephone said as she raised up her magnum...

"No, stay up front," Bruce said, pointing his gun down the hall as the shadow began to grow in size, followed by several more. "I might as well cover us from back here while I still can..."

"If you say so..." Persephone muttered before moving ahead of Bruce. She didn't want to see the guy die... but she wasn't one to question orders, even from a fellow mercenary...

A youngster let out a low chatter, almost sounding like a purr. The pack was alert, ready for battle. There were more of them than there were humans. They were patient. They would follow until they saw it was time to strike.

Jack shoved Persephone forward. "Come on, let's get to the storage room before they show up!" Bruce nodded, his eyes locked on the hall. "I'll meet you guys there... Or, you know, in hell." He slowly backed up, watching. Suddenly, a feathered head capped by a blue crest popped out from behind the corner cautiously. Bruce immediately fired, but because of his injured shoulder, his aim was off, and the bullet pinged off the wall. The dinosaur let out an alarmed squawk and ducked back into cover. "Well, they definitely know I'm here now..." the merc muttered, steadying his aim again...

The Velociraptor hissed and spat angrily, but quickly regained his composure and barked at his packmates. In the little time he had to look around the corner, he saw that there were only three humans, and two were retreating, while one was defending the area with his strange weapon. Easy prey, if they were fast enough...

The younger members of the pack quickly became both excited and agitated, downy coats puffing up as the raptors chattered and snarled. The females clicked their killer claws against the hard surface they were standing on and made ready to attack.

"Let's move. We'll see what we end up doing when we reach it" responded Jacob as he noted the horde if Compies, sighing irritably as he continued heading back towards the exit, holding the assault rifle's trigger-grip with one hand...

"Roger. I shouldnt have to tell you to be alert, Ive been hearing weird noises echoing through the hallways. I think our feathery friends paid us a visit, and not these feathery...'friends'..." David said as he turned around, scowling at the small, chirping creatures in the dark. He saw their dark shapes huddled together, a quick burst from his rifle could kill groups of ten if need be.
