Seeing the metal towers up ahead, the Lictor sped up, already knowing what to do to take care of the barrier...

As Grievous sprinted away, the landing pad gave way, splitting off from the tower and beginning to tilt dangerously. Moments before Grievous got over the split in the rock, the Queen's tail snapped out, the flat of the tail blade knocking Grievous forward, landing face-first in front of the crack. As the platform fell, carrying the screeching alien and Grievous with it, the cyborg fired his grappling hook, which attached to the small bit of metal that made up what was left of the landing pad. As the cyborg dangled, watching the expanding cloud of dirt and debris below as the landing pad slammed into the ground far below, he sent a radio message back to the command room. "Anybody care to get me back up? I don't really enjoy hanging over a thousand-foot drop!"

"Scouts up ahead, Commander. Heading toward the pass." a voice said to Wyrnn over the communications, who quickly acknowledged, gesturing for the rest of the team to quiet their movements, heading up onto the catwalks of the barrier, while one armored individual activated the turrets, which immediately scanned back and forth on top of the barrier, searching the ground ahead. The rest positioned themselves across the barrier, remaining hidden for the moment, each figure as armored as the last, their combat suits designed to withstand quite a lot of punishment. The rocket mounted weapons further back would be saved for more heavily armored forces that were sure to come...

The gaunts darted forward, the ranged individuals splitting off from the rest, firing their corrosive weapons at the barrier in an attempt to weaken it, while the hormagaunts were quickly taken by surprise by the turrets, attempting unsuccessfully to seek cover in the pass to escape the torrent of plasma fire...

The Lictor, Spikeblade, was able to avoid the turrets by simply avoiding the Gaunts that rushed straight into their fire. Instead, he scuttled up to the barrier and used his torso Flesh Hooks to climb up the wall and get over it without being noticed. With a powerful leap, the Lictor jumped up onto the catwalk with the turrets, still camouflaged, sneaking closer to the oblivious guards...

"Keep your cloak on, Grievous. i'll be there in a second" said Serephir as he left the room, a sinle hand gesture signalling for two of the guards to follow, the others ordered to stay and stand guard on Lissarkh in case there actually WAS something else around. meanwhile, a Nisr'Ankh RVH-66 Attack Helicopter hovered a few hundred feet from the debris, scanning for signs of life, weapon systems engaged...

Serephir swiftly descended to the area where Grievous was, actually arriving a floor above the one he needed to, leaping down the remaining distance and landing softly in front of the door, pushing it open and arriving at the crack. he crouched and looked down at Grievous. "Nice idea with the explosive" he commented as he reached a hand down for Grievous to grab...

Grievous grabbed Serephir's hand and helped himself up. "Thank you, General. This way, I have remains I can study, instead of ashes, which seem to be your specialty."

Lissarkh sighed in relief, turning her attention to a screen that showed the remaining aliens in the corridor, only to see that they were dead, gunned down by the Droidekas once they had arrived at the location...

Spikeblade rammed a monstrous scythe into the nearest soldier, the blade piercing through even the marine's thick armor with ease. Staying camouflaged, he threw the shocked soldier over the edge of the barrier and scuttled away, waiting for a reaction from the other guards...

"Well, i think you'll agree that when your city's overrun with all manner of alien invaders it's probably better to insure absolute death rather than give them a chance. in less severe situations, we make sure to avoid absolutely destroying our targets., for example, the T-8 Inspector drone that had gone with the first attack force has taken DNA samples from those creatures' exoskeletons for study, and i have a gunship monitoring the wreckage below ready to kill the creature if it's survived. don't worry though. it'll avoid vapourising the thing....IF it's still alive" answered Serephir as he headed back towards the control room...

Grievous chuckled, but it swiftly turned into a cough, so he stopped. "Speaking of being overrun by alien invaders, I believe that's happened a little too often for my taste. I say it's time for some well-deserved vacation time, wouldn't you agree?" Already, several commando squads were moving towards he rubble of the landing pad, and the dead Queen buried underneath...

The nearby armored humanoids swung around at once, firing somewhat wildly at the area where their comrade had once been. Vitals of all the squad members were displayed to their allies, and they knew something was wrong when one of their own was suddenly badly injured, giving the rather hopeless situation for the scouting force.

"Lictor, visions modes on." One of the soldiers communed with the others, switching between various vision modes to detect energy signatures as well as heat, soon spotting the hiding Tyranid, opening fire with more precise attacks...

Meanwhile, the hormagaunts were completely destroyed by the defenses, while the termagaunts were more preoccupied with the turrets to notice the grievously injured soldier that was now slumped against the barricade, out of the turrets' sights, holding the wound with one hand, while the nano technology in its suit began to repair the damage as best it could, enough to stabilize the soldier...

Serephir chuckled. "Last time i was told i was going on vacation it ended up with me being surrounded by droids with their guns pointed at me thanks to one of my men accidentally insulting a certain Cyborg General i know" he commented with a smirk as he gave a sideways glance at Grievous...

Grievous chuckled again, this time a little quieter. "Oh, I assure you, where we're going, you won't have to worry about that. That is, of course, if you're willing to join me."

Spikeblade leaped over the opposite side of the barrier, disappearing from sight as the soldiers opened fire on him. Scuttling alongside the wall, he made a beeline for the turrets, which were now being ignored by the soldiers...

"before anything i'd suggest you have that repair drone of yours to have a look at your torso. a cough like that would ruin whatever kind of holiday you could hope to have" he commented...

The nearest soldiers moved to the edge of the wall, scanning the ground in an attempt to find the Lictor as it attempted to escape, knowing the turrets were fully capable of keeping the scouting force beyond at bay...

Grievous shook his head. "This is a normal side effect of the cyborging process used by the Geonosians. I rarely have to worry about it, but that fight may have stirred it up. It will go away soon enough, if I keep my voice low and calm for the time being."

Using his flesh hooks again, Spikeblade rappelled up the wall to a position behind one of the turrets, ramming all of his spiked appendages into the metal and trying to tear through it to find a weak spot...

The turret sparked as one of its joints were damaged, now locked in one direction, which still happened to be facing the far-off termagaunts. The soldiers spotted the Lictor soon after, opening fire at it from a relatively close distance, while the fallen soldier below raised a plasma pistol and fired repeatedly, the shots hitting the Lictor's legs and parts of the barricade around it...

Spikeblade stumbled from the gunshots, the pheromone trail the Lictor was exuding growing stronger, and he scurried behind the cover of the turret, hacking away at it to stop its fire, while using it as a shield from the soldiers' weapons...

"I see" responded Serephir, somewhat confused as to why Grievous didn't search for a way to fix that minor problem. still, he decided not to voice it, and continued on silently...

"Do not worry about me, General," Grievous said, walking back to the tower. "I can easily take care of myself. Now come. We and Lissarkh are heading to Geonosis for a little entertainment."

One of the soldiers lifted a small device, hurling it at the largely useless turret, the device sticking onto the machine via small barbs along its surface, exploding in a bright flash almost immediately, hurling the Lictor back to the ground below...

By then, the termagaunts were either dead or hiding, but soon the larger invasionary forces began to march their way toward the pass, the land around them seemingly mutating, becoming more aggressive and violent, even in the snow...

Stunned and moderately wounded, Spikeblade scuttled away, trying to hide while he found another chance to strike at another turret. For the time, however, he would wait, and the Lictor would have his revenge...

Serephir followed silently, though giving an order for 4 stealth-capable VAMCEB guards to be sent to Geonosis to meet him, as security. his current sec ostly rookies. he wanted some well trained, well equipped guards on hand, just in case. better to have men capable of following his orders and acting on experience handy in a difficult situation, than rookies who would waver if surprised. after the last few months, he had grown to expect an attack at any time...
