"Arcane... why of course..." The woman replied as she reached once more into her inventory. after a little bit of searching, she pulled out a fist-sized diamond, one in wich had some strange inscription painted upon it. "I collected this on my latest expedition. The person whom accompanied me told me that there once existed an old tribe of short people, whose height tended to be about 3 or so feet. He said that the tribe had worshiped this diamond, and that the local priest of the tribe had painted on the inscription with animal blood to please one of their dietys..."

The horses snorted and reared onto their hind legs, knocking off their guard riders. "HOLY- Captain, something's lurking around here!" One of the guards wispered, his eyes growing wide with horror at the sounds of whatever it was that was moving around. The captain, who managed to stay on his horse, drew out the sword from the bag on his horse's side. "Whoever is out there, COME OUT!" The captain roared, sword ready in his hand...

Th Dragon placed the amber back on the stall's table before taking the diamond, holding it close to his face, inspecting it. the inscriptions on it were indeed blood. of what, he couldn't discern. "Is there anything else you can tell me about it?" he growled curiously...

The crying of what sounds like a child is heard from a bush nearby the warriors, before another pair of red eyes gleam out at them, and undecipherable whispers are heard coming from where the eyes are..........

"Um... The only other thing I know of this diamond is that, in the place the tribe worshiped it, diamonds were extremely rare, to the point that this is one of the only diamonds known from that area" the woman responded honestly. Truth be told, she really didn't know a whole lot about this diamond at all... though it might fetch quite a price...

The captain looked at the red eyes, not frightened in the least as he advanced toward it on horseback, before pointing his sword directly at the eyes. "Whoever you are, come out now! By the authority of the ruler of Garmania, I command you to reveal yourself!" the captain shouted, his eyes locked onto the red ones in the darkness...

The hooded being loudly cleared his throat and stepped forward, towards the diamond. "If you'll allow me, I may be able to uncover any secrets this artifact may contain..."

The creature hisses before whispering again in an undecipherable language. Before long, a roughly seven foot tall form can barely be seen moving where the eyes are, the eyes moving up to the captain's level. The creature slowly begins to approach the captain..........

The Dragon eyed the hooded being for a moment, before grunting, handing the diamond to the creature, who he had begun to guess the identity of, hoping to find out more...

The creature eagerly plucked the diamond away from Septimus with his scaly blue claws, his eyes beginning to glow beneath the hood again. "Yes..." he hissed. "Yes, there is power in here. Not very much, I'm afraid. Comparable to weak rune magic..."

Uriel, after eating his meal and watching the group of soldiers head out of the city, began to think over his situation. A part of him wanted to leave...he was already attacked during his first theft, and greed almost cost him his freedom on his last raid. But clearly something else was the interest of the soldiers...or they were after him, and were obviously misinformed. Either way, the dragon felt somewhat secure...deciding to take a chance, Uriel scented the air once again, trying to find some food away from the market. The scent of farm animals, a usual prey for the dragon during his raids, reached him, and his goal became clear...

The guards and the Captain stepped back, before the captain on his horse sdvanced forward. The large horse snorted, while it's rider pointed the sword once more at the strange creature. "HALT WHERE YOU ARE, BEING!" The captain roared, fearless even before this hulking abomination. The rest of the guards and their horses were behind the captain, figuring it would be safer there...

By this time, Dione was leaving the farmhouse with the blinded horse trailing behind her. In on ehand, she had a rope, which was attached to the horse's neck. She knew that the secret entrance to the chambers was just up ahead from here...

In of of the fields of the farm itself, a large herd of cattle grazed peacefully. Alongside them was a flock of sheep, and a small group of horses. These three groups helped each other watch out for any predators coming in. The horses, with their unaturally acute vision, could see predators in the dark, while the sheep could smell anything the horses couldn't see. The cattle were the bodyguards, able to take on even small dragons with their ferocity and temper...

"Really? I didn't know that diamond contained magic..." The woman remarked with surprise. Just who was this strange hooded being? The scales on his hand suggested it was a reptile, but...

The creature snarls before replying in a series of whispers, the eyes on it glowing slightly brighter for a moment, allowing a bit of its shadow shrouded form to be visible. The creature then sends a blast of shadow onto the captain......

Soon, Uriel saw the farm itself, scenting the creatures that wandered in its fields. Luckily, the wind was in his favor, blowing his preys' scents toward him, and his own scent away from them. Silently, the dragon prowled toward the fields, dark color against the night making the keenest of eyes strain to see him. Particularly, Uriel was looking toward the sheep, waiting a fair distance away until the moment was right...

The captain howled in pain as the blast slammed into him, knocking him off the horse and onto his back. In that instant, the rest of the guards fired upon the shadowy being with their crossbows, not even bothering to wait for their captain to give the order to fire...

Dione came to the bush where her father was dead several hours earlier. She moved through it, leading the blind horse through it also. before them was a massive dark tunnel, with no yellow eyes peering out of it this time...

"And i don't suppose you could figure out the nature of this magic?" growled Septimus as he eyed the hooded being...

The creature merely shrugged. "There isn't much to say about it, really. It would be a most useful conduit for magical power, but otherwise it is of little use..." he hissed.

the Dragon grunted, stretching out a hand. "If you don't mind" he growled, reaching for the diamond and closing his claws around it before lifting it, the gem glowing a dim white for a moment, bluish swirls extending from it and along his arm, the bluish white runes on his arms flashing white as the swirls struck them one by one, before fading finally, the Dragon frowning slightly, as if in thought, before grunting. handing the gem back to the girl, he growled "It appears my business will be restricted to the amber, the folk songs and the map, if the gentleman here doesn't want it. otherwise, i'd like to see what other map you may have"...

"Any other maps... um... Wait a second!" The lady exclaimed as she pulled out a second map from her inventory. "If I remember correctly, then this is a map of the country of Draxon... I got it a few years ago from a tourist... Oh, and the price for all this stuff would be about... 3 pieces of silver..."

The Dragon smiled. "My gratitude, stranger. a shame i haven't a name to connect to the generosity" he growled before turning to the girl, his eyes narrowing, glowing dimly as something large and seemingly glassy floated out of one of the travelling satchels, the Dragon holding a hand to the side, the object landing, the glowing runes on his arm casting light on it, revealing it to be a brilliant cut topaz, about as wide as a man's thumbnail and equally as tall, handing it to the girl. "This should cover the expenses, and pay to get your father some better treatment" he growled, knowing it was easily worth 20 silver pieces, but feeling generous considering the girl's respectful and admirable salesmanship...

The being's eyes glinted. "I was waiting for someone to ask," he growled with a wheezy chuckle, before lowering his hood, revealing the head of a grizzled-looking Skink who, despite the Lizardman's advanced age, had eyes that seemed alive as any young man's. His head crest was flattened against his head, but raised, shifting subtly in color as it did so, when he spoke. "My name is Tetto'eko," the Skink said, a toothy smile creasing his features. "And who might you two be?"
