Getting an idea, Zazikel planted a phantom idea in the servant's mind, making it seem as if the servant had thought it up himself: This isn't working! They'll find out! All I needed to do was get them to trust me and I blew it! Not the most original thought, Zazikel knew, but it was certainly better than nothing...

Arsenic picked up on the thought and his now-black eyes locked on the servant and narrowed. He prodded Andruil's and Vix's minds, thinking to them both, Got something. He's either a very good actor and hid it until now - or something's manipulating his mind. Vix shot him a questioning look out of the corner of her eye.

Think you could've missed it if it was either of the former two? responded Andruil mentally, hoping Arsenic was keeping a steady presence to hear his thoughts...

Probably not, Arsenic replied grimly. I'm pretty good at finding out when someone's lying. Which means whatever followed him in, may be close by...

The wildmen were still silently moving into the town still unsure if any living foes might still lingere, none the wiser of the approaching army. Lokar however was moving steadily into the colder north that led back to the "Gates of Midgard" if the soldiers had any hope of actually catching him without the ample provisions and warmer weather gear to survive, not to mention a tracker of incredible ablity. They had to pick up the pace to catch him because once on the other side the snow would soon cover their tracks and the freezing winds can turn into a deadly cyclone of ice chips capable of taking off the skin from a man's exposed face.

"Answer me this, Draxon. What of Zazikel's forces were present in Freyr-Lunge when you were sent here?" said Andruil cryptically, concealing his intentions behind the question for now...

In a area somewhat north from the Eastern Confederate's kingdom, a small group of soldiers rode on their horses through a small clearing towards a pathway in the forest, the captain leading the way on a somewhat large, white horse. Soon, he ordered the animal to speed things up, the horse snorting and raising its form, before charging off right on the path into the wooded area, soon followed by the others as they patrolled the area...

Zazikel snarled inwardly. This wasn't working. That d*mned Tzeentch would expose him if he didn't come up with something now... Unless... Unless he took the initiative. Did he really fear these foolish whelps? He could very well come right out and burn the entire village to the ground if he so wished, just to set an example. A tempting option, but he had to make sure no one survived...

The Royal Army of Germani acontinued onward, the town of SUsano now coming into view. "Alright men! Today, wel shall retake what is ours from the barbarians that sacked Susano! Let them taste God's wrath!" The servant roared out, his very voice sounding just close enough to Trajans that all in the army were convinced that it was Trajan who was leading the army. The rest of the army roared back in reply, before continuing forward. The Trebuchets were loaded up, for the conflict that was to come soon enough...

The captain and his group tear through the pathway, ignoring everything hiding in bushes and trees close to the trail, seeming hungry as they watched the horses and their riders charge by them all. Others scattered away at the sound of the hooves crashing into the ground and the calls from those riding them, giving orders to both their steeds and those behind them at times...

"Oh for the love of..." a voice echoed around the room as the cat strode forward. "Zazikel hides behind this mortal. He thinks himself clever, but once again his presence is like a stain upon the world." it explained, the eyes of the feline shining brightly, outlining the man's shadow with a thin blue light...

Desrium glances from side to side as he walks along the path. He was alone outside, save for the creatures of the night, that hid in the shadows. Their eyes shone in the darkness while the rest of their features couldnt be discerned. The shops had closed, open spaces were now covered by wooden boards, locked in place by chains. He could see flickering fire light in the windows of homes, and a few smoke trails rising from chiminies. His crimson eyes flared up, learning about the purpose of the columns of stone. "Must be a cool night" The armored being thought. He never took a notice to temperature. It was always chilled within his metal shell. Not too long later, he found an alley way that he thought would be a good place to spend the night. A long gap between buildings, with tattered drapes hanging from an old scafolding. Wooden crates were stacked up one ontop the other. It was just about all he could've hoped for if he wanted to stay out of the way. Just as he was about to step in, he heard a scratching sound that seemed to be approaching . It couldnt be human. Along with the noise were snorts and grunts, obviously an animal. As the sounds drew closer, Desrium could hear a voice, feminine. He turned around to see a strange sight. A lizard like animal with brown leather bindings wrapping around its snout and upper torso, not impeding the creature's range of motion. Its scaley hide was a dark blue color, easilly mistaken for black in the darkness, with a golden underbelly. On its neck were thin, vibrant green and blue flaps pasted to its scales. It stopped when it saw the armored figure and reared up on its hind legs, letting its fore limbs hang at its sides. The strange flaps shot out, revaling themselves to be frills that had a batwing structure when extended. The frills fluttered about rappidly and erratically as the reptillian animal let out a deep rumbling growl. "Settle down Perioul!" The voice called out from behind. The large creature turned its head to the side, revealing large light brown eyes set under a boney crest on its broad head that transitioned into a slender snout. Perioul cocked his head, as if asking the person behind him a question. “Down you defensive Frondfoot!” The voice said. Perioul swung his head about to face Desrium again and lowered himself onto all fours again. ”I can see what startled you…” He heard the lady say. Desrium spotted the creature’s long claws, the talons situated on five spaced out toes and fingers. “That explains the scratching…” He said to himself. He looked up from the creature’s claws to the thing strapped to it. A large wooden cart with all sorts of carry ons tied down onto it. An open case was in his view, inside were several large books, like the one he saw the dragon exile read. At the front of the cart was a woman in a long though thin coat that went all the down to her shins. She had black pants on and boots with a silver buckles on the side. Her hair was dark and was blown about by a breeze. In one hand she held the two ropes attached to restraints on the back of the lizard’s head “I take it you’re the traveller that showed up some time ago?” She asked. “How’d you know?” Desrium replied. She smiled and said “Well, word spreads fast in this town, and I havent seen another ‘tall, straight postured stranger with even stranger armor on’ around here before now” Desrium chuckled. “That’s how Ive been described?”
“Just about. Some people here just wait for something out of the ordinary to happen so they can go on a tangent about how extraordinary it is” The woman replied. “So, are you going to tell me?”
“Tell you what?” Desrium inquired. “Your name!” The lady said matter of factly. “Manners. Hardly anyone has them anymore”
“Of course. My name’s Desrium. What may yours be?” The armored figure replied. “Syria” The dark haired woman replied. “A pleasure to meet you” Desrium said after a short moment, his eyes glowing as he learned about greetings. He bowed his head politely to both show respect to Syria and keep her from noticing. “And…Perioul, was it?” He asked as he raised his gaze, his crimson eyes back to normal – as normal as they could be- and looked at the lizard. Its tail was held up underneath the cart by restraints, so it wouldn’t get caught in its wheels, but Desrium saw it shake back and fourth. It reminded him of his encounter with the Unicorns, how they stood apprehensively around him, swishing their tails about. “Yeah, Perioul” Syria replied, leaning forward to pat the lizard’s shoulder. “He’s rude, tempermental and downright difficult at times, but a hard worker and dependable.” The corners of the creature’s maw curved upwards and he held his head up, turning it from side to side to show off his frill flaps. “And he’s quite vain” Syria added with a chuckle, sitting up again. “You two must’ve been together for a while now” Desrium said. Syria nodded “And we’ll be together for longer still. Frondfoots are notorious for living long” A split second after she said that, she realized that she had to get going again. “Well Desrium, Ive got to get to where Im needed- say, why are you out so late anyway?”
“I was at the lake” Desrium replied. “Doing what?” Syria asked. “Watching the moon. Have you seen the way it rises over the mountains?”
“…Not really” She replied. “Usually most of us are inside by dusk. The only reason Im still up is because I just came back from picking up some things for the inn”
“I see” Desrium replied. “A pity. Its quite a sight”
“…Right” Syria replied, before asking “Do you have a place to spend the night perchance?”
“I was just about to head in” Desrium said, gesturing to the alley. “Oh dear…” Syria said, shaking her head. “That wont do. Why don’t you come with me to the inn? Its not too far up this path here, and I could get you a room and work out a payment rate”
“That’s the thing Syria, Ive got no money, I couldn’t pay you even if I wanted to”
“You mean to tell me all you do is wander around? You don’t get a job? How did you get that armor-“ She stammered a bit before asking “How long have you been living like this?!”
“Not as long as you’d think” Desrium replied plainly. The corner of Syria’s mouth twitched. She took a deep breath and said “Well, if your willing to work for your keep, you can come with me to the inn. I could use some help there and I wont feel right letting you stay out here…so…what do you say?”
“I say, I have an affinity for coming across kind strangers” Desrium replied. “I accept your offer”
“Very well then” Syria said. Almost instinctually, Perioul started to walk off towards the inn while Syria leaned back against her seat on the cart, with Desrium walking along side the lizard.

Andruil's eyes widened as he heard the voice. he had a hunch it had been Zazikel. but now it was confirmed. the fact the confirmation came from a cat surprised him however. what was it? that could wait till later. giving a quick glance at his blade's hilt, he noticed the runes were now glowing clearly enough to stand out against the black metal. apparently exposing Zazikel brought with it the actual danger of his presence.Arsenic...Have the others get here...We just might have a fight on our hands he warned the elf silently, hoping Arsenic was still listening in...

Suddenly rocks came flying out of the air and smashed into anything that couldn't get out of the way. The wildmen were baffled and stunned and before long more rocks flew at them. The wildmen attempted to hide in the ruins of buildings in hope of safety.

Arsenic, picking up on Andruil's thought despite still reeling from the fact the cat spoke, gave Vix a mental nudge and relayed the other man's message. She backed up to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the elf. Arsenic's mind was already reaching out, nudging and alerting any assassins he encountered. It wasn't long before a stream of confused elves, humans, and human-elf crosses were coming down the stairs and in the back door. Some were holding swords, some bows, some daggers. Almost all of them looked puzzled but ready to fight.

"Tool kit - Poison green Hektine- Forager"
"Rodoka Crate - Harriet - Guardsman"
"Leg & Arm - Harriet - Guardsman"
"Thunkity Bunk - Lyze - Wood Cutter"
"Betlot Brumy - Lyze - Hunter"
"DoorKnock - Lyze- Hunter"

The messenger finished the list and rolled up the parchment.

Duke Mortar nodded thoughtfully. The messenger nodded his head and added "Captain Toothpick wanted to point out that along with few fatalities, all assailing creatures were killed or in the case of one of the harriet's, captured."

Duke Mortar raised an eyebrow. One of the badai standing by the Work Room's war table turned around, looking immensely pleased.

The Duke nodded to the messenger dismissing him. The bada by the table spoke his mind straight away "Most excellent! We've been trying to get our hands one of those blighters for quite a while now. King Scream will be delighted"

The Duke grunted, looking towards his other advisors. This guy was the Trade relations Liaison sent from Golden Rivers. He had been a pain in the neck ever since he'd arrived. Nobody said anything, that was the sign that enough was finally enough.

Duke Mortar shifted in his chair, relaxing before saying "hmmm, haven't had Harriet on the menu before... Chicken Plate, are your chefs up to challenge?"
Liaison Tickle bump took a second or so to process what the Duke had said. Before Chicken plate could reply, he spluttered out "What?! Duke Mortar, with all due respect, Golden Rivers has expressed an interest in this animal... Such... friviulous waste would greatly displ-"
Duke Mortar finished the sentence for him in a mocking tone "displease the great noble King Scream? Tickle bump,3 weeks ago I requested Wealthy River's expertise in road construction. All you've given me is drivel. Flaming Dogs is a force to be reckoned with. Mark my words, we are moving up in the world, we have access to the most potential out of any region in the entire Protecorates. We're going to need trading partners, and you'd you do damn well to ensure your one of them when the time comes."

There was a tense silence between the congregation.

Satisfied, Duke Mortar summed up "Your 'king' can have his feathered terror when I get my roads. Till then, Chicken Plate, lets discuss this meal."

Tickle Bump, bowed and swept from the room, looking flustered.

The servant draws his shortsword, a runed blade with a design more similar to a gladius than most other swords of this era. "Durbasr, don't fail me now," the servant says.

Zazikel's voice boomed in everyone's minds: "Blast you Tzeentch! You will pay for your interference!" The servant's shadow seemed to writhe and lunge towards the cat. A split-second later, it was sent flying across the room, crashing into the wall. Zazikel's shadow form extended from the ground behind the servant, two ling, skinny arms extending, wicked, crooked fingers grabbing the servant's head and twisting, threatening to snap his neck...
