"Like what?" She went over to sit at her desk, but he stopped her by grabbing her arm and twirling her so that she was face to face with him again. She glared into his eyes and huffed, not having the patience for him.
"About what happened, and what interest does Captain James hold to you?" He noticed that her eyes widened at the mention of the name and smirked even more. "Ah, so he holds a special interest to you, am I right?"
Adeline carefully watched his actions. "I would be careful, if I were you, Mr. Duplair. I can just call my crew to-" He cut her off. She hated when he did that, but what he said next made her eyes as wide as saucers.
"Your father, Adeline is worried about you and still wants you to marry me. He wanted me to find you and bring you back to Port Royal as soon as possible." He was pleased with the reaction on her face. It held a look of shock, mixed with fear and anger.
"B-But...you can't do that! We have to rescue Captain Jack and James and stop the East India Trading Company from their mad desire to destroy piracy! And why would my father even think of doing such a thing?"
"Because he knows that I love you, Adeline and he knows that if he gets you to marry me, your family will be better off. Buisness has not been going well for them. Your father needs the money."
"He is rich and-"
"And he has debts to be paid," Eric said in a nonchalent voice. "It is already settled."
Adeline narrowed her eyes and was about to slap the man, but he stopped her hand from hitting its target and twisted it. She bit her lip, hard, not wanting to cry out in pain. "Oh Adeline, what must your crew think of you," he said with a sigh. "Sneaking downstairs at night to see a man. Of course, they don't know about the lessons." He smiled. "And we will get the precious Captain Jack and James. As soon as this whole ordeal is over, you are to marry me. Your father will be so proud," he hissed in her ear. "No more piracy for his little girl. You shall make me captain and make me take command of your crew."
She kept silent as he continued talking. She silently nodded at his request. "What of me? Will I still be captain?"
He shrugged. "You are my fiance as of now. Let's go out and join the captains. Make your announcement to them."
Adeline glared and didn't answer. She turned the doorknob and made her way out with Eric following close behind her. She ignored the whispering from her crew. "I have an announcement to make. Eric is going to be captain for now on." She stayed silent and waited for Eric to make his own announcement.
"And Adeline is to be my wife as soon as this whole ordeal with the East India Trading Company is over," said Eric.
