OOC: They haven't been unused for ten years, they just happen to have a shelf life of ten years. :P

"Oh, stop your complaining, it's good for you!" Jenkins said in the manner of a disapproving parent. Dodgson grimaced as he took a bite of something. "Ugh, this stuff tastes like toilet paper..." Barnes leaned over to the suited man with a smirk. "Sir... that is the toilet paper..." "There's toilet paper in these things?!" "There's plenty of things in there, thank you very much," Jenkins replied.

OOC: Ah, gotcha.

Riley coughed and sputtered, while looking at Jenkins. "Say what?!" is all he says, before looking at what he was eating...

Persephone let out an inaudible sigh as she took one of the MRE's, unwrapped the foil, and began to eat what was in the box. to her surprise, she didn't begin to gag, but rather, she kept eating it. She took her bites slowly and in stride, to make it seem like she wasn't enjoying it. Oddly enough, to her it didn't taste all that bad, though it did smell horribly. Truth be told, she WAS known as the Human Garbage Disposal back at Westpoint, because she could eat amlost anything. Perhaps her taste was messed up, but so long as it wasn't outright toxic, she could eat it. He reyes looked ove at her fellow mercenaries, to see their reactions to the food...

"It's mostly food, calm down," Jenkins said, sitting down to unwrap his own MRE. "Haven't any of you been in the military before, or were you always... guns-for-hire?"

"Erm, I think I'll be better off with the rations and water I brought," Riley responded, putting down his MRE. He unstrapped the bag on his back and opened it up, before pulling out the few supplies inside, which included a couple of spare clips of ammunition he had forgotten about...

Maxwell begins to eat his food. It honestly wasn't all the great tasting, but there were definately worse thnigs to eat. He simply eats little bits at a time, so that he doesn't end up growing tired of the rather dull taste...

Persephone, already almost finished with her MRE, simply continued eating. Sure, the taste was beginning to get to her, but she could still eat it. Besides, she already had her main agenda to fill out... she took her backpack off her back and put it on her lap, before opening it up. She looked inside of it, moving the parts of her crossbow around as she saw fit...

Riley takes two rations out of the bag and a few bottles of water to share with the remaining mercenaries. He tore the wrapper of one of the snacks and began eating that...

Meanwhile, Jacob had found what he'd been looking for. the door to the maintenence halls. listening carefully to the surroundings, He made sure nothing was waiting behind the door, before pushing it open, his gun aimed ahead of him as he entered, skimming the room for signs of a threat, before turning to look at the back of the door, knowing that what he was looking for would likely be there. the maintenence map. the man smirked. things had just become simpler...

David positioned himself a few feet in the room, past the doorway. Any potential attacker that had been following them would have to try to enter the room if they wanted a piece of him or his partner, right into his line of fire. His gun was raised and the laser light shone bright into the hallway, a beacon for any curious animal. A trap...

down the hall there was a room to one side, most likely a storage room for equipment, minor repair work and maintenence and such. "I suggest we hole up in there for the night. lack of rest will make us easy targets" said the man as he removed the maintenence map from the door...

"Yeah" David replied, still looking down his bull pup. "You can only get so far staring off into the darkness" He shut off the laser sight of his gun and lowered it so that it hung off his side before looking to Jacob. "See if you can find something to jam the handle. I don't want the door opening until we're good and ready to get out of here" He said to Jacob, ready to grab his rifle again, half expecting a hungry carnivore to barrel down the hallway...

as the double door was closed, Jacob spotted a familiar outline on the inside surface. flicking his flashlight on for a second confirmed it. this door used a large sliding lock to seal it. the handle of the metal panel that served as the lock was easily visible, the man dragging it along to seal the entrance. scanning the room for a trace of something useful, he found a long aluminium broom. letting his assault rifle hang from his shoulders, he pinned the bottom of the broom with his feet, grabbing tightly onto the broom handle and length, twisting until he felt a pop, the broom twisting loose from the brush-end of it swiftly. he moved over to the door as he ran the broom's length through the bars used by the metal lock panel, further reinforcing the door's already sturdy lock. he then proceeded to make sure there were no open vents that could pose a problem. once he was sure the place was clear, he sighed, setting his weapon down as he removed his backpack. "5 hours rest. We need to be up and running as soon as possible. I'm expecting the animals will be resting by dawn, so it's best we capitalise on that advantage to finish our work. you want to take first watch?"

"Might as well" David said as he moved over to a bare wall in the room, sitting down on the ground with his gun resting on his lap. His back was braced against the wall and he let out a sigh. He still felt a dull pain from his tango with the Utahraptors, but for the most part his legs were his biggest concern. He was glad to get off his feet and get his energy back. "So. You think anyone's dead yet?" The mercenary asked, leaning his head back against the wall.

"That fact is almost assured. The question isn't IF anyone's died yet. it's how many. My guess is that at least one's been killed. and that's me being overly generous with their luck" said Jacob casually as he lay back, flipping the backpack face-down, using it as a surface to rest his head on, crossing his arms over his stomach, one hand keeping within easy reach of his sidearm...

"Figured as much. What about Clarence. How do you think that ******'s holding up?" Was David's next question, the man shifting his weight about to get in a more comfortable position.

"Probably chewing on some unfortunate dinosaur....or one of the dead soldiers" responded Jacob calmly as he began plotting his course based on the map he had seen...

"You think he got out of the lab?" David inquired, raising an eyebrow. "I think he's still licking up the bits of those small lizards you blew up"

"Ever seen what a hungry dog does to a food spill? I'm guessing he finished it and got out ages ago. with the state this place is in, I wouldn't be surprised if the door just fell loose the instant someone gave a serious attempt to go through it" responded Jacob nonchalantly, as if not bothered in the least by what may have transpired since the Dilophosaur was locked in the lab...

"My dog nearly choked scarfing down a bit of chicken that had fell off my plate once. Greedy *******, but he's one of the closest friends Ive got, y'know? I'm thinking he should have been born a cat though, with all the times he nearly died. **** nine lives, he's got like...17...left" David replied with a chuckle, trying to get his thoughts back to his life when he wasn't out on missions. Relative normality. A small home in a quiet suburb, a dog and TV. It wasn't what you'd expect from a mercenary, but a mercenary wasn't supposed to be predictable.
