"I'm not exactly sure if we can trust him Nguvu. We shuld give him a week or so to prove himself first," Amani growled, glancing over to Nguvu.

"Well, I guess this is where I say goodbye," Sharp Claw barked to the two female wolves behind him, before turning back, starting to walk back the way the trio had come. "I'll stop by some time later to check up on them," Sharp had thought to himself, continuing to trot down the cliff...

"Amani's got a good idea," Uzuri growled. "But I say make it two weeks, to see if he's serious about sticking to his words."

Night watched the male leave for a minute before turning to explore the cave.

Nguvu made a low growl, thoughtful. he glanced at Kubwa, who simply nodded. "Whatever it takes" he growled, firm in his decision. "Very well. Kubwa, you have two weeks to prove yourself" growled Nguvu. Kubwa simply nodded. "Thank you for giving me a chance, Nguvu. I'll do my best to make sure you don't regret it" growled the lion. Nguvu glanced at the lionesses. "Maovu's known for exploiting weaknesses wherever he finds them. We'll need to give ourselves time to recover before we make our move" growled Kubwa. Nguvu thought about it. he was right. It was how Maovu beat their father despite the fact Shujaa was considerably more powerful than his son. he exploited an old injury in one of his arms to make him fall when he tried to strike the younger lion. "If You'd allow me, i suggest we head to the pride and make sure Jino listened to what he was told. it'll also give me the chance to apologise to the rest of my family....If you would allow it" growled Kubwa. Nguvu remained neutral, deciding to let the lionesses decide...

"After he can prove himself to us," Amani growled, looking at Kubwa. She glanced over towards her sister, and decided to wait for her decision on what to do with Kubwa and his and Nguvu's old pride.

Sharp Claw continued off towards the jungle, heading back to his ditch in the dense forest. The wolf suddenly stopped, "Good bye, Night and Lusa," Sharp growled, looking back towards the two one last time, before finally heading back down the cliff. "I'll see them again in a few days," he rumbled to himself, troting along the cliff's edge...

Nguvu thought it over. waiting around would give Jino more of a head start if he decided to try and run back to Maovu, and whatever the case, they weren't going after Maovu now. they needed time to recover. Nguvu's injury would be targetted by Maovu when they fought, and chances are what began as a superficial scratch would turn into a permanent, crippling injury. after some thought, he decided. "We'll go to the pride. but i warn you Kubwa...if you turn out to be lying...you WILL be torn apart" growled Nguvu. Kubwa lowered his head in gratitude and respect of Nguvu's decision. "As i said. I'll make sure you don't regret it...even if it costs me my life" responded Kubwa. Nguvu grunted, satisfied for now, before heading onwards, Kubwa at his side, nervous of how his mother and sisters would react to his return...

The white lioness wasn't far behind, paws making nearly no sound as she padded onward.

Amani stayed at the rear of the group, cautiously watching behind them. She felt a small object run along her foot as she stopped, to watch a bird fly overhead, before continuing on with the rest of the group towards Nguvu's and Kubwa's pride...

it wasn't long before the reached the edge of the territory. Nguvu made a low roar to warn them of his arrival. before long Sitiri and 4 other lionesses came towards them, eying Kubwa. "Did Jino arrive recently?" growled Nguvu. "Yes....He's with Maiara at the moment....what happened?" growled Sitiri, noting the injury on Nguvu's arm. "Maovu sent a bear with Jino and Kubwa to try and kill me before i reached you....Kubwa helped fight it off...though how likely this is to be a trick remains to be seen" rumbled Nguvu, Kubwa lowering his head sadly, though remaining silent. they had every right to be suspicious. "Well....Maiara will want to see Kubwa....though to be honest they're lucky the pride respects her wishes so much. otherwise we'd've likely have simply ripped them apart" responded Sitiri. she turned and lead them to Maiara for the second time that day, the lionesses with her surrounding Kubwa...

"I see the other half of the terrible twosome has arrived" rumbled Maiara as she eyed Kubwa and Nguvu. at her feet, Jino lay, covered in injuries by the pride, though none of them were severe enough to leave a lasting mark...except for one that Nguvu noticed on the lion's face, 4 diagonal gashes going across his face from the right down to the left, glancing off the end of the snout. the lion was unconscious. "Mother..." growled Kubwa as he stepped forward, only to be cut off by Sitiri and Shani, both of them snarling coldly. Kubwa lowered his head, almost to the ground, in submission. "I'm sorry........for everything" he growled. Maiara walked forward, the two lionesses stepping aside for her, her firm emotionless expression softening somewhat. "You've done much to hurt the pride, Kubwa" she growled, Kubwa nodding. "I know mother.......i know" he growled solemnly. "Many lives were lost because of your support for your brother. You know this, do you not?" she continued. "I do" he growled lowly. "And you understand that we can never forgive what you've done. am i right?" she continued. "Yes.....I Do" he growled. "So then, Kubwa....what do you propose we do?" she growled. Kubwa looked up, sadness in his eyes. "Whatever you wish....If you wish to punish me in blood...so be it. If you wish for me to live alone, isolated from everyone else for as long as i live....so be it. If you wish to do to me as you intend to do to Jino..or have already done....i offer myself to you...do to me as you see fit...more than that...double, or triple, or as much as it takes...whatever it takes...If only to please you...and the rest of the pride. I have fully deserved whatever fate you see fit" he growled lowly. Maiara's eyes widened, surprised at the lion's words. "Brave of you, Kubwa....very brave. the pain your loyalty to Maovu has inflicted on the pride could cost you a fate so horrible death would be a release in comparison...especially at the claws of the pride who have suffered so much" growled the matriarch. "I have one condition, though" he growled, Maiara's surprise evident in her eyes. "And that would be?" she growled. "That i live through it in order to fulfill my promise to Nguvu....to stand at his side 5 days for every one i stood at Maovu's" he growled. those words surprised the lioness, and it was evident it had surprised the others in the pride as well. Maiara looked up at Nguvu, who simply nodded, confirming what Kubwa had said. "Well then....the price for your redemption...will be to go with Nguvu...defeat Maovu....and drag him, dead or alive....to me. After that, I will decide if you've earned our forgiveness. his current pride will be left as they are.....If Nguvu sees fit to claim that pride as his own, then that will be their fate. otherwise...they'll be left to live on their own until they find a new lion to lead them" growled Maiara finally. Kubwa lowered his head in gratitude. "I'll fulfill the promise...even if i die in the process" he growled. "None of you are going after him now. Until you've recovered from your injuries, you're still very much at risk if you fight him" growled Maiara. Nguvu nodded, and Kubwa bowed his head lowly. "We recently brought down a buffalo. there's still enough left for you four to eat" she growled as she glanced to her left, Nguvu following her gaze to see a half eaten buffalo lying a few dozen feet away. Kubwa nodded, bowing respectfully to his sisters, before slinking towards the kill, head held low, showing his submission to the pride as he headed for the kill...

"He has courage to match the bravest lions," Uzuri rumbled, watching Kubwa go before turning back to her sister and Nguvu. "Bravery enough to turn his back on Maovu and Jino; disgusting as those two are, they're still his kin."

"He is one of the most couragous lions I have met so far, seeing how he had betrayed his own flesh and blood to save his second eldest brother," Amani growled, replying to her sister as she glanced over to Nguvu, then towards her sister. She started to head over towards the dead buffalo, bowing her head in respect to Nguvu's pride as she did so.

the lionesses nodded in respect to Amani, before splitting up, a group of 5, led by Shani, headed out for a patrol, while the others lay down to rest in the mid-day sun. "What'll happen to Jino?" growled Nguvu as he watched them leave, turning his attention to the scratched up lion on the ground. "He passed out from the pain fairly quickly. held down and clawed by the pride for a few minutes. we're not going to leave any deep injuries...we don't want to kill him. but his punishment's only just started. Unlike Kubwa, Jino's still convinced that Maovu is right. his idea, at least. he didn't show anything near the respect Kubwa has. and the fact he refused to apologise for the incident that killed several of his sisters doubled his punishment. he will indure similar clawing for at least a day. he needs to feel the collective pain of the pride. only then will he understand what Maovu has done to us. after that...we will speak to him....and show him sense" growled Maiara. Nguvu nodded. "I honestly don't wish to hurt my own son....but the pride must be satisfied. they must be compensated for what's been done to them. and i stand by their side in that" growled Maiara, Nguvu nodding. "I understand perfectly. You are a brilliant leader. i don't think i could do as good a job" he growled. Maiara shook her head. "You've learned most of what Shujaa had to teach you, and you've always been the fairest of your brothers. you were our pride and joy. Shujaa had great plans for you...You were to be his second, rather than Maovu growled the lioness. Nguvu nodded. "He told me that after we had been forced out....but i was never sure if it was just his attempt to ease the pain he felt at the betrayal, or whether it was true" he growled. "Oh no. He was considering it long before Maovu turned on him" growled Maiara. "I don't suppose i could persuade you to come back and lead the pride?" she inquired. Nguvu lowered his head. "I'm sorry...but I like the freedom of my life....with a pride i'd be bound to a territory, and it'd just cut my life short with the challengers" he explained. Maiara nodded. "And that's the one thing Shujaa knew he could never change in you....your love for freedom" she explained with a smile. "Was i really so transparent?" he growled. "No....Shujaa was just really good at reading the characters of others. their personalities" responded Maiara. "Now...enough talking. go eat. I'm sure you and Uzuri are hungry after today's events." growled Maiara with a smile, eying the two almost knowingly. Nguvu glanced at Uzuri. "Shall we?"...

Nguvu smiled, before heading forward. Maiara watched them go, a small smile of what could be pride on her face. "You think they're...?" started Sitiri, not continuing the sentence. "Definately" responded Maiara with a smile, before lying down with a yawn...

"Hey, a little warning for you, Uzuri. While we're eating stick close. keep as far as possible from Kubwa. he's a voracious eater. more than once i lost a portion of my share because of eating next to him and getting distracted" growled Nguvu as he walked towards the kill, keeping his voice down so Kubwa, who was taking massive chunks out of the leg of the water buffalo, wouldn't hear...

Amani started to tear away at average sized chunks of flesh and meat out of the neck, almost completly filling her stomach, causing her hunger to leave her body. She started to walk over towards the pride, stopped short, and laid down to rest in the grass just below her. "If we can trust Kubwa, will he be my mate?" Amani thought to herself, looking over towards the three, eating the remains of the buffalo...

Nguvu walked around the kill, ripping into the chest and fore legs of the buffalo, a fair amount of room left for Uzuri, the lion moving over to give her room, before digging into the kill properly, hungry from the day's events, Kubwa shuffling over a bit more to give them a fair amount of room...

Uzuri sank her teeth into the kill, eating quickly with smaller, neat bites. It was a habit she'd picked up after finding herself lost and alone, separated from Amani and their brother. Eat as fast as you can without making yourself sick, and don't hang around if hyenas or other lions show up.

Nguvu rose from his spot, digging into the stomach of the water buffalo in search of his favourite part. a growl of satisfaction came from him, the lion pulling out a half eaten liver. undoubtedly the other half had been taken by his mother earlier. he pinned it down with one paw and ripped it in half with his jaws, giving one half to Uzuri while he held his own half down, before continuing to eat, ripping into his half of the liver. Kubwa meanwhile, had mostly skeletonised the water buffalo's leg, despite it's size, staying true to his reputation....

Uzuri let out a purr of thanks, pinning down her share of the liver as she began to eat it. The rich flavor that seeped into her mouth almost made her let out a pleased growl.
