The room was cast in a frightening red glow when the flare flashed to life, exposing the skeletons at the other end of the lab... except it wasn't really a lab. It looked more like a pen. Criss-crossing bars extended across the ceiling of the pen surprisingly tightly together, mostly still cloaked by shadow. No human would be able to fit between the gaps, though a smaller animal, like a Velociraptor, could. A number of small walkways extended diagonally up the walls and up towards the net of rafters, and various tiny bones of smaller animals. The human skeletons were picked nearly clean, with only a few bits of rotting flesh still hanging from them. No sign of life was within, even in the rafters. If any of the brightly-colored, feathered raptor species that had appeared so far on the island were in here, they most certainly would have seen them in here, and they were the only dinosaurs they knew who would fit in a pen this size...
Much to Barnes relief (who was admittedly almost stir-crazy from staying in the dank laboratory for so long), the group had eventually arrived at a large set of slightly rusting double doors. Jenkins moved forward, and with a grunt of effort, slowly pushed one of the doors open with an annoying loud and long creaking. Orange light from the sunrise outside shined into the building, and despite the lights they had, Barnes didn't expect such brightness and instinctively shielded his eyes. A cool, refreshing breeze wafted into the building, which groaned, as if with its own relaxed sigh. Barnes, however, was too focused on what was outside. The courtyard leading to what was apparently the front doors of laboratory was very sterilized, with only a few basic concrete sidewalks (now overgrown or smother with long grass) extending across the foliage-infested lawn. "Alright, ladies, let's mo--"
As if on cue, there was a steady thump of heavy footsteps, and Barnes inwardly groaned. "Screw it, get ready to fire! We may not be able to kill this b**ch, but we can show her how humans fight!" He raised his M4 Rifle to his shoulder and looked down the iron sights at the rustling treeline in the distance, aiming at the general area where Sue's head would no doubt emerge. Dodgson and Jenkins immediately scooted to the back of the group to give everyone else a clear shot at the incoming threat, the footsteps steadily getting louder and louder, until it felt like a literal earthquake underfoot. Again. That didn't serve to bring back any good memories to Barnes' mind...
