"If discipline translates to sanity in the Cephian tongue, then I do hope you maintain it during your...stay... on this planet" Galaak concluded with one final message. With his ultimatum delivered, Galaak felt conflicted. The Cephian already sacrificed so much, his name, reputation and relations in the primacy. Just hours before, the Ascatian overcame his pursuers and rescued him. Now he was making it clear that he suspected Kala's heritage from the strict Cephian military establishment made him a potential threat, that sooner or later the teachings ingrained into his mind would express themselves violently and catastrophically. Was it better to inform Kala of his concern, or should he have concealed it like any other?

Kala merely shook his head, not sure why Galaak was so concerned. Selk's behavior had been the exception rather than the rule in his eyes, and even his attack had been carefully planned and executed...

"Not that I'm aware of," Sam said, as Lydia let the heavy door shut behind her. "Microscopes are there," he added, spotting Atlas's searching gaze and gesturing to the table furthest from the door that led to the holding cells.

He considered many courses of action in the time after the discussion ended. Mandatory psychological assessment, restraints and even modifying Kala's suit to deactivate its weapon capability. He dismissed these options, for he thought they were much too invasive and limiting. By what authority did he have to go to such lengths? "He poses no threat for the time being" Galaak thought, settling on shifting his attention to his other issues. "I will leave him be until given reason otherwise" the explorer decided finally.

He got down to business with the matter settled, this time attempting to tap into the myriad of signals his ship was picking up on. Primitive technology was at work here: television and radio broadcasts. Things that would assist in his assimilation of local language and clarify the customs of the human populous. To observe the culture as it were today was a fascinating opportunity indeed.

"Thanks. That should do, if I can get the results of the blood tests on these vials. Preferably, I'd need the tests on two or three more sets of vials. two or three test subjects in total, two each, one before and one after, preferably of subjects who received the same hybridisation base, so I can skip past any genome-specific defects and pinpoint the collective cause. I'll need to take some of this back to my own lab if you don't mind. I'm more thoroughly equipped to study it there" stated Atlas as he walked over to one of the microscopes, eager to see what was causing the discoloration...

"Feel free," Sam replied as the others went back to their business. "You're in on our project now - you may as well." He himself was keeping a careful eye on a few bubbling test tubes, one labeled "lion", another "tiger", a third "cougar", yet another "cheetah", and the final one "leopard".

"Thanks. With a bit of luck, we won't be spending months trying to unravel this tangle of obstacles" responded Atlas as he put two samples under the microscope, taking a closer look at them...

A week later saw Atlas working in his lab at home, a series of genetic analysers operating as vials of samples stood beside the machine, the man meanwhile working on a second project. Before him was a large 100" monitor, the massive wide screened monitor showing several windows of studies conducted on what one window revealed to be a virus, the 3D model of the virus rotating as the name Lacertadeus Altus written underneath. Alongside the frame were percentages depicting completion, reproductive rate and various notes on environment compatibility. Behind him stood three large vertical cylindrical tanks, filled with some kind of liquid, though the rest of the contents were obscured due to the lack of lighting. Smiling, Atlas left his research to check the analysers, which had three different versions of a solution he had come up with to solve the problems that had occurred thus far. The blackness turned out being caused by a severe conflict between the blood cells' DNA and the invasive genes of the hybridisation serum. This was further supported by the discovery of large amounts of white blood cells in their system upon taking fresh samples. It also explained the agony they were in. As the analysers ceased, readings were produced along with vials containing the samples used in his experiment. He eyed the 4 vials with scrutinous attention, noting one remained black, another was several shades lighter, but still darker than normal blood, and the third was normal. Checking the readings confirmed his suspicions. Reaching into his pocket, he drew his smart phone, sending a message to Sam. It was fittingly brief.

"I've cracked it. Meet me in the lab.
Regards,
Atlas
"

And with that, he put away his smart phone, reached for his suit jacket on a coat rack, putting it on before placing the samples and corresponding serums in slots in a slim steel briefcase, along with various documents on other, more legal endeavours. He hit a few keys on the before finally heading for the small lift up to his library, leaving his lab office behind, along with his experiments, the lift shutting down automatically once he had exited upstairs. As the doors to the elevator closed, a thick steel barrier slid down from the ceiling, the exposed side of it decorated with wooden panelling, camouflaged perfectly with the rest of the wall. Atlas walked up a short flight of steps, the steps sealing themselves off with the base of his semi-circular desk. And with that, the man left the library, locking up, starting up his Estoque and leaving his home through the garage, accelerating out of his driveway and heading towards the Urban centre of Los Diamantes...

It had been a week since Mortum's breakout from prison. It seemed as if the news of his escape had died down a bit.... even with his movements about, he hadn't been captured again yet. The alias of Mortum was a dangerous one to carry now: many people who know it associate with the man who broke out of prison. While he did indeed break out, he is no villain: he only wishes to see this city safe.

No that it mattered to any others.

Jackson was getting sick of having to drop off test subjects now. He'd been dropping people off at Warehouse 15 for a while now. not only that, but he could feel his health waning.... he'd need to carry out his plans soon. He looked at his watch. 12:00 PM. He'd need to wait until a little but later until he should rob that bank. He'd kept the cops off his tail long enough for any rumors to have dissapated by now....

In her lab, Tiffany and Minene were already doing what they done for the past week: testing of products too dangerous and unstable to be tested with what she normally had. Ever since they returned from their little shopping spree, they had performed countless tests, especially on what Minene had decided to call "The Fiery Bullets from Hell" These were ordinary bullets that had been filled up with a combination of Magnesium and Potassium. Normally, the two reactive elements were kept apart by a thin barrier, but when the bullet impacted something and stopped, the forces involved would rip the barrier apart, and the two elements would combine, creating a fiery explosion that could kill a normal man.

Of course, only Minene could be used for perfecting the bullets so that they didn't explode to early on, or too late. The first few tests with them had been... less than sub-par, with the various test guns explodingthe moment the trigger was pulled. However, after a week of testing and tinkering, Tiffany had managed to get it down to within the ballpark of time she wanted. But now, she wasn't testing the bullets to see their effectivness, but to see Mienne's regenerative powers in action. Even with the bullets exploding in her arm, once the smoke cleared, the flesh and skin would already be repairing itself at a stable pace. It was something that made Tiffany feel like a little girl again, gawking in wonder when she had first entered into the wonderful world of chemistry.

"Alright, that should be enough for today. A few more tests, and I think I might just send this off to get patented." Tiffany announced as she moved from behind the blast window. Minene let out a sigh of relief, her arm still screaming in pain from the explosive bullets. It got tedious after a while, but eventually, she'd get the hang of this. The shorter girl headed out of the room, while the scientist was finishing up jotting down her observations....

A thin cover of fog lingered over the heart of the wetland and the shallows were still. The croaking of frogs resounded throughout the early morning hours and deep, warbling bird calls echoed throughout the eerie calmness. The shadows dominated this region of the swamp, giant trees with winding branches did well to block the light of the brightest noon, much less the breaking dawn. The water at the surface had a film of dark green while the deeper depths were practically pitch black. This was the environment the oddity the Ascatian pursued for a week called home. The elusive entity had been documented through fleeting, yet consistent sightings by the natives, so Galaak took up the hunt himself. The explorer navigated the swampland in his excursion suit, knee deep in the marsh. On one side of his dorsal fin was a kit filled with his equipment and on the other was his Arc Accentuator. He panned his head side to side, getting a clean sensor sweep of the area before heading on. The Bio-sign readouts were those expected of the region, known reptiles, birds, amphibians and insects. Silently noting his progress, Galaak got to his wrist device and brought up the projection of E-doch's controls, repositioning his cloaked ship over the next sector of his search...

A dog stumbled out of an alleyway, its legs maneuvering as if they had a mind of their own. Barely keeping on its paws, the animal staggered its way down a sidewalk near the outskirts of Los Diamantes. Looking around at the few people moving ahead of it, the dog suddenly shifted, rising onto its back legs, which snapped and twisted to better support itself in its new stature. Looking at the people, who were too far ahead to notice, as reference, the animal began to stagger down the sidewalk on two paws, its back now straight and its front legs positioned at its sides...

Galaak waded through the marsh, steadfast on his goal. This creature he sought was almost definitely a mutant, a freak spawn of nature. Whether or not it was an evolutionary leap or a doomed dead end was a question that enticed the Ascatian, and kept him determined on this mission. With his craft scanning the environment for genetic signatures and himself looking for signs of the entity's passing, it was only a matter of time until he located the mysterious animal. He was aware that he was growing ever closer to the city with his current route and while he wanted to avoid all chances of accidental contact with humans, he did not want to leave even a fraction of the marshland unaccounted for in his exploration. Doing so could mean leaving a haven for the mutant to hide in ambiguity...

A man in his late 20's walked down the fairly empty streets that were common in the early hours of the day. He wore a long though light dark green coat with large collars. The coat covered his business wear for the most part except for his black pants and shoes. On his head was a feathered fedora, also black but with a silver trim around its edge. His brown leather briefcase swung back and forth as he walked with haste in his step. He turned the corner of the block, seeing a group of about four other people walking towards him, a sight he paid little attention to. What stopped him however, was the smaller figure following them. The man stood, mouth agape at the canine as it approached, not sure what to make of the scene. Was he dreaming this? He blinked his eyes and yet the creature remained...

The dog continued to walk on its hind legs, ignorant to any eyes that may be on it. Gradually its stride began to improve, soon able to walk like an ordinary human.

It was a short while before responders to the reports got to work. Said responders were mere animal control personnel, though a select few of the cases they got over the last week were bizarre and seemingly out of their line of work. One such case was a supposed sighting of a dog imbued with electrical power; the effort to investigate it being substandard due to the sheer ridiculousness of such a claim. This current one was right along this alley. The calls all described a dog walking on the street uncannily like a normal person, its rear legs strangely shaped to allow a gait impossible for a canine. While that alone would have been enough for the incident to be dismissed, the number of calls in a short time period warranted the dispatch of a single van to take a look at the matter.

The white van conspicuously labeled "ANIMAL CONTROL" in big, blue letters was pulling up on the street of the initial sighting. The man in the coat still stood there, visibly shaken. The driver pulled up to the man and their assistant reached for a clip board and pen. They took it that this was their first caller...

The dog continued to parade down the sidewalk, noting the increased attention toward it, but did little in response. It continued to try and blend in, approaching an unoccupied newspaper stand. Looking at a photo of a well dressed gentlemen on the front page, the dog's paws began to shift, the toes elongating and the palm expanding, becoming more human-like.

"An-and it went...went that way" The man stuttered to the two Animal control workers, the note taker scribbling down a few phrases and the directions the man gave them. Apparently the dog had just kept walking straight, crossing streets and moving along at a leisurely pace. The note taker wrote "Oh brother" in red ink over his notes, then thanked the pedestrian for his input. The van pulled off, heading down the street with the two units laughing in between themselves about how they were being paid to pursue something so asinine. It wasn't long until they saw the dog ahead, standing upright. Their shock was compounded just as they drew close enough to see its paws morph right before their eyes. "Jesus Christ!" the driver exclaimed loudly. He couldn't believe what he was seeing...

The dog turned at the sound, staring at the van with a bleak, emotionless gaze, before turning away. The strange animal continued to walk down the sidewalk away from the newspaper stand and the vehicle, content that it was blending in effortlessly.

The past week has been an uneventful one for poor Aya. No information on Jackson' plans had been discovered by ryan yet, and the sheriff seemed to distrust her now because of it. Aya pondered to herself as she sipped her soda before she glanced at her watch. It was a little bit after noon now. The cop sighed before she got up and left the fast food joint she was eating at. Time to get back on shift, she thought to herself.

Those nightmares had been plaguing her now. The same scenario- she was alone with odd situations before that beast came forth and attacked her- occured in each one, and it was driving her insane. What did these dreams mean? What was their purpose? So many questions, she had, but so little time to think them out. She soon entered her squad car and went back onto her route....

A sinful smirk stretched across Jackson's lips as he petted his rat, Sally. When it neared 6:00 pm (for that is the annoited time Jackson has decided on raiding the bank), he will successfully fulfill step one in his quest to take the downtown district of this damned city. Soon, his dreams will be carried out, and-

*knock knock*

"Who the hell is it?!" Jackson growled from his office.

"It's me, boss." It was Buff, his right hand man.

"Come in," Jackson said. The large, burly man entered. "What do you want?"

"Delivered those hostages, sir," Buff said. "How much longer 'till 6?"

"Six hours!" Jackson shouted. "Is everyone prepared in terms of weaponry?"

"Always, sir," Nuff said. "They've been waitin' to do this for a week."

"Good," Jackson said with a cruel smile on his face. "Get out."

"Um, ok-"

"NOW, you idiot! You've wasted enough of my time!"

Buff backed out and closed the door, leaving, Lynch to chuckle to himself. it was all coming together.... Los Diamantes will be taken by storm soon enough.

Kala had resigned himself to enjoying the scenery of the marshland as best he could. While the Cephian wasn't a big fan of aesthetics, it certainly kept him sane to at least walk around and take in his surroundings. In addition, scoping out his "territory" would provide him with significant advantages to any intruders. Kala had no idea how well the humans knew this terrain, but as long as he was at least on par with the general knowledge of the area, he knew what his capabilities and limitations were. Currently, the Cephian perched on a low-hanging tree branch, scanning the treeline for signs of life. He wondered casually in the back of his mind where Galaak was, but he didn't stress over it. The explorer could certainly handle himself...

The two officers were stunned, their training forgotten in an instant. How were they supposed to handle this? What was this creature and where did it come from?! The note taker was the first of the two to snap back to reality and make the grab for the van's radio. "D-dispatch, dispatch, visual contact has- has been m-made. Its...its...we don't know what the hell it is! It could be one of those mu-mutants!"

At that moment, E-doch alerted the explorer. A blip of information appeared on Galaak's visor, the alien text being brief in its description of what the craft had picked up on. It read "New transmission recorded". Ever since the explorer took up his hunt for the unknown, he had his ship actively filtering anything it came across for possible leads. The mutant issue was one of the things E-doch was meant to keep posted on. Galaak looked to his wrist device, cycled through the stored information E-doch gathered to the newest entry and listened to the short radio feed. He slid his fingers across the screen, bringing up an orange projection of a map. Illustrated on the holographic map was the local area, E-doch's location marked by a bright white dot. The site where the message was sent was due north, on the edge of the city. The Ascatian began thinking...

"Don't let it get away. Other units are on the way to offer support" were the orders given to the officers, who reluctantly acknowledged them. The van drove up after the "dog" while inside, the note taker readied a capture pole and net...
