"Sorry about starting off like that. Just haven't seen any wolves around here since my family abandoned me a few years ago. Anyways, my name is Sharp Claw," Sharp rumbled, starting to become a little shy. "Being a loner can cause a lot of stuff to happen to your mind, and I think you saw that it caused me to care to much about myself," the male rumbled, angered at himself and his family because of the effects of being alone for years.

Amani kept close behind Nguvu, and snapped at any of the lionesses seeming to close to her. "Looks like your sisters almost completly forgot about you, Nguvu," Amani growled, glancing at both of his sisters, keeping her average pace.

What could have happened to these lionesses? Uzuri wondered, even as she growled, "What a way to be greeted." What was so bad that they lost all trust in all males?

Night gave a grunt. "Night is the name I was given," she growled. "And I've probably been on my own for longer than you have." She bent her neck to pick Lusa up by her scruff, to sounds of protest from the pup. "Quiet, pup. Time to start looking for that better cave I promised you." The white wolf started off along the top of the cliff, scanning for caves or cracks that looked promising.

Sharp Claw stayed close behind Night and her pup, cautiously watching the area for any predators nearby. "I'll just stay with them for a while, they may not be able to survive alone forever with that bear still roaming around," Sharp thought to himself, standing guard for Night and her pup. "Well Night, what's your pup's name, anyways?" the male growled, looking at the child and Night.

"Yeah," replied Amani, looking back to her sister. She kept herself in between Uzuri and Nguvu as the trio walked on with the pride of lionesses, all staying behind Nguvu's sisters, who were leading the group.

"I'm Lusa," the pup piped up when Night seemed not to hear.

"Oh," Sharp rumbled, looking at the black pup. "Maybe that cave over there would be a nice spot for a home?" he continued, looking at a fairly large sized hole in the side of the cliff, from his angle, it looked like it was a long tunnel, with some possibly smaller entrances.

Nguvu kept silent, deciding not to test his luck with the lionesses. many of them seemed to be new. or at least, not from his time with the pride. he didn't see any more of his sisters.....something which conscerned him...

It wasn't long before the lionesses halted. "Why is there a male in our territory, Shani?" snarled an older sounding lioness. "He's one of our brothers, Maiara" growled Shani. "Is that not enough incentive to kill him rather than bring him to the center of our territory? or have you forgotten what they did last time they were here?" growled Maiara, only seeing the edges of the lion's mane, Shani and Sitiri obscuring her view. "See for yourself, mother" responded Shani calmly as she stepped aside, Maiara's eyes widening. "It can't be.....Shujaa? Is that....?" she growled, emotion filling the once cold voice of the female as she rose to her feet, 4 lionesses around her stepping aside as she stepped forward. "No, mother......Father didn't live long after being forced out.....the injuries....and the weight of his heart...led to his end" growled Nguvu sadly. Shujaa lowered her head. "I suppose it was too much to ask for a lion his age to still be alive.....especially after all this time......Nguvu....you've grown so much" she growled as she walked forward, nuzzling her son. quiet murmurs broke out amongst the lionesses when they heard the lion's name. Maiara had spoken repeatedly of the young lion whose bravery and loyalty were unmatched. the One Loyal Son of Shujaa. the one who had been driven out with his father when Shadow took power. "Uzuri, Amani....This is Maiara. And this.....is my pride" growled Nguvu, looking around. Maiara lowered her head in respect to the two lionesses, the others in the pride soon doing the same...

Night gave the spot a glance and noncommittal grunt. She put Lusa down to speak. "I've been in there once or twice. The whole thing is unstable. A sneeze might be enough to make it collapse." Picking up the black furball again, she continued along the top of the cliff, going further and further from her old den.

Uzuri lowered her head in return. "Pleasure to meet you all," she growled.

"Ah. Probally a good reason why nothing lives in there," Sharp Claw growled with a smirk. He added on with a bark, "how about that one over there? It appears to be more stable," glancing over towards a smaller, more heavily built cave.

Amani looked around in silence, a little confused over why the lionesses were bowing down to her and Uzuri. But she lowered her head to the ground shortly after her sister had, trying to be respectful to Nguvu's pride.

"Not big enough," Night growled through her mouthful of fur. "No room to turn around in there. Too easy to get trapped in."

"Maybe the one under it?" Sharp rumbled, looking at a average sized cave, seeming wide and tall enough for movent, and stable enough to be called a home. "It looks pretty suitable for a pack of wolves or a pair of lions to live in. And seems pretty sturdy," the wolf growled, looking at Lusa and Night, waiting for a response.

"In any other circumstances it would be ideal," Night growled. "But I want a cave high enough on the cliff that the bear couldn't get to it without some real difficulty." Maybe we'll end up staying at the top, she thought. And ordinarily that'd be fine too. But Lusa's still small...she'd get sick quickly when it rained.

"Well, there aren't much more options for the good caves to use as homes. and the bad ones aren't much use, even though they have some advantages against the bear," Sharp Claw growled, looking at Night and her pup. "I bet if we keep looking though, we might find a cave that nothing larger than a antelope could get through, that is also strong and has good space in it," the male barked, reassuringly to the female wolves ahead of him...

Night grunted, continuing along the clifftop. Lusa gave a wriggle, wanting to be put down, and was ignored.

"What happened to you, mother? Where are the rest of my sisters? what happened to our pride?" he growled in conscern. "Maovu....that's what happened" growled Maiara sadly. " After you were driven out, Maovu took full control of the pride. for several weeks, we were driven to hunt more than normal, Kubwa, Jino and Maovu eating more than their fair share and threatening anyone who challenged them with death. Jino and Maovu, at least. Kubwa seemed to behave in silence. as if he was not truely happy with what had happened. Maovu killed every male cub in the pride in an effort to prevent Shujaa's sons from posing a threat to him in the future. Jino ruined several of our hunts in an attempt to impress Maovu, successfully starving half of us to death in the process before he was stopped. Maovu killed several of the older females in the pride in an effort to cut down the pride's consumption so he would have food for himself. and at the end of that, Maovu started demanding insane things of the pride. he ordered the pride to hunt down an elephant that had made it's way into our territory. a lone bull. we challenged the order, but he struck me, knocking me out, and apparently used me as leverage to make my daughters listen" explained Maiara, noting Nguvu's expression had changed from that of conscern to one of anger, his lips curled up, his massive teeth bared as a low rumble began to eminate from the lion. "And what happened?" he growled in a forced calm. "Half the remaining lionesses were killed by the bull before it was brought down....several of my daughters among them" sighed Maiara. "We forced Maovu out after that, and would have killed him and the other two if they hadn't escaped across the border and into the jungle. since then i've lead the pride" explained Maiara finally. "I'm going to kill him. I'm going to skin him alive, then feed him to the hyenas" snarled Nguvu with a cold fury that he'd never believed he could ever feel. turning, he moved towards the border, Maiara stopping him. "Don't do the same to the other two. I've been watching Kubwa. he regrets his actions. the only reason he follows Maovu now is because he has no other choice. leaving him would get him killed. Jino only does what he does because he seeks recognition. he's a fool, but he's not evil" she growled, pleading for the two younger ones' lives. "If they try and stop me, i'll kill them as well. Evil or not. They did this to their family. Now they'll pay for it" snarled Nguvu firmly as he continued onwards...

"This is as far as i go. Find him. lure him back. and i will wait" rumbled Kuruk as he reached the edge of the jungle. the scorching sun was not something the bear was equipped to handle, and the exhaustion that would come from fighting in that heat would put him at a disadvantage. he wanted to make sure there would be no mistakes. after today, he didn't ever want to see Shadow or his brothers again. "Alright. Come on, Kubwa. let's go find our dear old brother" growled Jino with a cackle as he moved onwards after the scent...

"So where do we go from here?" Uzuri growled as she followed Nguvu, hatred coiling in her gut as she replayed the story of what had happened in her mind. She wanted nothing less than to get her claws into Shadow's pelt and skin him alive. She wasn't normally a sadistic lioness, but after what he'd done...he deserved it.

"Straight back to Maovu's pride" rumbled Nguvu coldly as he walked onwards, the lionesses stepping aside for him, some overjoyed that Maovu was going to finally pay for what he'd done, others simply startled by the sheer fury that they could see in the lion's emerald green eyes. in the distance, two lions, having run after the scent, stood watching, heads barely over a hill just inside the pride's border. "Jino. go to Kuruk and make sure he's ready" growled Kubwa, seeing his chance. "What? Since when did you start giving orders?" retorted Jino. "You idiot, you're faster than me. you'll get to him before i would. gives you more time to prepare" growled Kubwa, hating the fact he was right but needing to make himself time to warn Nguvu. "Ugh....fine. but this time i get YOUR share of the food" retorted Jino. Kubwa looked at him, an irritated look on his face. "Fine, fine. You're not laying a claw on mine though!" grumbled Jino before turning and running off, soon disappearing behind a hill. once Kubwa was sure he was out of sight and earshot, he rushed forward to warn his brother...

Uzuri, scanning their surroundings, suddenly tensed. "Heads up - we've got company," she growled, her gaze fixed on the approaching lion.

Amani kept close to Nguvu and Uzuri, anger and hatred towards Shadow building up in her body, preparing to seek revenge on him for what he had done to Nguvu's family and pride. She looked back towards his pride, seeing the lionesses, his mother, and his two sisters watching them leave. She suddenly looked forward from listening to her sister, only to see another lion come rushing towards them.

Sharp Claw had a steady pace as he stayed next to the two wolfs, guarding them if anything decided to attack them, or worse. "If that bear comes along again, I'll be the first taking it on, it would at very least allow Night and Lusa escape, though it is just pure suicide," Sharp thought with a small amount of anger in his eyes, recalling what had just happened a few moments ago at Night's and Lusa's cave...

Nguvu let out a low snarl as he spotted Kubwa coming towards him. So Maovu tried to stop me he thought as he walked forward, fangs bared as he snarled at the lion. "Get out of my way Kubwa or i'll rip your head off right now" he snarled fiercely, Kubwa actually skidding to a hault and taking a step back. "Nguvu, wait!" he growled, eyes wide. "I said, out of my WAY" roared Nguvu as he swung a clawed paw into the lion, sending his head whipping to the site, Kubwa stumbling backwards, dazed by the blow. "Nguvu....wait.....There's....an ambush" growled Kubwa, Nguvu stopping, looking back at the lion. "Oh sure. scaring me out of heading for Maov-" responded Nguvu, being cut off by the younger lion. "LISTEN TO ME, NGUVU!" roared Kubwa, blood beginning to seep down the side of his face from where the claws hit. Nguvu's eyes narrowed at the lion. "Maovu....sent Jino and I....to kill you. Jino's got a BEAR with him....I've had it with Maovu. I can't take living with him anymore! the guilt of what i've helped him do to our family is tearing me apart. please....Nguvu...help me make it right...help me pay for what i've done...help me make up for what's been done to our family" growled Kubwa, lowering his head, begging Nguvu's forgiveness. The older lion looked down at his brother, remembering his mother's words. "...Nguvu....I don't want to see any more of my family get killed because of Maovu's thirst for power...let me help you....please" he growled. Nguvu snarled lowly. "You'd best hope you're not lying to me, Kubwa, or I swear i'll rip you apart along with Maovu" rumbled the lion before he began to walk forward. "Nguvu...they're waiting up ahead...in the jungle" growled Kubwa. "In that case...lead me to them. We'll target the bear" rumbled Nguvu. he didn't want to set himself up to be hit from behind by going around. he would face the enemy head on. Kubwa lowered his head, knowing that Nguvu could not be persuaded otherwise in this state, and walked ahead of them...

Uzuri followed, casting an uncertain glance at Kubwa. Should they really take his word? He seemed honest enough, but...if he was leading them into a trap...she cut that thought off and walked on silently.
