Lydia stood up and sighed, stretching. Looking at the clock she was surprised to find an hour and a half had passed. Guess I was more preoccupied than I thought.... she thought, rinsing the empty coffee mug and leaving it in the sink. "Five hours until I have to meet this guy....or woman," she muttered. "May as well kill time and try to relax." She made her way out to the sofa and got comfortable, sprawled along its length. She turned the TV on and began to channel surf, hoping to find something interesting enough to keep her mind off the upcoming meeting. Now that she'd decided it was in her best interest to see what this person wanted, she didn't want to spend longer than she had to worrying about it.

Kala shrugged. "Cephian ships, particularly warships, don't have any real weak points. It really just comes down to shooting it enough so that it explodes. Simple enough."

"Lovely. Then what class of ship is Zakai using?" Galaak said, making a mental note to archive the information on Cephian technology for later use...

Kevin abruptly stepped over to the side and spun around on a heel to look at the stranger, nearly bumping into someone else passing by and the money dropping into a hand. "Watch it will you kid?!" The person dressed up in light cloth clothing said as they pushed on, the boy only hearing the irritated feminine voice but not getting a good look at her. Visibly taken by surprise, Kevin thought "Whoa, stranger danger..." What the man said concerned him...it implied that the stranger suspected he was behind the chaos in the streets. "****... at this rate Ill be strapped to a lab table at Area 51 in no time..." He continued, not liking the notion of being found, captured and turned into some scientific study. Kevin turned around, heading down the block in the opposite direction he had come, finding some security in the fact the man couldn't be certain about his hunch. For he knew, the boy was just startled by the sight as the others were and hid the alleyway. That scenario made him look like a coward, but at least he was just an average, run of the mill kind of coward. Kevin stuffed the money into his pants pocket, beginning to feel overwhelmed by just living...

Kala shrugged. "Not sure. He changes his ship every mission. Could be a standard gunship, but I'm betting it's a little bigger and tougher than that. He wouldn't just get some run-of-the-mill gunship to take me down." If he had a mouth, Kala would have smirked. "The *******'s cautious, I'll give him that. The only things I can say for sure about his ship is that it's probably rather large, in order to carry his equipment and any personnel he brought along, and likely well-armed. In a straight fight, he'd probably shoot you out of the sky pretty d*mn fast."

as Atlas walked, the phone rang, the man answering it. "Anything on Holden-Corp?" he asked. "Well, you were right. the official excuse is that a gas leak attached to one of the labs sparked the explosion" said the man, Atlas nodding. typical. "Get this though; Two kids were seen leaving a bit behind the rest of the class. a field trip. one was Jake Holden, son of Holden-Corp CEO Gerald Holden. the other was Kevin Anderson, an apparent friend of Jake's. The former of the two was en route to the hospital for treatment after what appeared to be, at the time, a bad encounter with shattered glass" said the man. "Buut?" asked Atlas interestedly as he left the pavement and entered a cafe, deciding he could afford a coffee break before he continued home. "But, the Ambulance he was in never made it. the vehicle was hit side on by a Semi-truck at an intersection less than 2 blocks from Holden-Corp. the passengers were killed, but Jake's body wasn't in the wreckage" came the voice. "Oooh, really creepy. that it?" asked Atlas, moving the microphone-end of the cell phone from his mouth for a second, ordering an iced coffee with peppermint flavouring. "Well, eye witness reports are choppy at best, but apparently, something walked out of that accident alive" said the man, Atlas raising a brow. "Something?" he asked. "Yep. Something. descriptions state that the figure was about 6 feet tall and had a face completely devoid of facial features". at that, Atlas chuckled. "You're pulling my leg now, aren't you?" said the blonde man as he paid for his drink, moving towards the small table on the left of the counter to recieve the drink. "Wish I was. the prospect of a literally faceless person going around makes dealing with every day life just that much more difficult" commented the man on the other end of the line, Atlas chuckling. "What about the other boy, Anderson? what do we know of him?". "Not much. All I've dug up so far was that he was apparently a good friend of Jake's, and was seen coming out of Holden-Corp's facility with him. aside from that, all we know is his father arrived and took him home. Looking at the two kids' school files now" said the man. "Let me guess; Anderson's a brown haired kid, 6 feet tall?" asked Atlas. "Seen him?" asked the voice on the line. "I believe so. Do me a favour and keep an eye on activities around the Anderson house for me. I'd like to know more about this kid before I jump to any conclusions". "Got it. I'll see what I can dig up" said the man, the line ending shortly after as Atlas headed back to his car, taking a sip from the drink in his hand...

The bus ride seemed to take an eternity. Not only was he the only person on the bus, but, unlike how things usually went, there was no music playing this time around either. The bus drive commented on the silence.

"Looks like the radio ain't working," he grumbled angrily.

"Seriously?" Max said. "Don't you get these things checked before you leave?"

"It was just working earlier!" the driver said in a frustrated manner.

"That's.... odd," Max replied.

"No ****, sherlock!" the driver growled. "Do you know how much these ******* things cost?!"

"No, but i hope you can replace it soon," Max said.

The bus fell into silence again, leaving Max to ponder the odd things that had happened in the past few minutes...

"Clearly you've never seen an Ascatian cruiser's flight capability. Even automated turret systems have trouble keeping up with them" Galaak said proudly. "Speaking of the cruisers, I say its time we got this one away from here" He added shortly after, turning his chair about to face the various monitors and controls. The orange sphere of light appeared ahead of him. Putting his hands on it on beginning to fly his craft back towards the city limits, keeping the speed down to avoid having the Cephian flying back into a wall and damaging something, either the suit or the ship. "Do me a favor Kala and cloak yourself. I need to get Zakai's attention off of this location. I'm going to report you missing" Galaak requested...

"They can track us in more ways than just visual," Kala said. "It won't make much difference if I cloak or not. Same goes with your ship. If you can't hide the heat signature or other electronic emissions, they'll find us somehow."

"Ah, but my ship does just that. Its why they didn't know it was over the structure until I...dispatched one of their robots" said Galaak. "Granted, if I try to hail another craft or the likes, they would surely pick up on that. Luckily, they are the only others ones I can readily contact at the moment. Just cloak and Ill open communications to tell them of your absence."

Kala shrugged. "Very well then..." In an instant, the Cephian and his suit faded from view, the glowing white visor slits being the last thing to vanish into thin air...

Soon after Kala's seemingly disappearance, Galaak began to cycle through available communication channels, locating the one he used when he first came across the second Cephian ship. "E-doch, initiate communications" He said, a ripple of light running across the main screen of the vessel in preparation to project the images on the other end...

"You'd better be getting back to your route," The Chief said. "Don't want any pesky criminals getting away."

"Yes sir," Aya replied as she departed.

At first, there was no contact at the other end, though the ship's energy signature was where it had landed before, albeit noticeably fainter, like it was using the bare necessities to operate. Kala tapped his fingers against the "hip" of his suit quietly, making muted tapping sounds out of apparently nowhere, clearly impatient...

"Seems like nobody is home. That, or they have had enough of me" Galaak said in response to the tapping. He ended the attempt for contact, not exactly wanting one of the Cephians taking the call unexpectedly and then having him explain the strange sound in his cockpit...

"It is quite curious that they would have their ship lower its energy output like that. I feel they are planning something...or putting a plan into motion..." Galaak replied as he adjusted his heading to that of the mercenaries' vessel. He wanted to increase his flight speed and was at work trying to think of a solution. He got one fairly quickly. "Kala, do not be alarmed by what I'm about to do" the Ascatian said as he began to tab buttons on the consoles in front of him.

Kala tensed nonetheless, metal feet tightening their grip on the floor of the cockpit. "Er, what exactly are you about to do?" he asked...

The black car cruised leisurely down a dirt road by the beach-side, Jake sat in the passenger seat, staring into the car's mirror trying to understand what was going on. He concentrated and thought but this blank featureless face that gazed back at him in the mirror hardly did anything besides a wobble. A jello like disturbance at its surface. He could have sat at that mirror for hours but the car pulled up to a stop on a gravel road, bouncing both Charles and Jake around before coming to a halt. "We're here" Charles said, folding up the mirror for Jake so he could see where they were. "The old vacation home?" Jake asked, before him was a very familiar beach-side house, a two story wooden house, it had been left to the elements for the longest time, when business started getting better for Gerald he spent less and less time here and more and more time at work, eventually they just left it all together. And despite not being in care for the longest time it was still in good shape.
"I suggest you find a job, your father never gave you access to a bank account but you can't expect funds from him anymore." Charles stated. Jake nodded on half listening and half caring, what kind of man would he be if he couldn't live on without Gerald's money. "I'll drop off food daily, and stock up your fridge later. The house has electricity, plumbing, the works."
"So it's like hiding out, but it's a lot more luxurious " Jake joked, staring the house up and down. "Just don't mess it up more than it already is." Charles said, handing Jake a key. "Your Dad doesn't even know we still own this place, I changed the locks ages ago so he can't get in. I can only cover for you for so long though, Jake. As much as you are my friend Gerald is as well, I'll leave some money tomorrow, just go in and rest, it's been a long day." Jake looked Gerald in the eye, his face slowly forming back to normal in an almost liquid fashion, it settled in its original form, showing Jake with a very appreciative expression. Charles smiled, as Jake opened the door and walked to the house. He looked back one more time before opening the door and going inside. Charles backed out of the driveway then went up the dirt road, he'd be back.
Well James Bond Chinchilla and Monsta Pacman gets old after a year or so of absence. >_> Methinks I'll leave this blank until I come up with something to put here.

Near Kala's feet, two panels split apart and two grasping arms raised up from the newly formed openings, their three pronged hands clamping onto his legs. From the ceiling, two more arms came, descending and holding onto the Cephian's shoulders. "If I can't strap you into a seat, then I guess this is how you'll have to fly" Galaak said without looking back, already shifting out of cruising speed...
