Rapture raised his head, surprised that he was now the subject of the conversation. "Not much to tell. Your past is a hard act to follow." he growled, trying to lighten the mood...

"I found that out the hard way." Fury growled, shifting uncomfortably as he remembered the sting that put him to sleep..

Thorn cracked a smile. "I guess it is," he growled. "The stories are more tangled up than wild ivy. What's your name?"

"Rapture." the Lili growled with a slight nod.

"How many times have I crossed a giant...twice?" Aircrest thought as he swiftly moved through the quick undergrowth. "...A few times, Im sure" He stopped behind a large brown rock, pressing up against its jagged and hard surface. He looked around the boulder, trying to find the old Tyrannosaur that called this part of the jungle her home. She was nowhere to be seen, though her overwhelming scent lingered all around the area. "Though I dont recall a time where I was heading back through a giant's turf. Definitely not telling Hazel about this" He shot off again, plunging back through the bushes, leaves rustling softly. After a few minutes of running through the brush, he hissed to himself "Where the hell did she go?!" By now he could hear the river beyond the trees. "Is she ignoring me or something? Could I just walk out of this place?!" He wondered. A nearby roar, however, made him think otherwise. He picked up the pace, though he was careful to not trip over any of the fallen timber that littered the jungle floor

"Seems we all did" he growled. "What have you been doing in the past few years?" growled the Patriarch as he tilted his head to one side, gesturing for Fury to start walking, the Rex wanting to start solidifying his ownership of the territory with a border patrol...

"Not much. Life's been...difficult...after what happened..." Fury growled, walking after the larger Rex, trailing off as he remembered his family...

Aircrest shot out of the plant line, leaving a bunch of leaves fluttering to the ground behind him. He slowed to a trot after he cleared the Rex's territory, panting heavilly. Ahead of him laid the gray fog, and the sound of crashing water was loud. He walked over the river's edge, being wary of the incline and wet rocks that lined it. He then dipped his snout into the fast moving water, taking a quick drink. He'd rest a little before trying to scale the cliff face and making the trip back towards the coast after

"Have you tried to get a territory yet or have you just been roaming?" growled Crusher as he walked, picking up the scent of his family ahead. they were upwind of him, so they couldn't smell him...

Hazel slipped into her den nestled amongst the tree roots, moving down it until she came to the far end of the burrow. She placed her ferns on the ground, spreading them out but making sure they overlapped a little. Once she was happy with the base, she turned around and headed back to the entrance. She growled to Selena "Hey, can you pass the rest of those ferns down here?" as she poked her head out from the den, looking up at the mutant look alike

Fury shook his head. "There's no point. I've been wandering from territory to territory, occasionally dealing with the owners, though I never take it for myself. Personal decision on my part." he growled, a few particularly large scars on his body the result of such encounters...

chomper awoke opening his eyes slowly and stirring the dirt in front of his snout with each breath. He stumbled to his feet in amazement at what surrounded him "wh...wh..what, the island" finally he was home.

With his energy back, Aircrest started to make the trip towards the roaring waterfall, barely able to see a few feet ahead of him because of the misty cover. Soon enough, he came up to the rock outcrops that he used to get down the cliff. The only thing now was going up...without slipping off the wet platforms and falling into the torrenting water just a few feet away. Aircrest took a deep breath before hoisting himself onto the first outcrop, claws scraping against the rock as he tried to find his footing. Once he regained his balance, he stood up on the rock and aimed himself at the next one a few feet up. His leg's contracted, and with a powerful kick he launched up onto the rock, making sure to land in a crouch to reduce the chance of sliding.

Crusher grunted in response, but said nothing, continuing on in silence as he began to reclaim the territory. not long after that, the trees ahead swayed, and Rampage appeared, Hunter, Lightning and Serena in tow. "Why didn't you call us?" growled the female curiously. "Because i can't guarantee i'm finished yet. more challengers could be on their way here. Didn't want to put you in harm's way" explained Crusher with a smile. "Maybe you should let us help protect the territory. afterall, it's ours" responded Rampage. Crusher shrugged. "You know i can't bare to see one of my family hurt" he responded. Rampage sighed. "Hey Fury! it's been a while" growled Hunter with a smirk as he stepped out behind his mother. Serena ran up to her father, curling herself around his foot, earning a small chuckle from the Rex. Lightning kept quiet, eying the Rex curiously. a son of Crusher's? couldn't be. his scent was vastly different, as was his appearance. but then, why were they so friendly towards him?

Fatalis lay silently, listening to his packmates. he would probably lead a hunt soon. he was starting to feel hungry as well, and with the sun slowly descending, they would be able to make use of the darkness. their eyes were well adapted to seeing in the dark, unlike most of the prey in this area...but for now, he sat silently, raising his head and adjusting his position so that he was resting on his flank, his eyes scanning the cave for the others...

Rhojis paused, gathering his thoughts. Lowering his voice so his words wouldn't echo around the cave, he hissed all in one breath, "What if you knew something that you were sure would hurt someone close to you if you told them, but you had no choice but to tell them because the longer you waited, the worse it would get for you both, especially if that someone found out some other way, which would make them distrust you even more?" He finally paused and took a breath, hoping that hadn't come out sounding too confusing...

Haze had once again rested her head on the ground, still watching the others, while Switchblade seemed a bit distant, gazing across the warm stretch of beach, hearing parts of the conversation mixed in between thoughts from the past...

Aircrest shot up onto the ledge of the cliff with a grunt of effort. He landed with a thump and let himself drop down to the dirt for another moment of rest. Leaping from platform to platform had drained him more so than the sprint through the Rex's turf it seemed. Droplets of water ran down his body. That coupled with a cool nightly breeze sent chills running across his green and black hide...

Howler blinked, trying to get all of what Rhojis said through his head. After a moment, he hissed, "Oh, I get it! Well, I suppose you wouldn't have any choice but to swallow your fear and face said individual. If he... or she were to become upset, the least you could do is comfort her. Or, uh, him."

Selena dropped the ferns she was holding and pushed them towards Hazel with one hand. "Let me know if they aren't enough," she growled.

"Rapture," Thorn growled, studying the other male thoughtfully. "An interesting name...." He paused, turning his head to look at Switchblade and Haze. "What say you three to staying here for the night? I'll wake you before the bigger predators get to moving around much so you can head out in safety, if you like."

Siri was nearing the place where the Allosaurs had appeared on the scene earlier in the day. Their scent was fading. Some of the tension left her shoulders. That was good. It looked like they were just a pair of young males wanting to seem tough by stealing from a pack of raptors. She poked her head out of the undergrowth at the edge of the clearing, her violet eyes scanning carefully. The pack's kill was little more than a few scraps of flesh and splintered bones. Swallowing her disappointment, she backed into the ferns with hardly a rustle and padded along the borders. She could pick up some prey on her way; their territory was hardly short of hunting opportunities.

Back in the cave, Silver was gently urging her young ones to go to sleep after their long day, with the help of Viridis. The two young females were becoming fast friends, a fact that was not lost on Mwuaji. He was still on sentry duty, but was dividing his attention between his job and the newcomers. The three young raptors were clearly excited to be in a new place. Silver seemed to be settling in well. They warm right up to her, he thought, more than a little bitterly. What's so different between her and me? We're both raptors who needed a pack...but she gets half the pack to like her in two minutes. I've been here how long, and Inculta, Astus, and Viridis still don't trust me. With a quiet sigh, he turned back to guarding the cave. He barely noticed when Inculta left the cave, heading for the half-boulder.

Astus, meanwhile, had indeed gone to the half-boulder. He was perched on top of it, simply watching the daylight die. Though his expression was cold and stony, beneath it he was a mess of envy, pain, and regret. If only I'd told her...if only I'd taken one of those many chances to tell Siri how much she meant to me, he thought. I guess I'm just a cowardly hatchling who can't open his mouth when he should... He let out a quiet sigh.

"I thought I might find you here, brother." Inculta leaped up the rough side of the boulder in a few quick bounds, to stand beside Astus. They were quiet for a while, with only a slight turn of the head from Astus showing that he knew his brother was there.

"Why are you here, Inculta?" Astus hardly recognized his older brother anymore; Inculta had become strangely distant from the pack recently. It was as if the dominant male no longer wanted anything to do with pack life. Or maybe he just didn't want to lead the pack anymore. It was impossible to know; Inculta never said anything about the beginning split between himself and the rest of the pack, and no one dared ask, out of fear of the answer.

"You look like you've got a lot on your mind." That was the gentlest Astus had ever heard his brother speak to him. "...I know you loved Siri," the older of the two went on hesitantly after a short pause.

"I still do," Astus muttered, looking away. Inculta paused. "She was...my everything, brother. I loved her more than I ever thought I could love another raptor. I thought...maybe...it would grow into something more." He paused and swallowed, trying to ignore the sting of pain. "My mistake was letting you come with me the day I was going to tell her how I felt. She saw you and I could tell that I'd missed my chance." He fell silent as the regret...the pain...threatened to choke him. Inculta looked down at him, not knowing what to say. "You have no idea...how much it hurt me to watch you and her falling for each other. After that day, you two wanted to spend every minute of your lives together. You asked her to join our pack. You asked her to be your mate. You asked her, when father decided it was time for the two of us to leave and start our own pack, to come with us. You were far braver than I...you even had a future, until..."

Inculta looked down at the rough stone beneath his feet. "Siri made sure those Oviraptors paid dearly," he rumbled. "I'd never seen her so angry. I was furious too...but she was the one who tore them all apart."

Astus kept his gaze trained out at the horizon, pain flickering in his eyes. He'd been out on a hunt when the Oviraptors had raided the nest, destroying all of the eggs. He knew that Inculta had been patrolling their small territory, trying to avoid such a tragedy. "And the illness," he whispered. "It almost destroyed your second chance at raising your young."

"Viridis was the only one that survived. To this day, I'm still thankful that even one of those tiny hatchlings was spared that awful death." Inculta remembered well. That strange sickness that had killed off all four of Viridis' brothers. They had coughed and coughed, and hadn't been able to keep any of their food down. They'd grown weaker and weaker, while he and Siri watched, helpless to do anything. In the end, the four had starved to death. They had been too small to fight off the illness. Siri had been heartbroken and become very protective of their surviving daughter.

"You're very lucky," Astus rumbled, "to have a daughter after all that." He'd often wondered why Viridis had been the only one not to catch the sickness. Whatever the reason, he, Siri, and Inculta had all agreed at the time; she was a very, very lucky little raptor.

"Im sure they'll be more than plenty" Hazel growled, and with a nod of thanks took the ferns down into the den. She turned around and laid them out over the first layer, making sure there werent any gaps in the cover. She then rested herself on the plant bed a smile on her maw. "Perfect" she barked from within her Earthen sleeping place.

Aircrest shuddered as he started to walk off wondering what could've been the cause. The breeze wasnt blowing, so why was he still feeling cold? He followed the edge of the rockface, intending to backtrack his way to the lagoon and from there, the place he left the others. Maybe he'd feel better nestled amongst the undergrowth and under the cover of tree leaves. Just as he was going to walk past the lines of bushes just to his side, his head swung down and his nostrils flared as he let out a strong sneeze. He pulled his head back and sniffled, before snarling "Aw damn it... dont tell me Im getting sick..." Though, in hindsight, running through two storms back on the human island, it was a wonder he didnt get sick earlier

"Truer words were never spoken." Fury growled, nodding to his hatchling-hood friend. "Its good to see you're all still alive and kicking." he added, smiling as he observed the family in front of him. It brought back fond memories...being part of a family. Only with those in front of him now did he feel like he belonged as a youngster...

"Sounds good to me, brother." Rapture growled with a smirk, laying his head back down.

"When was the last time Ive been sick?!" Aircrest grumbled to himself as he parted the bushes infront of him, moving through the opening with a stiff tail. His eyes were locked in a glare as he was scolding himself. "After all the things Ive done in recent days, its after I get a tad bit wet and a little chilly that I start getting the sniffles!" He rambled on. He sneezed again, a puff of vapor escaping his nostrils with the motion. He shook his head and snarled to himself "Take it easy...that run and climb took a lot out of you...and you dont have that much energy to spare in your condition" He relaxed a bit, knowing that being angry wasnt going to fix anything. He'd have to really conserve his strength. A sick loner getting exhausted in the jungle was as good as dead. He thought about that, how he would fare if he was alone, without a mate to care for him. The other times he was sick, he scavenged off of medium to large game and slinked off to some secluded place, hoping his illness wouldnt give away his position to other predators. Those days were... not pleasant. Remembering those times made him thankful he had someone who wanted to be with him everyday. It strengthened his drive to get back to her alright.
