"What's happened since i was last on duty?" asked Serephir as he sat in the seat of the control room of the massive Galactic Destroyer, arms on the armrests and legs crossed as he looked down at the massive room below the balconey, where several crew members operated at the controls. "Well sir, for one, Vardia's going into a rapid expansion. following the data we've been recieving from our exploration probes and vessels on other factions, we've seen an urgent need to expand both our civil and military reach. as such, Vardia immediately put colonization procedures into effect, and have thus far taken over about 4 neutral star systems, a couple of planets and a moon each colonized with early stage military bases. we're utilising the automated construction systems used for temporary structures, on a much larger scale, to build sturdy, efficient, easily manned bases to keep infantry, mechanised and Star Force troops in until they're needed. some of these colonies have gone into the Civil Expansion stage, with small 1,000 man colonisation groups being placed on them. the planets chosen have thus far been found to contain ample supplies of water and other forms of resources and materiels, and i've heard a couple of rumours of a new kind of metal being discovered on one of the colonised planets, which is large enough to reach about 3 quarters the size of the Capital Planet" responded the Captain. "Interesting...How many planets have we got under our control, aside from Vardia and it's two moons?" asked Serephir. "Thus far, we're looking at about 12 to 14 colonies. the majority are still very early stage colonisation, but a couple have been in the works since immediately after you left, one of which is the planet i mentioned with the metal" responded the Captain. Serephir was genuinely surprised by the number. "And what of our military endeavours?" he asked. "The fleet is expanding rapidly. now that the first few Galactic Destroyers are operational, we've mechanised construction, only using human control to supervise the machines' work. the fleet has reached a few hundred thousand ships at least. easily making it into the millions if you count the various classes. High Command was surprised when you asked for a defensive Star Fleet at that size. with the numbers they were dealing with by then, it seemed oddly small" responded the Captain, who had taken a seat at the massive table in front of Serephir. "I see...and is there any news on inter-galactic relations being made?" he inquired. "Well, though the Koult are still our main source of business, we've also found business with a few other considerably smaller races. Last i heard, the King had had the treasury fund the science department to buy a number of military craft from other races. presumably to examine them for any kind of step up from our own technology" said the Captain. Serephir nodded, satisfied with the answers. after a short while however, the Captain spoke. "We have also detected what may be the Galactic Empire, judging by comparisons between witness accounts and what we've detected. either they have regular travel routes there, or we're nearing a border. they're roughly 25 parasecs from the nearest Vardian colony, but still, at that distance, it's risky. The King has authorised a large squadron of our fleet to be sent to the colony and enforce the star system it's in should the Empire decide to pay a visit. we have heard rumours about them being aggressive on first contact, so the King decided not to take chances" he finished. Serephir nodded, taking it into account, falling silent for now, thinking about what he should do when he finally arrived at Vardia. it appeared an order for progress reports was in order, as well as a visit to the King...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
