Michael Chriton's really good, so is Dan Brown, I like The Lost World and The Da Vinci Code that they respectively wrote. Can't think of anything else I like at the moment, I'll post when I can think of something else.

i have 4 main favourites. 1 is the Harry Potter series [of course], 2 is the Dean Koontz books. he's an excellent writer that keeps you on the edge of your seat, no matter how big it is!

3, the reason i have The Godfather all over my profile

: Mario Puzo. 4 is another excellent writer of mob stories, or rather story/ novel/ book. Lorenzo Carcaterra only wrote 1 mob novel, but it is excellent. i read that single book, Gangster, one that has earned itself 2 places in 1 Forum

 .

For a quick read, i'd recommened the Darren Shan books. The first series is compromised from about 13 books and the storyline is excellent. I even cried when Mr Crepsley died... His new series of books is quite good as well, but i don;t think it was good as his last series.
I read the Vampir Lestate once and i thought that was amazing. I really admire Ann Rices style of writing. When i have the time, i'll probably read the rest of her books.
Of course, i love all of Dan Browns books. They rock!

I say the best book I've read in awhile is
Warcraft: Lord of the Clans
Its about this Orc who is put into Slavery by the humans. He meets a young human girl who loves him more then anything. His master, Blackmoore caught Taretha(the young human girl) Kissing the orc on the cheek. He called her a traitor and CUT OFF HER HEAD

The orc yelled for revenge and killed Blackmoore with one hit from his sword.
