Actually, there isn't any direct proof that the G-Virus was already within Lisa Trevor.
All we know is that her body developed the ability to absorb all other experiments performed on her. In fact, Wesker states in his report about his time as an Umbrella worker "Something new that would bring a new idea to us. The project which changed our destiny, the G-Virus project".
Never was it stated that Lisa held the G-Virus itself (which would be impossible, as it'd make Birkin's lifetime research futile - when we meet him in RE2 he had just finished the G-Virus, so, how could he finish something that already existed? And contradicting the G-Virus project, as it'd no longer be a project) or any (direct) predecessor to it.
If you read carefully, you'll notice that the G-Virus is never directly appointed to Lisa Trevor. Rather, according to Wesker, it seems more of "inspired" in Lisa Trevor's own mutation to the Mother Virus and the T-derivates the Arklay Team developed and administered to her.
