Maxwell nods slowly, and looks out ahead into the distance. He too hoped he did not need to get that close, it was certain death from anything bigger than those deinonychus....

"Odds are he'd go right past us and eat it. free meat. free minced meat, sure. but it's meat" responded Jacob as he reached the door, eyeing the animal from his side as he unlatched the doors, gun trained on it, prepared to tear the animal on the other side apart with gunfire if it tried anything...

"As long as he isnt following us like a lost puppy, Im happy. I got you covered from back here" David said as Jacob raised the door locks, moving over to the opposite side of his partner so he had a clear shot of the Dilophosaur...

Jacob pushed the door open, his assault rifle pointing out the doorway ahead of him, noting the Dilophosaur in front of him, his senses focused on his surroundings, looking for anything that may hint trouble, his finger already poised to squeeze the trigger at the slightest provocation...

After the red haze of fury left their vision, the lead females turned to look at their fallen packmates. Snarls turned into low, mournful croons as they nuzzled the motionless body of the dead dominant male. The subordinates stared in what seemed to be incomprehension, filled with grief and anger.

Clarence arched his head up and back, but made no other move, watching the humans, making sure they had room to move past...

The beta Male interrupted the mourning with a loud bark. He smelled the rest of the humans, and he wasn't about to let them get away unpunished. With a screech bordering on a war cry, he charged down the hallway, towards the storage room...

Jacob walked forwards, into the minor lab, keeping half his attention on the Dilophosaur at all times, ready to scatter it's brains all over the nearest wall should it attempt to attack, the only thing keeping him from doing so anyway being that it may attract unwanted attention...

Following behind Jacob, David made up for his partner's divided attention, constantly checking the shadows and listening for the signs of a creature's approach. He was ready at all times to raise his gun and take down a target, be it a raptor trying to slip through the darkness, or the Dilophosaur that made a pest of itself.

Persephone heard the bark and heard the footsteps of the raptor charging right for her. "We got raptors heading right for us!" Persephone shouted back at Jack as she aimed her magnum through the doorcrack. The second a Raptor would come into sight around the bend, she'd shoot. She had 6 bullets in her magnum currently. Better not make a single damn miss... The woman thought to herself...

Clarence snorted, then turned into the lab, ignoring the humans as he brushed past them, heading for the dead compies. It wouldn't be too difficult to find bits of them unspoiled by the grenade's shrapnel...

The first raptor to round the corner and spot the storage room skidded to an abrupt halt, sniffing the air curiously. He smelled something, and it wasn't human. Fluffing his feathers in apprehension, he squawked for the rest of the pack, pacing back and forth nervously, still sniffing, seemingly ignorant of the humans now...

After the Dilophosaur slipped past the doorway, David spun about, sending a powerful kick into the door, the weakened lock on the other side falling into place, trapping Clarence in the room. The mercenary smirked as he looked over his shoulder to see Jacob's reaction.

Clarence looked over at the door as it closed, but was unperturbed. He wasn't a weakling, and he certainly wasn't stupid (for an animal anyway). Breaking the exposed, rusted latch would be easy. First things first, though: a meal...

Persephone trained her magnum onto the raptor, making sure not to expose anything more that the muzzle of the magnum. She reached for the trigger... before she noticed that the raptor wasn't charging at her... instead, it seemed to be aware of something she wasn't.... Somethnig was wrong here, very wrong... but she didn't know what it was...Her curiosity was the only thing that prevented her from shooting the raptor deady right away...

Suddenly, the Velociraptor spun to face the opposite hallway from where he had come from, and turned to run. The raptor was abruptly slammed into the wall by some sort of invisible force, crumbling to the floor with a weak hiss. A monstrous animal then materialized from thin air, lowering its stubby snout to the mortally wounded Velociraptor, before plucking the animal from the floor and shaking it like a dog with a bone, savagely snapping its neck. As the Carnotaur began to devour its meal, a second one appeared alongside it (the hallways here were wide enough to accommodate the animals), staring down the hall at the storage room doors. Both of the carnivores seemed to be injured in several places, and the one eating the Velociraptor had a deformed forearm on its left side, which was otherwise facing away from Persephone's view. With a snarl, the second Carnotaurus turned into the hall and took a step forward, snorting aggressively...

This is not good... Persephone hissed in her mind as she trained her magnum on the carnivore. Her mind was a flurry of activity, trying to findoutjust what on earth this creature was, until the answer hit her like a freight train. A damn pair of Carnotaurus. Meat-eating bull. Just seeing the pair of carnivores sent shivers down her spines and kicked out whatever tiredness she had. She was afraid, dead afraid. "Uh, Jack... It seems we have a bigger problem than the raptors... We got Carnotaurs." Persephone yelled back at Jack while keeping her Magnum aimed at the Carnotaur that wasn't eating. It it DARED move toward her, she would send a pair of bullets through its tiny eyes...

Jack stopped his search and spun around. "What?! Persephone, fall back! Get to my position! Try not to get their attention!" However, it was too late for that. The Carnotaurus roared angrily, taking another step forward, threatening to charge...

Sue had finally arrived in the forest around the research base, but she had stopped before moving too far when she smelled something familiar: another female Tyrannosaur. Being as territorial as they were, Sue, wasn't about to risk a fight with another angry Rex. Besides, she knew the humans were in their strange cave, and they likely wouldn't emerge until morning. For now, Sue hung back, trying to avoid drawing unwanted attention...

Persephone turned and ran, keeping her magnum by her side. She dashed over to where Jack was, moving as fast as she could. First the raptors... now Carnotaurs. Persephone's mind raced as she made it over to where Jack was...

"Did they spot you?" Jack asked as Persephone got near. However, his question was answered when he heard a loud crash. The Carnotaurus had slammed headfirst into the unlocked doors, swinging them wide open. One was severely dented and hung on only one hinge, but the dinosaur seemed momentarily stunned from the hit. Jack quickly dragged Persephone down one of the aisles, to try and hide from the hunting Carnotaurs...

The woman panted as silently as she could as she was dragged into the isle. This simple assignment had gone downhill... just like our overall mission Persephone bitterly thought...
