[The Kingpin]

the next day, Drake walked into the living room, seeing Spencer laying back in one of the chairs. from what he could see, Spencer was snoozing. Drake took note of a load of black burnt-in runes along the Demon's left hand. they weren't there last time he saw. deciding it best to let Spencer rest, Drake found himself another chair to sit in, and relaxed, waiting for the others to wake up. he had to decide what to do next...

Nyx woke up with a drowsy yawn. Then dressed and went downstairs to see Drake wide-awake and Spencer snoring in a lazy chair. "What I miss?" she whispered and sat gingerly on the couch...

Thanatos woke slowly to find Diana in his arms, snoozing peacefully it seemed for the first time. He smiled and slowly sat up and stretched. Diana turned over and opened her eyes. "Rise and moonshine," Thanatos whispered. "You've got to get rid of the time difference quips," Diana answered. "Ah, you know you love it," Thanatos said and kissed Diana. "We should go see if anyone else is up," Diana said and got up to go to her room to change. "Or we could stay," Thanatos teased. Diana turned and smiled at Thanatos before disappearing around the corner.

A shrill cry echoed throughout the house: "Carnival time! Carnival time!" The Demon swooped downstairs, looping through the air, eyes gold and a grin on her face stretching ear to ear. Velkor followed, more slowly, mumbling, "This is why you aren't allowed to have caffeine..."

Gunther landed on the floor, a black puff of smoke appearing as he dropped at Drake's feet. Carter did the same thing, swaying woozily as he walked out of the weird teleportation device. Carter stood there for a moment, then keeled over, puking on the floor. Gunther started to laugh at him, then looked up at Drake.

"... You seem to have forgotten about us."

[Shade]

"Nice entrance," Nyx said. "And what are you screaming about?" she asked Wisp. Soon Diana and Thanatos came down the stairs and plopped themselves on either side of Nyx.

"She's screaming about the supernatural freak show we're going to today," Velkor replied groggily, waving a tired greeting at Carter and Gunther. Wisp hovered in a sitting position above Gunther, saying, "It's not a freak show! It's a carnival!"

"Gunther, Carter. i was wondering where you went. you were just outside the house last night, down at the beach, when the whole issue with Diana started up an-" started Spencer, as Drake interrupted. "Wait wait wait...what 'issue' are we talking about here?". "The Nightmare struck again last night. turned out when it attacked us in Siete's warehouse recently, it jumped into her head during the chaos" said Spencer. "Ugh, not THAT thing again" said Drake irritably. "We won't have to worry about it anymore. i made sure of that last night" explained Spencer, rubbing his temples with his left hand's thumb and index finger, the runes along it showing. "And the runes?" asked Drake. "Oh. those appeared when i summoned a weapon suitable for the fight. it's the reason i was able to kill it. to use it the target needs to be seriously weakened. but if it's weak and you DO hit it, that's it. it's gone for good" explained Spencer. "I thought you weren't able to get into others' heads" said Drake curiously. "I can possess people. it gives me full access to their minds. it's just that it's been so long since i last did it i was worried about my Demonic side taking over and possessing Diana completely. even if i managed to get a grip of myself afterwards, it'd be too late. she'd never be the same again. in some cases it can even cause paralysis in some parts of the body. if someone ends up unlucky and gets paralysed somewhere vital, that's it. they're as good as dead" said Spencer, now getting tired of explaining stuff. "Anyone got an asprin? my head's still killing me from yesterday, and Wisp's squawking isn't exactly helping" he said, his tone somewhat irritable. Drake pointed towards a small cabinet seperate from the others, through the door to the kitchen. "not sure about Asprin, but i know you'll find Advil and Panadol in there. maybe some Solpadeine if you're lucky. really good for that sort of thing" he said. Spencer nodded thankfully, and got out of the chair, heading towards the cupboard. "Now, what's this about a freak show? haven't you seen enough freaks for a week?" he asked, remembering the strange blue ogre that attacked them back at Zerenski's Docks, and the Hedrox at the warehouse...

[TyrannoTitan]

A small bit of smoke wafted from one of the vents, disappearing almost unnaturally after a few seconds. Thel'zan's golden eyes peered through the vent, staring at the various beings who had crowded into one room, listening to their conversation...

"Well, I thought we could use from relaxation and entertainment for once," growled Velkor, sitting down on the couch. "It's not like these freaks are threatening or anything..."

[Shade]

"That sounds... interesting," Nyx said uncertainly. "And are you alright?!" she asked Diana. "I'm fine, throbbing head-ache, but otherwise fine," Diana replied. Thanatos smiled across at her and she smiled back.

Spencer soon walked back, dropping a small box of Solpadeine into Diana's hand. "Painkillers are your friends" he said, sitting down, relaxed, his demonic high metabolism swiftly processing the drug, it's effects almost instantanious for the Demon. "You realise we could be being watched by Zerenski, right?" asked Drake as he eyed Velkor...

"And what's he gonna do?" asked Velkor. "Attack us in the middle of a giant group of supernaturals? As tough as Zerenski is, I doubt he could handle all of us, plus an entire carnival of supernatural beings, especially weird ones. I'd bet anything that means they have unique abilities."

[Shade]

"Or maybe they just looked deformed and they're up for display because they're different and ugly and set up for cruel jokes at they're expense," Diana said gaining speed with each word.

Velkor jabbed a thumb at his chest. "If they're in a carnival because they're deformed, then I'm perfect in every way! Demons, Werewolves, and Vampires all look weird and unnatural. Why would the carnival ones look any different?"

[Shade]

"Maybe the same way they made human ones," Nyx said her eyes taking on a far away look. "Girls I think it's only fair that we go, we promised," Thanatos said. Diana nodded sadly.

Velkor grinned, crossing his arms. "I knew you'd see it my way." Wisp did a backflip in the air. "Yay! We're going to the carnival! We're going to the carnival!" Velkor shook his head, and didn't bother saying anything...

Drake and Spencer looked at eachother and shrugged. "Fine, fine...where the hell is this place anyway?" said Drake. he personally thought it was nuts that they were going to a Supernatural Carnival, of all places. who knows what was there. rare kinds of supernatural beasts, some of which could easily have been under Zerenski's influence. hell, for all they knew, he may even have owned the carnival as a seperate venue for income...

Velkor pointed out the door. "It's down the road a ways. We'll see the lights, I'm sure. This is the first day they set up shop around here, I think." He immediately walked towards the door, Wisp following. "Now let's get a move on so we can beat the crowds!"

[Shade]

Diana rolled her eyes and Thanatos shrugged. Nyx only bit her lip and looked at Drake nervously. "Well let's get this over with," Diana said and walked to the door.

After a few more hours of peace and Nik still on the roof keeping watch, Vincent turned to the others. "We're almost there, should be a few more minutes," he said.

Yeah, Desh nodded. He was suddenly very nervous. Would Dianna recognize him? his physical appearance has changed after all. Or worse... what if she wasnt interested in him anymore. He quickly shook away the thoughts. No matter what he would still love her. He took a deep breath and contined watching the road.[/i]
