I suppose it depends on who you are and how much time you have.
'wasting' a weekend is simply unacceptable in my eyes so yeah.
As for WotW
I never read the book, or saw the original but I can understand why people would be annoyed about it being set in America. What with 'Americanisation'
Though logically, it makes some sense.
I think they aimed to make it a different film. Like, a "What if" scenario.
One problem with remakes is that people judge them from the period of the original, but with the WotW remake, you can't really do that. I mean, one of the things they changed is they had no landmarks being destroyed. ie: big ben from the original.
While it fit with the original, if they did that now a days people would just roll their eyes, its an earth invasion cliché at this stage.
I agree with CS on the tripods hiding underground going: <.< >.>
was just silly.
Onto Cloverfield!
It is NOT a Kaiju movie. If you say that again I'll pull your eyes out with a spoon. D:<
A kaiju movie is about the monster, the monster is the star of the show.
Clover field was about the people on the ground during the attack, and personally, I think it was a refreshing perspective.
Also, IK. I kinda liked how you didn't see much of the monster. Made it scarier and more tense.
