"Except THEY wanted to blow me to atoms, remember?" Kala said bluntly, looking over his pilfered shuttlecraft, wiping off a scrap of mud here or there.

"Not all of them. That one, Bate, seemed reasonable enough. Remind me to note that electric shock from an Arc Accentuator is a viable way of reasoning with an enemy" Galaak said as he too headed for the entry beam. He mulled over the irony of what he told Zakai the day before, that he did not prefer using his weapons in order to gain favor in a situation. At this, he let out his breath, not sure whether to chuckle or dedicate more time to continue thinking about it...

"Obviously, Zakai didn't tell them the full story," Kala said, following his companion. "Those two were your average Cephian soldiers. it does not surprise me that one would have a change of heart... though, the one in the Devastator seemed a little... psychotic. There's doing a job, and then there's enjoying yourself a little TOO much."

[C S]

"Its a wonder how he was accepted into interstellar ranks with that mentality. Or are those traits desired in a Cephian solder?" Galaak replied before he noticed that Kala was following him again. He turned his head, a scaly eyebrow raised that the Cephian couldn't see. "You're not taking your ship?" he asked, stopping just beyond the bright cylinder of energy...

"Cephians have a warlike mentality," Kala explained. "They don't really ask questions in recruitment." The Cephian stopped and turned to look at his shuttle. "Well, I'm not exactly concerned about it being stolen, but I suppose I should at least get it somewhere well-hidden..."

[C S]

"I was thinking your ship could be your quarters. It would have resources that I can't provide with a simulation chamber. Not to mention, food you can actually eat" Galaak added thoughtfully. Things he considered meals could be poison to the Cephian, causing a mess of issues with his bodily functions. While the Ascatian would have liked to run tests on his alien comrade, he figured the risk for permanent harm outweighed the knowledge gained. Still, there was no speaking for his future assignments once he left the planet...

"Er... this thing doesn't really have significant living quarters," Kala explained. "It was intended to get me as far away from Cephia as possible, and then I could land and find something a bit more spacious. As you know, I didn't exactly get that chance. It DOES have some rations I might need, though. Still, we Cephians don't really need food all that often."

[C S]

"Considering your extended stay, that's good news for you. Though a contingency is needed if you do run out of food before you intend to leave..." Galaak went onto say, stepping into the beam afterwards, slipping into deep thought.

Kala decided to head back to his shuttle, keeping contact with Galaak via the communicator. "Well, Cephians are primarily carnivorous, and mostly subsist on aquatic life. I don't know what's safe to eat on this planet without a vaccine first, though..."

[C S]

"Vaccine? Well now, what is a scientist to do?" Galaak said, his humorous tone returning at long last. "I will look into it. I can't guarantee success, but I'll give it my best effort"

"Much appreciated," Kala replied, opening the hatch of his shuttlecraft remotely and climbing inside. "But don't worry, you should have plenty of time. I don't think I've even fully digested my last meal. A lot of beings wish they had my species' metabolism, you know..."

[C S]

"A lot of species augment themselves to get rid of such issues, Kala" Galaak replied, keeping his tone neutral despite his prolonged amusement. A dulled hiss sounded over the com-link once the airlock was being sanitized, the static-like noise ceasing soon after and followed by a barely audible buzzing...

"We on Cephia call that 'cheating,'" Kala replied with a raspy chuckle...

[C S]

"Instead of altering their soldiers, the primacy simply allows fanatic and unstable units into their ranks. Lovely" Galaak deadpanned as he stepped into the main corridor of his ship, the excursion suit recalling itself from the Ascatian's body...

"Never said the system was perfect," Kala said, sitting down at the familiar controls of his shuttle...

[C S]

"Perfection is one of few common yet radical ideas found throughout the galaxy, and the universe I'm willing to bet" the explorer said. "The closest thing to perfection that I know about are the basic laws of existence itself, and there still remain many unknowns about these laws"

"Oh, so you're a philosopher now, huh?" Kala said sarcastically. "Ooh, this'll be fun..."

"So... any news on Jackson and his cohorts?" Aya asked.

"Nope," Ryan replied. "I haven't heard anything about him yet.... his plan for the Central Los Diamantes Bank is most definitely still in motion, though."

"I kind of guessed that," Aya replied sacastically.

"But of course," Ryan chuckled. "You always know how to make my day, Aya..."

Aya smiled. She was glad to have Ryan as a friend. She didn't know what she'd do without him...

[C S]

"While it is true I spend a lot of time pondering, I have come to the point where I need not think of the issue. It has demonstrated its truths countless times already" was Galaak's reply as he entered the cockpit of his ship, walking along the path to his seat at the consoles...

"Arguing with the laws of physics tends to get people killed," Kala muttered, activating his shuttle, the craft's red engines beginning to glow and hum with renewed life. "Mind if I park in your ship? Seems like the safest place to me."
