More of the explosive spines were sent hurling back to their source, taking another large group out of the sky. Others began dropping from the sky as well, the life slowly drained from their bodies. Although the warp field was weakening, the death of each arachnid slowed it considerably, the group moving on as quickly as they could...
The Hive Tyrant and its group pressed further into the Hive, making their way deeper, while the remainder of the Tyranid host continued to attack anything in sight, hoping to attract the whole hive to their location, if need be...
"You waste our precious brothers on this suicidal gambit. Turn back at once, and dismiss these ridiculous notions!" a voice growled, originating from the console ahead of them. A stooped figure stood beside it, staring out into the black abyss of space. "The creators have destroyed our home, Zeh'ek. We haven't the numbers or resources to take a world from the flesh-creatures. It may be a gambit, but knowledge never lies. It is necessary." the figure replied back, its voice emitting from an almost faceless head. Zeh'ek snarled in irritation. "These fleshlings do not know the strength that we posses! Do you think the Traitor got to them all? Their technology is ripe for the taking!" the voice growled, the sound of metal against metal emitting through the console. "Then take them." the figure responded, cutting communications.
The figure, a machine in the same form as its less civilized brethren, was decorated with gold armor plating, especially around the hunched shoulders, which were decorated with strange symbols and pictures, all etched in silver and gold. A long white cape flowed off its back and down to the floor, its hunched stature obscuring most of its body to those looking at it from behind. It was strange, the machine thought, how different they had become. On their homeworld they were all unified under a single purpose: To continue their assimilation throughout the galaxy. But now...the Original Ones had separated. They were no longer in unison. Alta'ek found disagreement with the others quite common. They had their own goals, now...but one thing was certain. All technology would be theirs, whatever they intended to do with it...
