"Maybe" growled Nguvu with a reassuring smile, happy that they were able to resolve this near-disaster. thank you Night he thought. he walked forward and around Amani, before turning back to face the jungle. placing himself between Amani and Uzuri he growled "Let's go. Poor little Lusa's worried out of her pelt over you"...

Uzuri started back the way they'd come, hearing another howl echo from that direction.

Nguvu walked forward towards the cave, steadily making his way back, thinking over what had just happened.....it all seemed surreal to him at this point. had it really happened so quickly? how did they manage to settle it? at the moment, he didn't care. he just knew that it was over....and hopefully....it'd never happen again. looking up, the Lion spotted the cave in the distance through the trees and bushes...
"Hey Jino....hear that?" growled Kubwa as he heard the howl. "Yeah.....i could never get used to that.....wolf howls....they send a chill up my spine" answered Jino. Kubwa grunted in agreement. after a while he growled "Hey Jino.....Do you ever think about what Nguvu said back there? Ever wondered that Shadow might not be all right afterall? I mean sure....he's just doing what's natural for a lion in a pride...but still...Shujaa gave us a better life than any other cubs i've ever come across in any pride...he really believed in our potential" growled Kubwa, his tone thoughtful. "Your stomach must be empty Kubwa, you're starting with the crazy talk again. Shadow's given us the kind of life no other male lion EVER gives his brothers. he's building what Shujaa wanted the right way. It's why we're following him in the first place. afterall, remember when he said he was going to give us each prides of our own once we had learned enough from him, and have all three move as one? THAT is a plan that even Shujaa couldn't think of pulling off" growled Jino in response. "Yeah...i guess.....We didn't have to be that cruel to our family about it though. Shujaa wasn't stupid. If Shadow had gone to him with the plan he'd probably agree" responded Kubwa. "Have you forgotten him, Kubwa? Our father loved power. in his later days all he did was sit there, eat the lionesses' kills and tell us what to do. he wouldn't've given Shadow the freedom to do that. he'd likely have driven him out. Nguvu and him. they'd've been too strong for Shadow and he'd be forced out. it's why Shadow trusted us with his plan. he knew that Nguvu was too far gone. he believed Shujaa completely. Shadow knew he needed us and that we could achieve greatness together, but that Nguvu couldn't be trusted" responded Jino. Kubwa fell silent, unable to respond....or perhaps unwilling to expose his doubt too much. his mind had been settled. he'd stop Jino from killing Nguvu....whatever the cost...

Night howled once more for good measure, holding the note for as long as she could, then turned back to Lusa. "I'm sure they'll be back soon," she growled, trying to reassure the confused and frightened pup.

It wasn't long before Nguvu pushed the bushes aside, walking out with Uzuri and Amani, a grateful glance directed at the wolf as he ascended to the cave entrance...

Night dipped her head in return as a bouncing black fuzzball came hurtling out of the cave and crashed into Uzuri, taking the lioness by surprise. "You're back! I thought you all left again," she yipped happily, tail wagging faster than Night had ever seen it go before. Uzuri chuckled as Lusa turned to give Nguvu the same enthusiastic greeting.

Lusa turned and bounced over to Amani, tail still wagging, as Uzuri moved to the kill to have a few mouthfuls. She could see Lusa hadn't done much damage to the body, and Night had taken a few big mouthfuls of her own.

"Suit yourself" growled Nguvu, before walking over to the kill and grabbing ahold of one plump leg, ripping a massive portion of the thigh muscle in one bite, wetting the crusted bloody layer on his lips again as he began to eat...

"Ok ok Lusa, what do you want to do while Nightbane and Uzuri eat some of the kill?" growled Amani, looking at the excited pup. "Could we also do something besides catching mice? Unless nothing comes to mind, of course..." the lioness continued, watching Lusa's tail wag as she started to smile from her enjoyment of the trio coming back. "Nightbane, just save me a leg for later!" Amani rumbled, glancing towards the entrance of the cave.

"Hmmm...." Lusa looked around for something to do. The cliff itself caught her eye. "Race you to the top!" she barked suddenly, dashing towards the base of the cliff and starting to clamber on uop of a boulder much bigger than she was. Using small cracks as footholds, she hauled herself up and started climbing the path she knew so well. Night, seeing the pup start to climb, turned to watch.

Amani started to race behind the pup, and easily leapt onto the boulder as she was running along the path. "Hey, wait up, Lusa! You don't want to get attacked by something out here!" she growled as she started to catch up to the energentic pup, still a little bit ahead of her.

Meanwhile, Jino and Kubwa had headed South, where the woods became thicker and the elevation higher, the air cooler. there were many streams and rivers in this part of the area, all coming from a mountainous region filled with springs. and here....was where their companion lived. Kuruk. thanks to the fact that a certain incident involving a trio of leopards that had decided they wanted the bear's territory, something that they almost achieved were it not for Shadow's attack and intervention, had made the bear vow to repay Shadow for the help one day, they now had a very powerful weapon. the bear had been weak when he was attacked, ill from a poisonous berry that he had eaten amidst the rest of his usual food. but at other times, the bear had a reputation for ruthlessness that was almost unmatched in this area. his numerous battlescars were trophies of his victories over rivals, and the skeletons of several other bears could be seen lying around the area, stripped clean by the especially carnivorous, cannibalistic kodiak bear. the thought of getting on it's bad side made Jino shudder. he had seen the scrapes of toothmarks in some of the skulls he found in the area, and the damage done to trees by the bear's claws sent a chill down his spine whenever he imagined flesh in the place of the bark. he knew that Nguvu didn't stand a chance against the bear...and with a bit of luck....Jino would finally get the attention he so desperately craved from his brother Shadow...

Lusa leaped from boulder to boulder, her legs not yet long enough to manage the jumps Night could make, but just long enough to make the jumps that she needed to to get to the top.

Amani leaped onto the boulder closest to Lusa, still trying to keep behind the adrenaline pumped pup. She kept close behind her as possible, not wanting to really win the race anyways. The main reason she stayed close behind her was that so she could keep a eye on her just in case something tried attacking her. "You know Lusa, doing all of this can easily help you become a better hunter when your older," growled Amani, still close behind the wolf.
