"I've had more than my fair share of excitement for one lifetime," the female said with a slightly nervous laugh. "It's almost second-nature for me to run now." She paused, wondering if she'd said too much, then shrugged. If the story came out, it came out. Riptide was too dangerous for her to leave others in the dark about him and his pack; it was time others knew what he was capable of. She followed Fatalis' glance towards the larger predators, watching the confrontation for a bit. "You taunt bigger predators pretty regularly then, I take it?"

Slackjaw launched a mock lunge, taking a quick step forward before stopping, staying far enough away to give him time to react, while also giving the impression he was about to attack...

the Baryonyx responded with a mock lunge, its claws swinging across as his jaws snapped loudly, the gurgling growl turning into a thick, wet snarl as the predator tried to force more distance between itself and it's attacker, feeling the trunk of a tree against his tail as he edged further and further back...

"Oh yeah, all the time. Before this Baryonyx I was pestering an irritated Giga. Lost it's hunt because I scared off it's prey, then walked along in front of it. suffice to say, it seemed willing to tear down half the island to reach me" growled the Raptor, snickering at the memory. "And what do you mean by more than your fair share?"...

Steeltalon gave a soft chuckle, sobering as the question was asked. She hesitated before replying, "You could say my family and I have been...hunted. For pretty much all of my life." She looked away for just a second, a nervous reflex. How much should she say? Should she say anything more at all? After another small pause she added somewhat nervously, "I'm...kind of the last of us. And the one who was hunting us isn't known for giving up a good chase."

As the Baryonyx's claws swung to their maximum, Slackjaw charged, bowling straight into the creature while it was unable to attack with its claws, smashing it into the tree and various other plants lining the jungle...

Fatalis thought for a moment, before responding. "Any chase can be interrupted if the right distraction is thrown in" growled the Raptor with an encouraging smile...

the Baryonyx screeched as it stumbled back, hitting the tree, digging it's feet into the ground as it thrust itself forward powerfully, forcing the Allosaur back and making space between it and it's aggressor, spreading it's claws, fangs bared...

Steeltalon cocked her head, a little surprised. "I...guess that's true," she growled, sparing a glance at the fighting predators below. "Haven't managed to get him off my tail yet though...to be honest, I don't know what would."

"If you know where he is, I could go rattle his cage a bit. I could use a challenging target for once. Pester them enough, they'll shift their focus on me, after which you can use the cover to move somewhere too far for them to find you" growled the Raptor with a smirk...

Aircrest stopped and listened, his head cocking and tilting to one side and the other as he scrutinized his surroundings. He felt the breeze as the leaves began to rustle. After a few moments, he relaxed. He wasn't being followed. For the moment, at least. Despite running for what seemed like miles, he still found himself in the elder's range. Staying away from the lab wasn't enough to keep their paths from crossing, that much was clear. The old raptor was a wanderer, a fact that made things a lot more confusing.

Aircrest assumed the injured raptor was keeping the elder occupied, how exactly was something he didn't spend too much time thinking about. He looked forward and began to move again. It seemed that he was spending most of his day running...

Slackjaw, stopping dead in his tracks, watched the Baryonyx through narrowed eyes, waiting once more...

"I - what?" Steeltalon asked, taken by surprise. "You'd do that for someone you just met?" She studied him with new curiosity, wondering just who it was exactly that she was talking to. Who this raptor, who went by Fatalis, was....to be willing to do something like that for a near-perfect stranger.

Beryl had been thinking of a good reply to shoot back at the green raptor when he disappeared and was almost immediately replaced by yet another raptor who seemingly appeared from nowhere. He tried not to look too surprised and once again pushed himself away from the tree, glancing up at the older, more experienced looking saurian. "That's what they uh... indicated. Could've just told me nicely to get lost and it would've had the same effect," Beryl grumbled. "Don't even know if they really were Dilophosaurs... They looked a bit diff- wait, you heard all that? Are you with him?" He jerked his head slightly in the general direction the green raptor had gone. "Please don't tell me I'm in your territory..."

"Of course. In the end it'd still be entertainment for me. Difference is It actually helps someone" growled Fatalis with a smirk. "Besides, if he's persistent enough to hunt down your whole family then odds are I won't have to worry about boredom for a loooong time. Win win for both of us" he added...

The Baryonyx glanced around out, noting it was now almost surrounded by trees. It was now or never. with a twist, the Baryonyx made a run for it, winding round a tree trunk and running in an attempt to get away from the Allosaur...

"Dilophosaurs, Liliensternus, Lophostropheus....various possibilities" growled the Elder thoughtfully. The three species had somewhat similar appearances, and with the varying mottling of predators like them, it was nearly impossible to identify which was which at a glance without experience, much less when you were too busy worrying about your broken leg to focus. Depsite that though, Ripper had a hunch it may have been Liliensternus, seeing as they had a tendency to be more aggressive then their larger frilled counterparts, as well as more inclined to attack physically, Dilophosaurs typically preferring to let their venom do the damage for them. It could just as easily have been Lophostropheus though...though they were somewhat rarer. he chuckled at the concern he picked up in the Raptor's voice, shaking his head. "I'm, in a manner of speaking, an observer. The Raptor you spoke to a moment ago, Aircrest, had a bit of an unsettling encounter with me recently. Suffice to say, he doesn't like being snuck up on...much to the amusement of the one doing the sneaking" growled Ripper with a smirk. "I'm a wanderer, first and foremost. I have no territory. A couple of places I go to on occasion, perhaps. But not a true territory. And I haven't been here long enough to hear most of your conversation. I just took an educated guess" he explained...

"I see. Good to hear I won't have to move my family out again," the raptor growled, sounding relieved. Despite the physical and emotional pain he was in, Beryl managed a very slight half-smile when the wanderer put a name to the green raptor. He found it amusing to think that the one who had been following and bothering him had also been followed and, apparently, quite bothered by the mere presence of the older raptor. "But I hope this Aircrest isn't going to make a habit of dropping in on us. If the description my son gave was accurate, he had an even more unpleasant run in with him than I did..." He shifted his weight slightly, causing another sting of pain to spike through his shin, what was left of his smile swiftly disappearing in a sharp wince. "Rhojis says he was nearly killed and I don't believe he was exaggerating. Of course, it could have been a misunderstanding-" Just then he heard a voice from his left, the source sounding muffled by several yards of foliage between them. "Dad? You okay? Who're you talking to?" The patter of a juvenile's footsteps came closer until a slate gray, white-striped head poked through the bushes near Beryl, yellow eyes filled with concern...

"I wouldn't worry too much about that. Aircrest is many things, but not a killer. Not like that" hissed the Elder as he looked down at the Raptors, studying the newcomer as he arrived. "Oh, he's just wonderful....well, aside from having his leg broken by a disgruntled predator, that is" commented the rusty red Raptor with a shrug...

Along the banks of the river, Bias was resting for a moment. The large crocodile had eaten his fill of a dead Zunicerotops, which were very rare in these areas. More often, they were found in the southern part of the island, or in sheltered valleys. But for Bias, it made a perfect meal...

Moa and her offspring, on the other hand, were stalking a large herd of Muttaburosaurus further up the river. Large herbivores, they reached lengths of up to 35 feet, and weighed up to 3 tonnes. Their nostrils had a thin, streachy membrane over them, which allowed them to make loud trumpeting sounds. They weren't residents of the northern part of the island, but rather followed the rains in search of fresh greenery. Right now, one of them was drinking from the river's edge... a perfect target for the Mosasaur...

By now, the Barosaurus had come and gone. The nesting females had left the area abandoned, their nests underground, hidden from predators... mostly. The pair of deinonychus from before were digging up one of the buried nests, with the boar-toothed croc not too far away, also digging up a nest. With no herbivores to guard the nests, they were easy pickings... or so they seemed...

Monozu was fast asleep in the cave, all by himself. The Suchomimus scratched his neck as he streached in his sleep, apparently draming of something...

Twincrest was also fast asleep. After being helped out by the other female Dilophosaur, she had headed off to where she had set up her nest: A high, almost inaccesable ledge ontop of a tall hill that looked over much of the primeval jungle. Here, she could sleep in safety, since larger carnivores couldn't get to her...

With surprising agility and with the precision of a snake, Slackjaw followed the Baryonyx around the tree and lunged at its tail, jaws slamming shut a few feet up the length of the tail. Yanking back hard, the Allosaur released the other dinosaur, causing it to stumble back alongside him. Ramming his flank into that of the Baryonyx, Slackjaw smashed it up against a nearby tree, the plant creaking loudly at the strain of the impact.

"Uh...I guess so," Steeltalon growled, still a bit bewildered. "Um. I don't know where he is, but I can describe him and a few of his pack to you. They...stand out." She paused, turning her head, accidentally letting the light catch the short black quills that ran down the back of her neck. "They're all mutants. Riptide - their leader - he's black, with blue stripes and spots. Ice-blue eyes. His second-in-command, Vertigo, is gray with darker spots. His mate, Amberclaw, she's white with weird golden claws. They have three sons...Raven, Whiptail, and Ebony. I don't know what they look like, except for Raven. He's dark gray, with golden stripes on his head and neck. if you find one of them, you find the whole pack, I guarantee it."

Xanthe took note of the sun's position, and the fact that most of the pack was awake, and stood. "My brothers and sisters," he rumbled, gaining their attention immediately. "I have good news. The young hunters that were sent out yesterday were successful - they've managed to bring down a sauropod." Murmurs of surprise and delight broke out, the parents of those sent out unable to contain their pride. "When you all are ready, we will go to meet them. Some of you will have to stay behind, to guard the nests and the youngsters; but there is plenty for all, and I will be sure to send some of those who come with me back to take your places once they've eaten their fill." He turned to Savarna, who was watching Alira and Cirrus with a mother's protective fondness. He leaned down to nuzzle her gently. "Don't let those two wear you out my dear," he growled, chuckling as she gave a small good-natured huff. "I'm not old yet, Xanthe," she replied. "I can handle them while you're gone." Cirrus, sensing his father was leaving, stood to his full height and gave a raspy, open-mouthed growl, showing his tiny teeth. "Take care of your sister, little fighter," Xanthe growled, amused. He turned to Aurora next. "Will you be joining us?" he asked her, keeping in mind that she, too, had a young son.

"If Savarna wouldn't mind watching my son alongside Alira and Cirrus, I would like that. I can help bring food for the youngsters as well" growled Aurora with a smile as she watched Blade, the youngster still leaping around hyperactively, occasionally stumbling and falling against his resting mother's stomach...

Fatalis cocked his head, his own quills standing vertically in interest. "Mutants? hmm....I suppose we're on even terms then...This'll be fun" he growled with a smirk as he flexed his claws. "Any problems in me slitting a few throats?" he inquired as he ran one claw along his tongue, removing the last of the Baryonyx's blood from it, the final horrified screech of which rang out as the loud crunch of hitting the tree reached the two even at that distance...

The Baryonyx lay, it's ribs shattered from the blow, a pained gurgle coming from it every time it tried to breathe, the predator trying to stand but finding itself unable to, staring at the Allosaur in pure horror...

"No." Steeltalon surprised herself with the rush of intense satisfaction she felt at the thought of one or more of Riptide's pack being slain. "I wouldn't mourn them any more than I would a beetle being crushed."

"I'll keep him out of trouble," Savarna growled with a smile. Xanthe gave a pleased rumble. "That settles it then," he growled, surveying his entire pack with unhidden pride.
