The Baryonyx snarled as it sidestepped the charging Allosaur, it's tail whipping the Allosaur as it passed, the piscivorous predator making a run for it while the Allosaur recovered, sprinting for the treeline...

As the Baryonx passed beside him, Slackjaw whirled around, jaws snapping shut on the end of the fish eater's tail, the Allosaur getting into a more solid stance as he held the Baryonx in place...

The Baryonyx screeched as it spun around, it's claws raking along the Allosaur's flank as it forced it to let go, putting some space between itself and the Allosaur as it backed away slowly, arms at the ready in case the Allosaur attacked again. The fact that the Allosaur was a fast runner dawned on it, and the realisation struck it that in a run, it'd be run down and brought down by the predator. This would have to be a fight...hopefully one it could escape....

The Rex and Raptor continued running for quite a distance, only slowing once the sounds of the jungle began to ring through the trees, the Raptor halting on the edge of a small clearing, Crusher panting exhaustedly as he eyed the smaller predator, who seemed unaffected by the run, which may well have been a couple of miles-worth. The Elder looked back through dark orange eyes, the gaze so intense it seemed to read him. "And that, Crusher, is why you don't walk into the 'Hissing Caves' alone. At least not yet" hissed the Raptor as he eyed a branch about level with the Rex's head, hopping onto it and crouching comfortably, thoroughly enjoying the bewildered look on the young Rex's face. "H...how do you know my name?" growled Crusher, shocked. "You didn't REALLY think the son of one of the Most Dominant Predators on Isla Sorna could go unknown, did you?" chirped the Raptor as he cocked his head. "Even WITHOUT knowing you, that performance back there was proof enough" he hissed. "Performance? What performance?" growled the Rex confusedly. "You didn't notice? black and brown hide, rich beige patterns across your body, cream underside, red eyes with the narrow yellow ring around the pupils...A spitting image of your father Spectre. Plus you had the bravery to match. Not everyone would stand up to a pack of Carnotaurus and be ready to kill the first one that came at them" barked the Raptor matter-of-factly as he licked the blood off his claws. Crusher seemed to go blank for a few moments, honestly not knowing whether to be surprised at how he'd apparently changed in appearance during the fight, or proud that he'd been compared to his father. "I wasn't brave....I was terrified! I just....I just didn't want to die like that...Not like that. Not pointlessly. My parents lost too much trying to protect me and my siblings. I'm the only one left....I won't let their efforts go to waste" he growled after a few moments. Ripper smiled. "And that, young one, is exactly why you survived. You refused to lie down and die. You refused to give up your life. You fought for it tooth and claw. Never showed them weakness. And it paid off. You're not old enough to know it yet, but during that fight, they were hesitant to attack you. You may have been afraid, but they feared you as well. Usually in that situation a creature would try to run. Find a hole in the ring of predators, and bolt for it. A logical move, no doubt, but one that tells them all that it's terrified of them. That gives them the drive to dive in and rip it apart. You however, stood your ground. You snarled, you glared, you killed anything that got too close. And the result may well be the reason you're standing here now, talking to me about it" hissed the Elder with a smile as he looked the Rex in the eye, the Tyrannosaur having since returned to his typical colouring, a dull grey and black pattern covering his flanks and back, his underside once again tan instead of a creamy colour. The Rex seemed deep in thought, considering what the Elder had said, his mind a jumble of thoughts and emotions, trying to absorb it all. The thoughts eventually culminated with one simple question. "How do you know so much about me?"...

The Allosaur began circling its prey, waiting patiently for an opportunity to strike. While the wounds inflicted by the fish eater stung continuously, Slackjaw was already heavily scarred from the hard life of a loner, and a few more wounds weren't much to think about.

Beryl suddenly froze, his jaws ready to part for a third and final distress call. If he hadn't hesitated the extra second, he might have missed the nearby sounds altogether. His head snapped around, first one way, then the other, and he grimaced as he pushed slightly away from the tree for a better all-around view, his foot only lightly skimming the ground. It was a few seconds before he saw them; a pair of eyes reflecting golden from the shadowy roots of a nearby tree. His own yellow gaze stared unblinkingly back at them, his mind racing. He couldn't afford to be attacked again, and couldn't simply run either. And even if the twins had heard him, it would still take them several minutes to find him. So the injured raptor did the only thing he really could do, pulling his lips back to show his glistening teeth and letting out the deepest, most threatening warning growl he could muster, though his pain was still evident in his tone...

"You are a cripple. Am I supposed to be afraid of a cripple?" came the green raptor's response from the root burrow. He then pulled himself out of the small depression beneath the tree, the light running along his body and revealing his features as he did. Once out, he shook the dust from his flank and stared the injured raptor in the eyes before glancing to the fractured leg...

"Well it was worth a try. What am I supposed to do? Ignore you? Cower like a hatchling and let you take me down as easily as you did my son? Or have I got the wrong raptor..." Beryl growled, turning himself to better face the raptor and once again leaning against the tree to take the strain off his leg, gaze cold and suspicious...

"Poor little Crusher" growled the Elder as he leapt into a higher branch, feeling comfortable higher up thanks to a lifetime of roaming in the trees. "Have you not wondered how you escaped the numerous attempts the Spinosaurs made to kill you when they found you? Why they haven't found and killed you by now? Or perhaps why they sometimes seem to have forgotten you?" he growled, Crusher staring at him confusedly, not knowing what to make of the Raptor's words. "I have tried over the years to reunite you and your remaining family. I have, on numerous occasions, pulled the Spinosaurs' attention away from you, and have on occasion managed to fool them into believing you were dead. But doing so for your elder relatives, when I could find them, was rather more difficult" the Elder sighed, his tone finally breaking from the apathetic façade he had held towards the youngster thusfar, his voice now laced with regret, one of the few times the Elder had ever shown emotion. "Wait...You've seen my family?" growled Crusher, eyes glinting with excitement. Ripper shook his head simply. "Not recently, I'm afraid. It's been nearly two years since I last saw any of them. But Last I spoke it was with your sister. She informed me that your brother and mother were still alive and well, but keeping far apart and with little contact to avoid being detected" he growled...

"And....And why didn't they try to find me?" chirped the Rex as he cocked his head, his need to be with his family burning powerfully, rekindled by the revelation that they may still be alive. "It was too dangerous. It still is. Do you remember when your grandfather got attacked by the Spinosaurs two years ago?" growled the Elder, Crusher nodding, a wave of anguish washing over the youngster as he remembered watching his grandfather flayed alive by five Spinosaurs, outmanoeuvred and outfought by the group, forced to exhaustion and then slaughtered, Crusher having forced himself to stay silent, running only once he saw his grandfather would not survive, not wanting to witness another death in his family. "That was the last attempt we made to bring your family together. Since then, They have asked me to watch over you, and to keep you away from them until you're old enough to defend yourself in case you're ambushed. When the time comes, I will find them, and take you to them. But for now....I'm afraid it would be too risky" hissed the Elder finally, seeing the pain in the youngster's eyes. It was both the pain of loneliness and the pain of understanding biting at him. He understood why, which relieved Ripper, but at the same time, impressed him, though he dared not show it for fear of making the Rex overconfident. If anything, he needed Crusher to feel weak. To push himself to become stronger, to try and improve as much as he could...

Finally, after several minutes, Crusher finally responded. "Why do you do this for us?" he growled, his tone dull and still fighting the pain, trying to bury it again, to escape behind the wall he had tried so hard to build between him and the worst of his memories as a hatchling. And Ripper would not deny him the opportunity. "I was to your father what Darkness is to you. I used to visit frequently, even let you nibble on my tail one or two times. Though I stopped letting you after that. nearly bit a chunk out of the tip the last time" he growled with a smile, his tail sweeping back and forth behind him, almost to emphasise his point. "My name...well, the closest thing to one I have...is Ripper. You can call me by that, if you like" he added. "Why can't I remember you Ripper?" growled the Rex curiously, the Elder smiling. "Oh, but you do. Have you not wondered why you took to Darkness so quickly? Why you became friendly towards him so swiftly? as if it were natural?" hissed the Raptor, Crusher's eyes widening with the realisation. "It was your memories of me that sparked it. Though of course, You and Darkness have had so many memories that by now I fade into obscurity in comparison. You probably only remember him when you think back, even to your oldest pleasant memories of Raptors. Am I wrong?" he growled, cocking his head questioningly, Crusher shaking his head. It was true. as far back as he could remember, Darkness was there. Even to memories prior to meeting the Raptor. Darkness had filled in the places in his memory that Ripper had once occupied. "Take care of yourself Crusher. I will keep in touch. For now however, it's about time I left. Try not to stumble into a giant cave full of starving predators next time, alright?" he growled, a joking smirk curling across the Raptor's snout as he glanced back at the Rex as he turned, Crusher smirking as he shook his head, as if partially dismissing the comment. "I'll do my best, though no promises" he responded, Ripper chuckling as a crack was heard, the squawking of a scarlet macaw breaking the conversation as it flew past Crusher's snout in a flurry of red blue and yellow feathers, the Rex shaking his head with a snort before glancing towards Ripper, finding nothing but branches, the Elder having simply disappeared, no sound or trace indicating where he had gone, Not even a scent having ever reached the Rex...

The Baryonyx kept in tune with the Allosaur's movements, countering each step with one of his own. For now, it had a marginal size advantage. But it was nowhere near enough to counteract the Allosaur's advantage. It knew that an attack could end fatally for it, so it remained defensive, slowly widening the circle they moved in, wary of the predator before it as blood continued to drip down the side of it's snout...

Slackjaw continued to watch the Baryonx with a focused stare, waiting patiently for a chance to attack. Whether it was the Baryonx making a move, or something around them that would distract it long enough to get him close, he didn't care...

Now wishing he hadn't been so quick to call out to the twins, Beryl pushed himself away from the support of the tree, never taking his eyes off the green raptor. "What, am I really the best entertainment you can find around here? Just a few minutes ago I met a couple of Dilophosaur look-alikes over that way who, it would seem, are much more willing to play than I am," Beryl growled bitterly, jerking his head to indicate the direction he had come from.

Aircrest stopped circling the brown raptor once he was free of the tree. He was injured, but was still very much of a threat. His offspring were probably on their way at that very moment, and the green raptor was vulnerable to sneak attack from them both. They might be naive, but they would cling to the only parent they have, and no loner would be the one to take his life. "I don't think I'd like their games" Aircrest barked after a pause, emphasizing his statement by flaring his nostrils as he sniffed the air. The scent of the creatures lingered on Beryl. "Limping around isn't...fun, y'know?" he added, a smirk on his face

Steeltalon was clinging to her branch, her expression blank, trying to process everything that had just happened and was still happening. She shook her head slowly, working at easing her claws out of the bark; they'd dug themselves pretty deep without her noticing.

Beryl looked distinctly unamused, though his face almost immediately contorted into a grimace as he took a limping step forward, wanting to keep heading for the relative safety of the cave. "Well, if limping isn't your style..." He paused to hop ahead another pace, shooting the green raptor a sideways glance. "...then maybe you could ask them to break a few ribs or... bite off a couple fingers. At least you'd still have more mobility... than this... Now if you'll excuse me, I need to attempt to get home without losing any more of mine..." The rusty raptor staggered his way to the next tree, a few feet ahead, pausing momentarily to put a hand out to it for balance, waiting for the throbbing in his leg to subside to a more tolerable level. It still seemed to be able to bear some weight, but every time he moved, it sent a piercing pain through his shin that made it feel as though a set of internal claws were being dragged across the bone, threatening to pierce the rest of the way through the fracture.

Aircrest's legs bent slightly when he reared up, looking to the low lying branches ahead. With a strong leap, he landed onto the nearest one, his claws tapping against the wood upon his landing. He hopped over the gap to the branch that stretched out over Beryl. "...No thanks. Pain is only funny when its someone else suffering..." he called down to the older raptor, though his words were meaningless. He did not enjoy anyone's agony, but this stranger didn't know that, so his little game could continue unsullied...

"Indeed....makes me wonder if I should snap a leg or two and watch you hobble along with him" hissed a voice quietly in the trees over Aircrest, barely more than a whisper and only just audible to the Raptor, too far above the ground to be heard by the crippled elder below...

the sound of scratching and scraping on the base of the tree the female was perched upon hinted Fatalis' presence, the Raptor kicking off of the side of the tree and onto a branch, climbing the tree in hops until he was a branch below the female. "Nothing like the rush that comes from running for your life" growled the Raptor with a sigh of satisfaction. "Sorry about earlier. Was kinda, you know, running for dear life. Couldn't stop to introduce myself. I'm Fatalis"...

the Baryonyx let out a screech, craning it's neck and baring it's fangs, attempting to make itself menacing in the hope of scaring off the Allosaur or at least intimidating it enough to keep the predator at bay long enough for it to edge into the jungle and run. with the demanding nature of an Allosaur's lifestyle it wouldn't risk chasing it in the jungle...

Aircrest was gone in a flash, shooting off of the branch and onto another, running full speed along it before jumping higher into the tree tops. Just when he thought it was OK to leave the root burrow, he appears. Somehow. It didn't concern him what the means of his discovery were. He only wanted to get away, and so he disappeared into his haven: the jungle canopy...

Steeltalon attempted to shake herself further out of her daze, looking down at the male. "Um. Yeah, I see why," she growled. "My name's Steeltalon. Is...is that how you usually first meet someone?"

Slackjaw continued to circle, forcing the Baryonyx to move with it, away and toward the jungle repeatedly, or the Allosaur would be close enough to strike...

Fatalis laughed at the question, shaking his head. "That'll be one of my more....interesting introductions, I admit. Though on the bright side, it sums me up fairly well in case you're wondering about my personality" he responded with a smirk, looking towards the Baryonyx and the Allosaur for a moment. "Nice to meet you Steeltalon. I take it you're not too fond of excitement?" he growled as he cocked his head...

The Baryonyx widened it's strides in response every time it was angled towards the jungle, trying as best he could to manoeuvre himself into the treeline. all the while, a rumbling, gurgling growl came from the predator...

Ripper's laugh rang out in the trees above Beryl as he saw the Raptor bolt in terror. "That never gets old" he barked as he calmed down, hopping down onto the branch Aircrest had just been on as he looked down towards the crippled Raptor below, the black and rusty red Elder intrigued by the situation below. He could very faintly smell Dilophosaurs here, so he got the impression the Raptor may have come across one or more. the injury seemed uncharacteristic of Dilophosaurs, which typically just killed prey. That suggested this was a warning. "Walked into the wrong territory, I'm guessing?" he hissed to the Raptor below...
