Talking about her family had made Red Claw deeply upset. She hates metioning her family around anyone she meets, but had to finally tell someone, because holding it in, felt like it was eating her inside. Once she had got up, she went over to the river to talk with Nightbane.

Nightbane had chosen a spot that was relatively shallow. he figured a mouthful of sandy water was better than a croc's jaws around his head. the Lion lowered his head, lapping up a few mouthfuls of the cool water, washing away the layer of blood that had painted his mouth and throat, removing the metallic, tangy flavour it left behind. he felt the lioness approaching, his curiosity piqued...

Red Claw slowly wandered over to Nightbane to speak with him. She was limping because her leg was still injured, but was gradually starting to feel. As Red was heading over to Nightbane, she looked around cautiously, her instinct causing her to do so, hoping no other carnivorous animals were around, and because she wanted to be alone with Nightbane. She suddenly sniffed the air for the scent of crocodiles and other stron predators in the area, because she had a feeling some were on the land, stalking her in the evening sunlight. While she stood there, being sure she, Nightbane, and Redtail were safe, she put some pressure on her wounded leg, to see if she could walk on it for atleast seven minutes for the day, with little success on that. As she was slowly continuing towards the nearly shallow river, she spotted a scrumptious rodent scurrying along the dry plains, but she sparred it, not hungry or in the mood to harm a breathing creature, unless it did the very opposite of what she wouldn't do.

The lion kept silent for now, as he drank. the sun was slowly going down, and thin wispy clouds above informed him that he would likely see a storm before the sun rose again...he had been told by his father as a cub that those thin strands of cloud were frequently followed by storm clouds. glancing over his shoulder he growled "How are you feeling?"...

The lioness growled, " good, my leg is starting to get better, I think the pain should be gone soon." She turned her head towards the sky, and watched the clouds slowly glide in the reddening sky. A harmless snake slithered on the ground, hissed at the two lions, then moved along the river bank.

"Good to know" growled Nightbane, pleased at the news. he spent several minutes simply enjoying the peace, the sound of insects making chittering sounds in the undergrowth, the chirps of birds moving between the surroundings trees, and the distant calls of some monkeys making a natural musical orchestra. meanwhile, the water shimmered with liquid fire, the reflection of the orange afternoon sun swirling and rippling on the river's surface. a rocky part of the riverbed a short distance away caused the water to foam, greating a rich, light orange wisp over the water's surface, as below him, the sillhouettes of small fish could be seen zipping to and fro, searching for food on the riverbed. after a while of silence, he glanced over to the lioness. "Any friends you can remember making recently, before you found us?" he growled, conscern in his tone, as if uncertain of his choice of topic...

"About none, the only other animals i've known besides you and Redtail so far was my original pride, and that dead snake," Red replied with a grunt, partly joking. She watched as the sun slowly set in the distance, listening to the howls of mammals, chirps of birds and insects, and the calls of other animals in the area. That seemingly harmless snake came passing by again, hissing at the two lions, then slithering off into the thick weeds.

"ah" responded Nightbane somewhat surprised. "Well...unless you decide to leave, you have a place with me" growled Nightbane with a smile as he glanced towards where the snake went, somewhat annoyed at the snake's persistence, the Lion clawing at a fair sized rock near one of his paws...

"I'd rather stay with you, cause I know I can trust you, unlike other lions," the lioness growled. The little snake's head was peeping out of the weeds on the ground, searching for a small rodent to hunt. A enormous eagle was soaring over the river as Red Claw glanced at it. To Red, the day had seemed like it passed by too quickly. She had been up the whole day, yet, the sun seemed like it shot by like a bullet train. A small fish was leaping in and out of the water, so, Red waited for it to get close, she suddenly clamped her jaws down in the fish's spine, killing it instantly, and started to chew on it. She was starting to grow hungry, and wanted to grab a small meal from the area, in this case, a fish. Half of the scaly creature slid out of her mouth, and slumped to the grassy floor with a thud. She saved that un touched piece of fish for Nightbane to eat, thinking he was growing hungry as well.

surprised by the catch, Nightbane accepted the piece of fish left over. personally, he would've used his paw to swat the fish out of the water, as it gave him better reach. but considering how close the creature was, he supposed it was convenient. he wasn't particularly hungry after the kill he made earlier, but there was no harm in another small snack. using his paw to turn it so the tail faced away from him, he picked it up and swallowed it whole. "I'm flattered you think so highly of me" he growled...

"I care for those I know, just like I did with my wounded brother, before he died in the grassy plains from his suffering caused by those stampeding wildabeasts," Red Claw had grunted. She was generious to any other creatures she knew and could trust. Another giant eagle came gliding by, over both of the lions, cawing as it had spotted the two. It did a sudden turn back to the way it came, realizing the lions could be a threat.

Nightbane lowered his head, as if in mourning to the loss of the lion. giving the discussino time to cool, he growled "Well....you've given me the pleasure of knowing about you...you have the right to know more about me". laying on his side as he looked at the Lioness, he growled "So....ask away"...

"Well, how did you get kicked out of your pride anyways?" Red Claw grunted, wanting to know more about why his family had refused to let him live with them. She looked at Nightbane in silence, waiting for a answer.

"Well...My pride was fairly small, but powerful. My father, Shujaa, was a good leader....but failed to see the threat of his own sons. he expected them to remain loyal to him, because of how he had taken care of them. how he'd raised them. there were four of us. I was the second eldest. the eldest brother, Shadow, turned on him. My father was weak of age and didn't have the strength to overpower him. my littermates, Kubwa and Jino, looked up to Shadow more than they did me. so when he ousted my father and took control of the pride, they supported him, while i opposed. I knew i wasn't strong enough to beat all three of them at the time, and they didn't like the risk i posed to their new domain. so i was driven out with my father. i haven't forgiven them for killing our younger siblings...the cubs, all the young cubs in the pride, they killed off. my father died of his injuries a few days later" growled Nightbane, his eyes seeming somewhat distant, losing their piercing gaze, as the Lion thought back to that day...

Listening to this had made Red Claw think her life was as normal as Nightbane's. No family or friends around you, nothing but a terrible past, witnessing your OWN family getting killed and not knowing if any of your own flesh and blood is still alive. "Well, do you know if any of your family besides your trecherous bretheren are still alive?" Red growled.

"No idea" growled Nightbane somewhat sadly. something, a scent, drifted on the breeze, but what it was, he couldn't tell. ignoring it he continued. "But maybe it's better i don't know. saves me from the sorrow of knowing if they have died" he added...

Red Claw didn't ask any further questions, and started to gulp down some water from the river. Another rat was scurrying along the plains, suddenly stopping, it stood on it's rear paws, looked up at the mighty beasts, and rushed off into the thick weeds, frightened by their sheer size, only to be caught by that annoying snake. A crocodile swam by in the river, possibly hungry, causing Red to jolt her head out of the water. She watched as the croc slowly floated in the shallow water, realizing it hadn't seen her or Nightbane. "I'm gonna patrol the area near this area for any predators and threats to us," Red suddenly grunted. She used to patrol the perimeter of her territory with her father, usually attacking small carnivores that were a threat too all of her younger siblings.

Red Claw agreed with a sharp growl as she started to move along the river bank, cautiously wtaching the area for any carnivorous creatures roaming the area. As she moved along, she was wondering what Redtail was up too.

Nightbane walked onwards, the scent he picked up earlier getting stronger. it was a lion...an old one...
